Pacific League Rakuten vs. Nippon-Ham (16th, Rakuten Mobile)
infielder Michael Franco, batting fifth and playing third base, hit consecutive Home Run for the second time in his career since the game against Nippon-Ham on July 15th of last year (ESCON). In his second at-bat with one out in the fourth inning, he hit a 136 km/h shot from Kato for his fifth solo home run, sending it to left-center field. “I’m glad it went in. I’ll do my best in my next at-bat,” he said. In his third at-bat as the leadoff hitter in the sixth inning, he hit a 126 km/h cutter from Kato for his sixth solo home run, sending it to the left field stands.
His batting average was in the low 20s and he was demoted to the second team on June 12th. He returned to the first team on July 15th and has been hit consistently, now hitting in eight consecutive games. Foreign players hit and Voit joined the team in June. They support and compete with each other, making them a great addition to the team.
