Thrifting in Japan but this time in Osaka

Very interesting dial there. It feels like it can outlast an explosion, especially a denim bag. Dude, it’s my first time encountering that. Good morning, good afternoon, good evening everyone. Welcome back in our channel. Rad Corner here and for this episode, we have to redo things simply because up until now, I’m not yet satisfied with the secondhand shopping that we’ve experienced here in Canai region. We were able to check Osaka and Kyoto. And I have to admit it to you guys, it was not the best in terms of items. This time we are going to check Book of Super Bazaar Yao Naghata store which is 1 hour away from Doon Bori. I feel like we are starting to be a serial secondhand hunter. And I have to admit I am enjoying the thrill. There is no strategy needed. No curated Instagram shelf. Just throw unfiltered stuff. stories, obsession, possession, all items, all marked down and waiting for a second chance. I feel like I am enjoying this because for a brief moment, I’m not a tourist. We blend somewhere in between them trying to find the best possible item. And just a heads up, most of the time this book of super bazaars are always off the track. So, you have to walk like 10 to 15 minutes away from the station. You might even need to walk tight spaces. But at the end of the day, what only matters for now would be finding this orange thing that says Boop of Super Bazaar. And you just have to walk in. From the outside, it looks huge. Hopefully, the items are packed as well inside. Hoping to see amazing watches or limited editions, Pokémon cards, shoes, jewelries, bags. Let’s all cross our fingers together and start this hunting inside this Book of Super Bizaar. That was not an easy walk. It was really hot from the outside. As a pay of respect, let’s start with the Seikko in collaboration with Shi Otani. This is a limited edition and they’re selling this for 280,000 yen. And on its left side, an Astron for 90,000 yen. This is a quartz watch, I think. While the Showi Otani is a GMT, a black marine master also available for 180,000 yen. This is my first time to see this kind of caller from Citizen. This is an Eco Drive 1 for 300,000 yen. And on its right side, a brighter red for 120,000 yen. One level higher would be the Omega Devil over here. I’m not sure if this is silver or ivory color for 70,000 yen. And on its right side, the Tag Hoyer for 50,000 yen. And on the far right would be this quartz Hamilton Jazzmaster for 50,000 yen. A black Seikko watch here with black dial too is listed for 19,000 yen. I think this is a 36 millimeter. It has a kangji day and the day feature is present too. A Seikko Credor with white dial and a smooth case for 30,000 yen. This is a quartz watch. And then Lucia. It has a pretty light pink for its dial and they’re selling it for 11,000 yen only. Almost the same dial color on this one for 10,000 yen. A good number of Citizen Eco Drive patiently waiting here for you guys for from 33,000 yen down to 10,000 yen for this one. Oh, but but this one is not an Eco Drive. They have a black black and then blue. Just in case you’re not yet aware of how Eco Drive works. Technically, it gathers the light that it can take from its dial and then stores it and then converts it to energy to power the entire quartz watch. It is a revolutionary technology from Citizen and they’re quite proud of it. G-Shock lovers, here you go from 3,000 yen would be the cheapest. And then the highest price would be this one for 50,000 yen. Very interesting dial there. It feels like it can outlast an explosion, something like that. And first time to see this very sleek looking Casio Pro T for 35,000 yen. I really like how the matte black is looking inside its dial. When the time comes that I’ll be buying a casual watch, definitely this calculator looking wrist piece is the one that we are gunning for, but the silver one or black, not the bronze one. If you’re planning to start your watch journey and you are in a bit of a struggle when it comes to the budget, I think Timex is not a bad option for you to start. Look at this one. Even though if it’s a quartz watch, look how slick the black dial is for 6,000 yen only. That red second hand. I like the accent. Tail of two items here would be two-tone date just the one on your left is a black dial and the one on your right is a gold one. Uh the black one is up for 1 million yen and the one on your right is listed for 880,000 yen. Moving to the right side would be women’s Rolex watches. These are date justs uh ranging between 594,000 yen, which is the gold dial at your right, and then the one at the middle, something close to a bronze dial at 737,000 yen, and the one on your left sits at 1.2 million yen. Unfortunately, that sums up the watch section here. Well, it’s obvious that it seems like they’re quite short with it, but in terms of luxury or designer bags, man, they have tons here. Gucci bags between 42,000 yen. You have a 62,000 and then 170 on this side. Then more on your left. These are Michael Kors for 14,000 yen only. 17,000 7,000 yen. And the black one here is for 11,000 yen. More of the upper part. Just feel free to pause the video if you see something that you like and the prices will be shown too. For these stores, you will always see the same brand. But most of the time there is a wide range of designs. Like for example, this one is my first time seeing this. Especially a denim bag for 40,000 yen. Dude, it’s my first time encountering that from Coach. Then more down here to show it to you guys. This coach here saying love for 7,000 yen. [Music] [Music] All right. [Music] [Music] Yeah. [Music] and that is the end for the designer bags available here. I’m telling you, whatever you saw on that section is just a fraction of what is available. If you have a deep pocket and planning to buy those kinds of stuff, you might want to consider this area because they are not shying away in terms of the designer bags. If you have any suggestions here in Kansai region for watches, let me know. I would love to give it a try next time. Your Japan trip won’t be complete without encountering any anime figures like this things. And in terms of pricing, any recycle shops or secondhand stores like this one has the best deal. For example, look at this Luffy for 2,000 yen only. An iconic Dragon Ball character, Brily sits here at 9,000 yen. Prices might change from time to time, but based on my experience of I don’t know how many times I’ve been to Japan now, even in Akihabara or going to other cities, I always feel like Book of Super Bazaar or any secondhand shops holds the best deal and volume. For example, back in 2020 or 2019, I was still selling toys. You know, I have a small business during that time. And this figure here where Nami has the outfit of Son Goku, we can actually sell this for around 4,000 pesos up to 5,000 pesos, but that was back then, right? And here you can buy it for 3,200 yen only. And this one still has the box. From time to time, I have to admit that I do miss the toy business or maybe the business life in general, the stress, the non-stop thinking. Maybe I should apply that to our