Exploring an Abandoned Palace in Spain No One Has Seen Before
There are places that vanish from memory,
but never truly leave. This palace in Spain is one of them,
sealed away for decades with its contents unknown to the world. No one had ever explored it before, until today. More than a hundred years ago, this home
was built for a family of status and every space still bears their mark. After years of vacancy, decay is now
setting in. Floors are slowly falling, and ceilings
are giving away. But the soul of this place remains
untouched and undisturbed. And although we weren’t sure what we’d find
when we stepped inside within minutes we realized… The place you’re about to see today is not
a place like a simple house or anything out of the ordinary. I’m currently in a wonderful Spanish palace
built in the beginning of the 1900s. The last calendars in this place and the
last newspaper dates that we found were from 2016. Time has passed in this place and decay is
really starting to take shape. Currently, this place is in a state where
reformation and renovation are required in order to make this place vivid and livable again. And while the future of this place
remains uncertain for now… I hope this place will get a new life. It’s a wonderful historical structure
in a Spanish town and I’m very excited to show it to you today. So, yeah, let’s just start this tour and
let’s do it! So, today we’re starting the tour in the
main hallway. Look at this wonderful staircase, guys. And over there on the wall, we can already
capture a glimpse of a wonderful… hand-embroidered tapestry
with the family coat of arms. There is a lot of decay in this place. We found it by ourselves. It was not easy to get inside. We needed to climb a lot. It was quite dodgy, but we are so happy
to be here right now. I’m just very excited to show you everything. Some beautiful porcelain pots over here. I think most of them are definitely made… in local stores and towns nearby. Look over here at the staircase. We’ve got all these doors with some more
shelves with pots and porcelain work. Some more sheets over here. You can already see all the debris laying
on the ground. This place is slowly starting to collapse. Some rooms are very near to collapse. So, that might also be the reason why they
haven’t found a suitable buyer yet. Because this place has been for sale
for over a decade… its walls have stood in a strange limbo,
caught between a glorious past and an uncertain future. Yet, behind the fading paint lies a story
that stretches back more than a century. Built as a private residence for an
influential family of the era… its architecture reflects the confidence
and wealth of its original owners. It was a symbol of prestige. A gathering place where guests would be
welcomed with grandeur. But as generations passed, fortune shifted. The once lively halls fell silent, and the
estate began its slow decline. This place has wonderful antiques. Wonderful, especially wooden, Spanish antiques. You’re going to love it, guys. So, let’s head into this direction. We can already see a pretty big aperture
in the floor over here. Oh my! This leads to a toilet. You can clearly see that parts of a
staircase above here are all falling. Well, we’ve got another little room over
here before actually entering the kitchen. Some skates. Definitely not going to walk up this
staircase since we have definitely a more reliable staircase that will lead us to
the upstairs floor. So, over here’s the calendar. Dating September 2016. And then, guys, you’re going to love this
kitchen. Look at the checkered floor tiles. And look at this kitchen. I actually really like it. Very traditional. There’s also this broken stone plate
saying “Gloria”. And I think it actually refers to the name
of one of the women that still owns this place. Since I found some envelopes also
addressed to Gloria. I’m actually quite curious to see the fridge… but I was already expecting that
it would be emptied out. Guys… How cute is this? There are little pillows on the seats too. All the glasses. A painted kitchen cabinet. Woah! It’s entirely stuffed. It seems that they tried to close it and
board it up pretty well over here. Wow! This is so beautiful. You won’t often find this type of kitchen
style in France or Belgium. And also, look at these wonderful
porcelain plates. We’ve got a huge collection of them. A very old oven over here as well. Let’s continue our way through here. We got some books on the ground. Two yellow chairs. And this actually leads to the front door
and the front gate… which is absolutely spectacular, guys. It’s a humongous gate and portal
to enter this place. What a magical sight. Now, on my left-hand side, there’s a room… It’s pretty much cluttered with items and furniture. But there’s one really unique thing
