Nerja & Frigiliana travel vlog: Come with us for beaches, tapas and dreamy hilltop villages

Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Morning everybody here. We’re here at Birmingham 
airport this morning at a very early hour to 6 the time. Our flight’s in a couple of 
hours. We’re heading to Espania today.   Going to Malaga and we’re really excited 
for some sunshine. Going to head to Nerja and Frigiliana too. So yeah, early start for 
us and we’re going to get in the airport,   get checked in and head on our way. So 
fingers crossed it all goes smoothly. So today we are in uh this evening we came 
to Frigiliana, little whitewashed village in Andalusia. We’re staying here actually on this 
holiday. So it’s a really it’s a really beautiful village actually and we’ll show you more about it, 
more from it when we go around. But yeah, at the moment we’re in a little bar on the way sort of 
up the hill because its a Hilltop Village as well.   So we just have a drink here and it’s very well 
this is a brilliant place. The drinks are nice, the people are nice, the view’s brilliant. You sit 
at a little bench or on the barrel here and enjoy your drink and they give you some tapas which 
is also very cheap as well. Very reasonable and it’s just a really nice place to sort of 
start your evening off before going for a   meal or even just staying here for the rest of 
the evening to be honest. Pretty nice as well, isn’t it? So beautiful. So yeah, we we 
love Frigiliana. We love this little   bar. We we’re coming here most days and 
that’s the view we’re talking about. So, yes, it’s a beautiful place and we’ll show you 
more about it through the week while we’re here. Looking over there. There’s actually more 
restaurants over the other side as well. We’re actually at the bottom of the hill 
here. We’re at the bottom of the hill. We   to my left, you walk up the hill in the bar to 
my left. You walk up past the bar up the hill basically and there’s a lot more restaurants 
and the streets here look lovely as well. Where are we now? So now we’re in 
Nerja Nerja Center. So it’s a really it’s a bit busier than Frigiliana this one. 
It’s more of like a family resort sort of place. So you get lots of groups coming, lots 
of kids and it’s a really nice vibe during the day and during the evenings as well. Got some 
live got some live music. We were here really for the beach. Yeah. it’s got he’s got a 
selection of beaches actually. You don’t it’s not just one beach. You got a few to 
choose from. This is the square on the way in into the center really. So as you can see 
there’s quite a lot happening already. But before we even got in lots of people having 
a drink, lots of shops, sunglasses, clothes stay open till about 11 12:00. It’s really good. That painting is really   good. It’s like looking in the 
mirror. Should we do one for us? That looks This is at the end here 
is called the Balcon de Europa. So,   the balcony of Europe. And it’s like a 
viewpoint. You’ve got this little like promenade on the way down there with the hotel 
on the left and sea on the so hotel on the right,   sea on the left and you can look down at 
the bottom onto sort of like the outer sea bit the rocks below. There’s a little 
walkway underneath as well from the beach   to the left. You can walk underneath the the 
balcony. But just looking at the balcony now, it looks absolutely packed. There’s no space. 
Every everyone’s looking out to see tonight. Come on. Beautiful. Heat. Heat. lots of wow honey honey local frigiliana fragiliana honey it says Yeah. Which 
one? These ones. Left floor deilana. Some evil eye in there. Yeah. Looks like Yeah. 
We’re coming up now to what is like probably the center bit, I suppose, isn’t it? It’s quite busy. 
Restaurants and tapas bars. We’re going to try and see if we can get a seat at a restaurant we 
came to last year. Of course. Spanish eat quite late. So, even though it’s like just gone 9:00, 
that’s not really late here for some food. So, this is a good shop, isn’t it? We like this one. 
But what we trying now? I can’t remember. Oh, it’s coconut, isn’t it? Definitely coconut. 
Hola. We got some coconut. Thank you. Gracias. I just got some more as well. Got some. 
I’m not quite sure, but I got something   else. Looks like seeds. Yeah, check. Do you 
want it? Sabo espana it’s called. And it’s it’s a chain really. We saw one in we went to one 
in Barcelona, didn’t we? This one is the first   one I saw in there. Lots of different flavors. 
Nougat. This one is our favorite. Blueberry is a really good one. Yeah, if you ever come here. 
I quite like the crema Catalana one. And they do like pistachio as well. Fistik pistachio. 