watch hobby or probably just get back to the toy business. I don’t know, man. We’ll see what the future holds for us. Yo, look at this store. They’re quite big for 11,000 yen. Not bad. But I just don’t know how are we going to bring that home. This is a Joker 2.0 Hot Toys. So, it’s quite rare for me to see this here. Built Gundams are also available from how much? around 2,000 yen would be the cheapest. And there’s the Grandpa Gandam, the RX for 4,400 yen. But if you love building things from your own hand, then there’s a lot of stuff in here. Astray blue frame second L for 2,400. High-grade wing Gundam. A perfect grade unleashed RX782 for 33 33,000 yen. Wow, this is massive. way way bigger than the Thor that we saw a while ago and they have two. There are days that I wish I have the time to build these things because if I have I could have bought one a metal build casually sitting here for 15,000 yen. Now we are moving on to the Pokemon section. There’s an entard right there. This is a V for 1,800 yen. As you guys know, I started doing my collection, but I purely buy any Gengar cards out there, and sometimes I buy them in a higher price because I’m doing it for the sole purpose of collecting, not as an investment. But definitely, I still do have a certain level of resistance. For example, I will see a Gengar card here worth probably 30,000 yen. For me, that is something that I cannot afford as of now, but hopefully in the future, who knows, right? If I won’t be able to afford it, just seeing nice cards is more than enough. If you have the time and patience, you can actually check these cards. These are loose cards or single cards. You just have to browse them. Sometimes, if you are in luck, you can actually find nice cards here. For example, in my case, we saw several Gengar cards here for only 33,000 yen. I can’t say no to that. But just a heads up, this will require you a lot of time and effort, and I will totally understand if you think it’s going to be a waste of time, but sometimes patience do give us something in return. I would really love to own a vintage Gengar card. I know that’s next to impossible in finding that kind of stuff in this bin, but just in case I’ll find something else, I’m more than okay with that. those cardas old maid they’re quite more resonating to my childhood compared to the modern cards no hate that’s a matter of personal preference but I still do buy modern cards I don’t know how many minutes it has been but there’s no sign of any luck or interest so far anyway just in case you are interested in knowing how come I ended up picking Gengar out of the thousands of Pokémons right now. I was able to share that story back when we were in Agoya in our first ever Pokemon card hunting episode. I’ll put the link on the description box down below. So, if you want, you can check it later. No luck with the single cards here. But I feel like we’re about to hit the cap. So, after this one, still nothing. Then we go. Nothing in return. So, we have to call that one a day for the Pokémon cards. Before we move on, they also have tons of Yu-Gi-Oh cards here. Look at the Dark Magician Girl for 45,273 yen. Okay. Okay. For the sneaker heads, they have something for you here as well, but I’m not really familiar with the shoe game anymore, so I’m just going to flash it to you. For the price of this one, 14,000. Another 14,000. Air Max 95 for 26,000 yen. A respectable amount of Jordan Lowe’s here for 10,000 yen. Another 10,000 yen. This is an interesting shoe, but I feel like this is quite big. Uh for 11,000 yen, you can take this one home. Then another low here for 10,000 yen. Shoes in the glass shelves are quite more pristine compared to the ones on your left over here. So, the price might be a bit cheaper on these things. In terms of clothing, they will never be short on the amount that they have here. Uh, you just have to be patient. You can actually find a nice shirt for like around 300 or 500 yen and above. And actually depends on the brand as well. If you guys remember the jacket that I was wearing when we went to Shiraawa Go back in Nagoya, don’t worry if you haven’t watched that. I’ll put the link on the description box down below. That blue jacket, I was able to buy it back in Book of Super Bazaar Omia for under 3,000 yen only. So, to put things to perspective, yes, the clothes here are wearable and that’s what I do. For you to find the best possible deal when it comes to clothes, just look for the 50% off tags that they always have here. And for example, the 500 yen clothes will go down to 250 yen only. So yes, it is possible to find clothes here under 300 yen. I do understand that sometimes it does not make sense, but you know, me being here doesn’t make sense at all, but you can find it here. 50% off of the 500 yen. So this boils down to 250 yen as well. By the way, if you have any travel needs or travel necessities such as pocket Wi-Fi, eim or even your hotel bookings plus your Disney ticket or USJ tickets, please consider using cluke.com and take advantage of our promo code madcornercl to have that 3 to 5% discount. Again, that is mad cornerclook and don’t forget to use it. And to my surprise, I found myself in the kimono section. So, for this one, it’s up for 1,780 yen, but since it has a 50% off, then you can get it for as low as around how much would that be? 800 yen, something close to that. Buof will always surprise you, right? This one for 1,320 only. This is the blue kimono here. Let me know in the comment section if I should really call this one a kimono. Guys, please enlighten me. Just in case if I’m correct, then they have a load of them waiting for you. Like this one. How much? 880N only, boys. Since it’s named as book of the book comes first, there will be tons of them from mangas to any sorts of book in here. And one of my favorite anime of all time would be Slam Dunk. I really like it because simply there’s no power. It’s just his talent, raw talent and determination. [Music] That sums up our book of super bizarre ya nagahata experience. And to my surprise, you know, in terms of clothes, they’re okay. But on the other hand, I did not expect that uh secondhand watches here in Kai region would be a bit low in terms of volume. But the other stores that we visited like Big Camera, Yodashi, Doniote, they’re quite packed of the brand new watches. If you’re planning to do your secondhand shopping in Canai, I hope I was able to provide you enough information. Don’t worry, I’ll put all of the links of the other episodes on the description box down below so you can check them as well. If you have any suggestions or constructive criticism, please leave them out at the comment section. I would love to hear it from you. Plus, if you’re not yet subscribed in our channel, please do hit that subscribe button down below. It would really mean a lot to me and help me grow this channel even more. But if you’re not comfortable doing that, that’s already okay with me. You being here watching our episode right now is more than enough. It’s time for us to call it a day. I would love to see you again next week. Mad Corner. I’m out. Return to the back.