that I want to point out and that is actually standing in this room. First of all, that used to be a part of a
chandelier. Hanging over here in the center. Not much is left of it, sadly enough. I hope they saved it and didn’t get stolen
or damaged. A fireplace over here. And this is what I was talking about. It’s definitely a game. I think definitely also a game with balls,
but I’ve never seen it before. I’m not sure if it’s something that’s
typically from Spain or Hispanic countries but… yeah, just leave it down below. You can also see the fortification of the
structure and all the bars. And also, the fact how high the windows are. Because back in those days,
when there was no electricity… they made such massive windows to let
a lot of natural light fall inside the house. But you can clearly see considerable cracks. The room above here is also in
a very bad state of disrepair. Anyways, let’s continue to the next room. And I also really like it. First of all, the wooden doorpost
where we go through. Everything is still so well in place. You can see signs of decay and damage
throughout the years. Wow! “Que bonito!” What a beauty! A very historical bench over here that you
often see in the main hallway and corridor when you come in. Or in the foyer. Actually, I wasn’t expecting this to be inside. We can again see the name “Gloria”. It looks like she might have painted this
herself in the year 1950. Some pink seats over here. And also, a little sewing machine. And yes, it is a “Singer”. The man that we actually have in frame over here… is a man that a lot of people have
mixed opinions about. This used to be one of the leaders of Spain. Actually, the last dictator of Spain. And after his fall, democracy started. You can definitely tell that this place
has a lot of history because when he was still the leader of Spain,
people were living here. There was no democracy in Spain like in
most central European countries. But anyways, I’m already spoiling you
a little bit. But this room is incredible, guys. Check this out! We’ve got the main living room,
the salon of this place. And it is absolutely incredible. Wow. You can see the paint starting to peel. Also, over here, the windows are huge in
size and you can tell that it works. A lot of natural sunlight is falling in and we don’t need any electricity to see it better. I actually really like all those tiny frames. Hanging on the wall. All about historical landmarks, marketplaces… and towns in Spain. Wow! This is actually an award. for a finished course in 1973. Another little bowlor trophy
and another one. A beautiful clock as well. Wow, those chairs are truly historic. Look at the upholstery as well. There’s also a statue standing in the
middle of the table. It’s quite mysterious. I love the chandelier, or at least this
golden lamp hanging in the center. The same emblem that we saw over there
on that wooden bench is coming back over here. On this wooden chair. There’s still the books standing and everything. Another massive frame. It’s saying “The Ruins of the Seminary”. 1808. “Luna y Sol” is written on those books. The first volume between here starts in 1947. Wow! Look at this picture. This might have been the last owner of
this place. It looks like a very classy and well-studied man. Also, a picture of a pastor over here. I also really like this furniture. It’s beautifully matching with the pillows
in this incredible bench over here. A typical Spanish bench. Can’t say more. Only found those in Spain and
sometimes in Portugal, but mostly in Spain. Some hunter horns. Oh, look at this picture. It’s actually a man, I think, together with his daughter
or granddaughter walking the dogs outside. Look at this lamp. Because of decay, the decoration
is actually falling off. Wow! Look at these liquor glasses, these shot
glasses. It’s so precious. Over here it actually says a city. That’s the capital of this province where
we are now. Santander. A province in the north of Spain. This painting is also incredible. Jesus Christ. Now, one last look at such an incredible salon. The main living room. At the dawn of the 20th century,
Spain was changing. Industry was growing, cities were expanding… and families of influence were shaping
the towns they called home. Among them were families who through commerce,
land, or public service had risen to prominence. Building a residence like this was more
than just comfort. It was a statement. The style they chose was deeply traditional. Thick stone walls, heavy balconies, and a
layout rooted in old, regional craftsmanship. Yet scaled to a level that
spoke of wealth and permanence. It was the language of