This one pistachio. This one pistachio. Yeah, they do packs. Lots of different kinds. They do 
like chocolates as well. You got figs. Like fig like it’s almost like a cake I suppose, isn’t 
it? It’s like a a ring of figs, dried fig, and quite a few free samples as you come 
through the door. These are good. These   are caramelized almonds. Very nice. So this is yeah look at the center this really 
really good view sevillano tapas bar it’s really cool it’s got a rooftop terrace as well and we 
come here quite a lot because when you order a drink you’re getting free tapas with your drink 
as well so that’s a little bonus and the one   opposite the street just to the left this I can’t 
remember the name of it now that also does the same thing so order a drink free tapas to choose 
from. They’re really cool bars, both of them. Yeah. Redondo. Redondo. Uh, tapas. 
This one here on the left. Yeah. So, we went to our restaurant, but we didn’t get 
in. Not tonight anyway. We’re going to get in   tomorrow night. We wanted an outside table, but 
they didn’t have any available unfortunately. So, but we did leave it quite late and we didn’t make 
a reservation, so it’s fair enough. but we booked   for tomorrow night. So, we’ll we’ll show you 
the restaurant then instead. We tried to get in the tapas bars around the corner as well. We 
showed you, but they’re all full as well. So,   we’re going to do a little circuit. See if 
we can get a table on the way back. I think straight left there. So, we finally an update 
from the evening. We finally found a table. The really nice lady actually saw us like kind 
of hovering waiting for a table and obviously knows how the system works and said, “Oh, I’m 
leaving now.” So, she gave she allowed us to sit   next to her and we took her table over now. So, 
thankfully we’ve got somewhere to sit down with the Nerja Bar Redondo which we mentioned earlier 
on the way through. So, as I said before as well, when you order your drink, you get a free plate 
of tapas with your food. So, what we’ve ordered is I’ve got a cod and prawn skewer. And what I when 
I came here before, it’s in a nice like herby uh herby sauce. And one of the guys who worked there 
said that was one of his favorites. Melo’s gone   for the brie with strawberry strawberry sauce 
on there. So, that’s like looks really nice, really light, refreshing meal. So yeah, it’s a 
really good place to come if you come to Nerja. The bar Sevillano on the other side, the yellow 
and white building and the bar redondo which is   on the other side is a really good place to come. 
They’re both really good choices. Get your drink, get your plate of tapas. Sometimes you have enough 
drinks, enough tapas, you don’t actually need   a full meal. Obviously, you can order more from 
the menu. They do have a full menu here as well, which Melo’s helpfully showing me now. I can 
say like if you if the tapas isn’t enough, they have lots of other choices of salads and 
cheeses. They have meats meals. They’ve got cheese meals. They’ve got croquettes. They’ve 
got burgers. There’s a meat, fish. They’ve got a bit of everything really. So, and this is 
a drinks menu as well. So, yeah, just great   place to come. We’ve got a table. We’re really 
happy. And we’re going to have enjoy some food. We are still in the same place. Still in the 
same place, but we’ve got some more food now. So,   we’re going to show you that. We got some patatas 
bravas and we got some hamsi tava. Boquerones fritos in Spanish. So, boquerones fritos. Hamsi 
tava in Turkish. So, these are sort of fried anchovies and they’re really really good. 
Actually, put a lemon on there. Lemon on there first. Generous helping. And then look at those 
guys. Actually, they’re really hot. Taze taze. Really nice. So, so we’ve got our beers. 
So, yeah, we decided there’s obviously a free plate of tapas with your drinks, but 
you can also order extras as well. So,   we ordered some extras in there as 
well because we’re a little bit hungry. Oh, morning guys. How you doing? Good night then. 
It’s Tuesday morning. And we’re going to go down into Frigiliana for a coffee, ice coffee, cafe 
con hielo, I think. And this is a little our place where we’re staying, the House of Peace. This is 
kind of at the top of the the village. So, we’re going to walk down into the center. And yeah, we 
said a little bit before, really beautiful little village. All the houses whitewashed colors. It’s 
a really pretty place and we enjoy coming here. You can hear it’s quite quiet. It’s a bit like 
about half 10 in the morning. so we’re going to have a little walk down and show you the sights 
and enjoy our iced coffee because temperature is already quite high, isn’t it, Melo? But nice. 