In this episode, I take you on a raw, unfiltered journey through the bustling streets of Osaka and the quiet corners of Kyoto. Two cities pulsing with culture, flavor, and surprises. We’re not just here to eat and admire temples. We’re here for JDM watches like Seiko, Citizen, vintage gems, and secondhand finds you won’t see anywhere else.

But be warned, this is not your typical Osaka or Kyoto travel guide. This is about the hunt. The thrill of finding that one vintage JDM piece buried in a pawnshop, or lost among shelves in a BookOff Super Bazaar that smells like old plastic and quiet desperation. Sometimes, it includes the conversations you have without speaking. Just nods, gestures, and a shared respect between you and a Japanese shopkeeper who knows exactly what you’re looking for.

And then there’s Kyoto. Everyone talks about the temples, the geisha district, the bamboo groves. But I was here for something else and my intention is precise like a second hand in your watch. A city that wears time like a well-worn kimono. Under the tourist gloss are secondhand stores where I will be pushing my luck and see where it will go. Watches that have outlived trends, tasted decades, and now sits quietly waiting for someone who gets it. But do not be fooled because it is not always sunshine and rainbows here. Sometimes we hit, sometimes we miss.

I’ll be honest with you, I might not help you completely as a tourist guide for your Kansai trip. But I will show you the other side of Osaka and Kyoto. The side that doesn’t care if you’re a tourist or a collector. It’s just waiting for you to show up and pay attention.

Thrifting in Japan but this time in Osaka and BookOff Super Bazaar never fails to surprise us. Again, it is a hit or miss experience but I will always bet my time being worth it for the travel. We will encounter secondhand watches from Seiko, Citizen, Casio and Rolex are present in this secondhand store too! Now, if you in for the thrill to hunt those things. Try to add more because pre-loved clothes has mind blowing price tags.

We are also seeing a lot of people show their Pokemon Card Japan store recommendations and this can be considered our go-to-place. They might not be the best, but the thrill of finding a good card in bargain price is addicting!

Do not limit your imagination here that Japan thrift store is made for guys because the ladies will love it! Designer Bags, Jewelries and even watches will definitely capture their attention. So if you have plans of Thrifting in Japan but this time in Osaka, then you might want to add this in your itinerary and make sure to watch until the end of the video because a good amount of anime figures will surprise you!