the Montañes style. Grounded, proud, and unmistakably noble. Before this palace was built, the site may
have held a more modest dwelling. Perhaps a rural bourgeois home built for
practicality over display. But in time, that gave way to ambition. The modest became grand,
the functional became monumental. And so, this house was born. A blend of heritage and aspiration, meant
to stand the test for generations. And now, a century later, it still stands. Though now, it tells a very different story. It’s time to head upstairs right now… and explore the bedrooms of this place… and also, show you the incredible damage that has occurred
to this historical landmark over time. But first, let’s appreciate this
incredible tapestry of this noble family. Ah, that’s actually locked. That’s a pity, but I really like the
details on this chest as well. They’re actually Indians. Wow, this wooden chair has wonderful carvings. Okay, it’s about time, guys. We’re going to, I think, my favorite
bedroom in this palace. Last night, when we discovered this place
and checked it out… I actually laid down in the bed for a while
listening to classical music… searching a little bit about the history of this place,
and wow! This is unbelievable. It might even be one of the most beautiful
beds that I’ve ever seen. I’ve seen a bed slightly similar to this
one before. And if you haven’t seen that incredible
episode of abandoned Spain, make sure to watch it next. You’ll find the link in the description. I think this is actually the
most wonderful wooden chair that I’ve seen in this place. It even has a family coat of arms carved right at the bottom of the leather
where you would have a seat. Wow! “Nuestra Señora de Montesclaros”. This also looks like something very antique. And look at the light. It’s actually matching wonderfully with the bed. Look at this bed frame, guys. Golden foliage, wonderful paintings,
mind-blowing. I think there are definitely going to be
blankets in this chest. And yep, there are. A newspaper from 1983 over here. Actually, some colored sand inside. I also see some certificates. This is a diploma with the name Borja. “has completed a 50-hour course of English.” Alright. It’s just incredible to see this. That such wonderful historical masterpieces
and furniture have remained inside of a place. Then, we have some more rooms over here on
the left side. There definitely also used to be bedrooms,
but they are rather empty right now. And I think if I see this, that this
bedroom actually belonged to a child. Yeah, you can still see a bed frame in
this room. So, it definitely used to be a bedroom. Oh! There are still some clothes
hanging over here. You’d expect that they would actually
take the clothes out of this place. But yeah, same for the furniture, of course. Although clothes are way more easy to just
take out and move somewhere else. This table is really unique. A little nightstand over here. So, then, I think that if that was a
nightstand, the bed would actually stand… right against the wall here. A little drawing of a child. And what is this? Opening hours from the churches. Well, you can tell that they definitely went to church and that religion was of importance for the people. And I should not forget to mention… the lamp over here,
hanging in the center of the room. Very unique. Now, there’s another mesmerizing bedroom
waiting for us over here at the end of this corridor. Prepare yourself. Wow! Incredible! Absolutely incredible! Guys… It’s completely different from the other
bedroom, but again, oh, so gorgeous. Wow, I love this statue over here. You can see ropes tied on his wrists,
blood on his face. Woah! And again, a massive lamp like we’ve also
seen in the main living room downstairs. This sofa over here was stuffed with hay,
like the pillows. Let’s show you the headboard of the bed
from a more up-close perspective. It’s just incredible how they carved and
made this furniture back in the day. And honestly, this bed is still in great shape. It was really built to last. I also really love this seat over here. I think it’s very Spanish, especially with
the red colors. And, of course, with such a majestic bedroom… they also definitely had their own
private bathroom. Like, right next door. And that was this one. I can’t believe that even the razors and
some shampoo are still standing here. Even the sponges that they would have
groomed themselves with. That looks quite funny. Maybe it was made by a child in school. A lot of towels still inside and a tiny
bidet in the corner. So, we’ve seen the most incredible
bedrooms now. It’s time to show you a part of this
palace that’s in a very rough shape. I also gotta be careful here, guys,