But we like it. We’re not complaining at all. No. Heat. Heat. Our favorite place. Our favorite place, Vinos 
el Lagar. Yeah, we came here last night. We came here most nights when we were 
in Fijiliana. Yeah, as I said before,   it’s really reasonably priced drinks in 
there. Really nice view. and the seats are the old barrels that use the seats. It’s 
really like makes it really nice setting. It’s kind of like telling you a little secret 
about Fragiliana, this place, I think, because   the drinks are so cheap. The food’s so nice. It 
kind of feels like we’re sort of giving you a little secret here. So, we need to delete this. 
We need to delete that bit. Delete that. Yeah. But yeah, really, really nice place. You 
see one Moscatel like Sherry, it’s just one. And I think the wines are just like €1.50,   aren’t they really? So beers 
similar, nice selection of tapas. It’s the kind of place you have to walk in 
the shade when you walk up the hill because   this is quite hilly. And coming up on 
the right is Melo’s favorite t-shirt. Every time we come here, we don’t lie. Have to 
have to look at this t-shirt. Your favorite. Yeah. Nice summer hat. Coming at this um this point here where the 
road sort of or the path splits is a really nice spot. To go right you go up the steps 
up the hill and on the left you sort of walk around in a circuit around the village. 
To go up the up the hill you can go round   up up and down the other side. So they’re 
both quite nice routes around the village. Napo. So hot. So hot. Need some 
water. Okay, cool. Feel better now. Yeah, we’re going to get a 
coffee now. Yeah, definitely. So, we just got our coffees and yesterday 
we had what they call like a batido, which is a iced coffee sort of mix. And today we 
just gone for like the normal ice with coffee sort of thing. So the one before we had yesterday 
was more blended. This is a bit lighter. Heat. Heat. So, this is basically in the 
in the center. I’m going to   come up here because it looks like I’m 
talking from through the gate. yeah, this is basically in the the center square now. 
They got a restaurant cafe in the middle there that covered the taberna that taberna del 
Sacristan and it’s all open during the day   and in the evenings for meals and really 
good food. and behind us the the church But you’re going to have I’m going to have I’m 
thinking well the guy said the special today was turbo like a fish. So I might try that if he 
said, you know, hopefully it’s good. And I might get something like just a small plate. You’re 
going to get the boquerones fritos, aren’t you? So could get another small plate. Maybe like 
the squid. It’s sort of like fried as well. So like fried anchovies, squid rings, baby squid. So 
similar, but like squid and anchovies. So yeah, that’s what I’m thinking at the moment. And 
cheese board. And cheese board as well. Yeah. Cheers. What’s the Spanish one? Salude. Salude. 
Salude. We’re in Spain. Salude. We just sat down for our meal at this nice lovely restaurant and 
made our order. We’re just waiting for our food now. So hungry now. Yeah. You’ve got Melo’s got 
ham coming. Large portion. We’ve got some cheese coming and we got some baby squid and we got some 
fish as well as too special, isn’t it? So, yeah, we’re looking forward to that, I think. Weather 
is beautiful. It’s really warm, isn’t it? Yeah, it’s really nice little place. There’s a 
little pond area next to it from there and nice plants and stuff. So, lots of they have like 
plant pots on the wall and stuff on the wall, don’t they? Yellow colors and blues. 
And yeah, it’s really warm evening,   isn’t it? It’s really nice sit outside tonight. 
So, yeah. Really nice wine. And nice wine as well. Okay, so we’ve got our food to the table 
now. We’ve got the Boquerones Fritos,   which looks really good there. And we’ve got 
the fried baby squid there as well. That looks really nice. And we’ve got some cheese and 
nuts with some fruit on there. Some grapes   and some sort of raisins and stuff. So yeah, 
we’ve got a few little plates to start and um we’re going to dig in. We’re going to see 
what it’s like. And yeah, it looks really   tasty. So we’re going to enjoy. I finished my 
food, my drink, and still I’m still waiting. Yeah, it’s been a while, but we had we had our 
start and then I think the guy didn’t recognize that I’d ordered something after the turbo this 
he said it was a special but then didn’t bring it but I’ I’ve reminded him and I think he’s 
going to bring it. So hopefully I’m going to get   it soon. We’ll take a video of it when it arrives 
because I’m interested to see what it looks like. I don’t know what it will be. So we’ll be we’ll 
all be interested to see what it is I think. An hour later. Yes, you got your fish now. It’s 
arrived. I feel like one of those things that open like 3 hours later. One of those screens 
on before us. But yeah, it’s arrived. I’ve got my You need to give us 50% discount possibly. 
We’ll ask it. But no, this uh this is it. It looks good. White fish, few veggies, and some 
potatoes. Actually is green. Green on the edge, isn’t it? Let me just lift that up. See if I can 
I think it’s got lots of bones in, I would say, by the look of that. So, I’m going to pick my 
way through. Let’s try some of this meat first. That is nice, actually. That is good. Don’t lie 
to us. I’m not lying. It’s good. That’s tasty. It’s nice salty. I never ever see that fish 
in my I’m not sure what I’m not sure what fish this is to be perfectly honest with you. 
But I know that one. Try and find out. That’s   definitely a cauliflower. That’s a broccoli. 
That’s a carrot. And that’s a potato. It’s not quite fried. It’s a white broccoli. 
Yeah. Enjoy. Salty. Chopped. Have it. I’m going might go for the he I am everybody. Jesus. Hallelujah. Heat. Heat. Lord our heaven. One thing Everybody congratulations. Heat. Heat. It’s good. Got dinner in a show. What not 
to like? It’s brilliant. Didn’t expect Didn’t expect this music tonight. So, it’s 
beautiful. Had to wait for my food. But the music and the food’s been perfectly like bones. 
There’s lots of bones in it. Quite bony fish, but it is nice. I’ve enjoyed 
it. Tasty. Tasty. Tasty. Yeah. Garlic has garlic. I don’t know what 
the translation is. Yeah. Your dadish. Try the fish. Really good. Ever. Oh yeah. My leg coming for you. I’m walking for you. That one over there is the Irish bar in the hotel. Your dad’s favorite. My dad’s favorite. Yeah. 
Cochran’s Irish bar. You can kind of see on the top. And then you’ve got like the hotel 
rooms, apartments there. And then that’s the little walk. You can walk underneath the balcony 
all the way around to the beach up that way. See you. Cheers. Cheers. Salute. Salute. Where are we now? So, 
we’re back in our favorite bar frigiliana for the evening. Yeah. We didn’t come here last night, so 
we felt like we needed to come tonight. Yeah. So, we’re back in here for a glass of 
wine and we’ve got a little glass of sherry moscatel as well. One dry for me and 
one sweet for Melo because she’s really sweet, doesn’t it? Thank you. Um so, yeah. So, we’re 
enjoying our evening. We just got here and yeah, we’re just going to enjoy the evening here 
and have some drinks and watch the world go by. And how much did we pay for two the two wines of 
wine and two? I think it’s about like six €6.50. €6.50. So like €6.50 for those in Worcester we 
can buy just one pint of beer in Worcester that get you one coffee. Oh coffee. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. 
One glass of wine that get you one. Yeah. So yeah, like we we said before anyway that it’s very 
reasonable place. It’s good price. And it’s   a really nice place just on the hill up into 
Frigilana, isn’t it? So really easy place to stop off and enjoy a drink in the evening. 
We love to come here. We do love to come.   It’s kind of like come here. It’s kind of like our 
local bar. Yeah, they didn’t know us, but we know they might not know us, but we definitely

such a lovely woman. Animal lover. Yeah. One of Merhaba. So, here we are. Basically, we walked 
up the to the top of Frigiliana. We’ve got a beautiful view of the village over here. You see 
it lit up at night. It looks amazing. The sea’s in the distance. You probably obviously can’t see 
at the moment, but you can see the the village   down below and the restaurants and the bars. 
We were down here to my right, just down here, you can see a row of lights there. That’s the 
garden restaurant, which is a nice restaurant, which obviously has that view as well, which 
is really nice place. This is kind of like   the viewpoint place where people a lot of people 
walk up to during the day. This can be quite busy. A lot of people obviously walking up the village 
during the day and having a look out there at the   moment. Obviously, it’s a bit later. We’re the 
only people here, which is quite nice for our video. And you can go up the path there a little 
bit further up. And if you can see the lights just up there, there’s another restaurant just 
further just a little bit further up the hill. And that is the kind of the highest point kind of the highest point in the village. 