because this is what I’m talking about. Some serious decay is going on here. I’m not sure what this room would have been
used for, but this is actually the part that’s connected with the stairs right
next to the kitchen downstairs. I won’t say that this place is in
a state beyond repair, but… it will definitely require a lot of funds
in order to save this place. It’s all about finding the right person
that wants to invest in it. And breathe life in this place once again. Those all used to be bedrooms. This used to be the bathroom. You can just see a cobweb going between
the door of this room. Meaning that nobody has actually entered
this room for years on end. You can see signs of humidity. You can see signs of cracks. Rotting wood. This bedroom is incredible. The beds are still standing there but… It will not last a coon’s age until
they will literally collapse through this floor. I’m not even going to walk further than this. I think this was another bedroom. It’s actually quite spacious. What’s this thing over here? Oh, wow! That fireplace is incredible. You can just see what the elements
have done to it. It became completely mossy because of
a roof leakage. It’s starting to have a green color right now. And also, on this fireplace, we see the
same symbol again with an “S” and an “O”, or an “O” and an “S”. That definitely relates to the
family name. The noble family. That once had this place built for them
and lived here. And we can also take a peek over here to
the outside, to the garden. And look at it. There’s even a pool inside the garden. And you can tell how overgrown it is. We had to go through a lot of thorn bushes
in order to get here. Well, two more floors to go. But let’s say, one explorable floor. Because the last floor is really too dodgy. Like, I’m not going to walk up there. But yeah, just to give you an imagination
of the size of this property. Well, this staircase is in a very rough
condition, so we don’t really trust it. We’ve got some more plain bedrooms over
here on this floor, I believe. Look at those old-fashioned shoes. They are actually wooden shoes. It reminds me a bit of the Dutch clumps. I didn’t know that they also used to
traditionally wear wooden shoes like this Spain. I’ve never seen it like this. Woah! It looks like they maybe started
working here a little bit or at least, they placed foil to save humidity
from damaging the other floor and like rainwater and everything leaking inside. Oh, that’s crazy! There is a ping-pong table over here. They definitely used to play some games here. Wasn’t expecting that. Well, we’ve got some bicycles over here. Check this out! A game for PlayStation 2. I also used to have a PlayStation 2
when I was little. It’s from 2003. So, in the early 2000s, I think, this place
was last occupied and filled with life. Well, this is actually not really going anywhere. We already checked it out yesterday
and it’s literally just… the room right underneath the roof. Like, an attic. I’m going to see, but if I don’t trust it,
I’m not going to do it, guys. Oh, no! Nah, that’s literally just an attic. Not worth breaking my leg for. Not worth it. I can just feel it moving, guys, as I’m
walking over it. For more than a decade, this palace has waited… standing on the edge between rescue and ruin. At one point, there were plans to transform
it into a 29-room hotel. A project that could have given it a new life,
but never left the drawing board. Since then, it has sat in silence… searching for the right person to take on
the enormous task of saving it. Restoring a place like this is not just
about money. It’s about vision, respect, and the will
to breathe life back into walls that have seen generations come and go. Whether its next chapter will preserve its story or rewrite it entirely,
remains unknown. For now, it sleeps, waiting for someone
to turn the key. If you enjoyed this exploration, make sure

Hidden in Spain stands an abandoned palace — untouched for decades and left in a fragile state of decay. 🇪🇸
Built in the early 1900s, it was once a proud residence of a noble family, its lions and coat of arms a symbol of protection and prestige. For over ten years, it has been listed for sale, but no one has taken on the immense task of restoring it.
Inside, the story of the family remains visible in every detail: furniture, portraits, documents, and personal belongings left behind as if time simply stopped.
Inside, we uncover:
🪞 A lavish salon still furnished with antiques and family heirlooms
🛏️ Bedrooms with ornate carved beds and embroidered fabrics
📜 Diplomas, calendars, and letters from the last generation
🦁 A heraldic coat of arms guarded by stone lions
A palace that once represented status and permanence.
Today, it stands as a fragile reminder of another time.