So that’s a nice spot and but to be honest with you everywhere up here it’s 
got a view. It’s quite steep. So,   we were at the bar just downstairs down 
there down the hill only a few minutes ago and we’ve walked up here and we’ve 
got this magnificent view already. So, and maybe we’ll pop into that 
restaurant at some point. Maybe. Maybe. So, as you can see from the sign 
there, this is the garden restaurant up here in Frigiliana. How about that? There’s a restaurant here as well. El Adarve Heat. Heat. Hola. Hola. Good morning. Herkese 
merhabalar. So, this is our last day in Frigiliana and it’s beautifully sunny as it has 
been all the week. And yeah, we just come up to to have a wander around. Unfortunately, the 
coffee shop we’ve been to a couple of times   is shut this morning. So, we’re going to have 
to find a nice coffee elsewhere. But yeah, we’re just having a little wander around for 
the last morning we’re able to here really. So, the bit we were just standing at there, the 
little area with looks out across the valley,   the viewpoint. That’s just we were just stood 
there taking a look across the views to the sea. This down here to the left is the garden 
restaurant. It’s a nice restaurant up the top of the hill here. There’s a little bit 
further you can go up. this I think it’s   called the balcon balcony restaurant which is 
kind of furthest point in Frigiliana sort of thing up the hill. We’ll walk around up there 
but it’s got great views back down the hill. oh hey Steve. Hos geldiniz. What you doing 
here? I just bought this house. We’re going to live here from now on. Okay. You fine 
for that? So, we don’t need to fly back. Just going to stay here. Walk around the 
streets. Saka. Saka. Saka mu? Saka yok. I’d love to tell you what that story is 
about, but I really don’t know. I think   that guy just gave them some stuff, but 
they don’t look No, they do look happy. I think they’re waving goodbye. They’re 
not like waving in don’t come back. When you’re walking around these lovely streets, 
you kind of get transfixed by some of the doorways because it’s like the white paint and then 
they have these beautifully painted like blues,   greens, yellows doorways and some really 
nice little touches like this like that like knocker hand like a stone in the 
hand type thing. It looks really cool. Should we get one for our house? Yeah. That was a nice little square, wasn’t it? Not 
sure if that was like the Italian quarter,   but there’s a lot of Italian restaurants. 
Hi, Melo. Naber. Senden naber? There’s quite a lot a few nice places down there,   but it’s like a lot of Italian places. Like a 
little steakhouse as well, but looks nice. Enjoy it. This is one of the beaches walking down to 
in Nerja. There’s a couple of restaurants there just from just in front of us and the 
Italian one above. This is a lot busier in the daytime. It’s a little bit quieter now. But 
it’s about there’s lots of beaches in there. Like three or four really. So at least I’m sure 
there’s more than that. The ones I know of. I love these like patterned steps as well. The 
pattern pathways you walk look so beautiful. Okay, we’ve just showed you a little bit on the 
square there about the Italian restaurants and a   few little places. It looks quite touristy area. 
There’s lots of quite big queues of people trying to get into places down there. We’ve just come 
to sit down at a place just off the the street near the Balcony Europa. I’ve gone for some kind 
of non-spanish food i suppose got some nice chips there and a hot dog with pulled pork. It looks 
really good. That looks like a chunky hot dog to   be fair. So Melo’s gone for the vegan burger 
with with those fries. Good looking fries as well. So we haven’t seen too much of this sort 
of stuff on the menu, have we? So we just sort   of we saw this and thought we’re hungry. Let’s 
just have some food. Later we can get a drink and some tapas if we’re still hungry. So that’s 
what we’ve decided. And yeah, it’s a beautiful evening and we’re just going to enjoy our food. 
Okay, so we want to do a bit more of this. We keep we normally forget but we want to show you the 
bills and the receipts of what we’re eating. So   this is how much that meal cost just for the two 
of us 25.20 Euros. So the mel’s cheeseburger was 10.80. My uh hot dog was 11.80 and the one coke 
2.60. So not bad. Pretty good meal. Meal food’s not expensive here. So generally that’s that’s a 
decent price. You can probably find cheaper but What did you do? So, we came up to this 
little rooftop bar just above Sevillano Tapas restaurant where we’ve been eaten a few 
times this week. So, across the way there, you can see then the streets on the table. 
That’s where the tapas bar on the roof is   just for meals. So, it’s just for dinners. 
This one over here, you come up to the third floor. You go you go in the building, take 
the lift up to the third floor and you can do   it’s called the Volks Bar like Volkswagen. 
You like Volkswagen things here. So yeah, and you can take the lift up to the third floor 
and find this nice little rooftop. So yeah,   you got a nice view of some on the roof 
and nice view up to the sea as well. Perfect. We were just saying 
how thirsty we were. So Coke,   ice cold does the job. Perfect. And obviously 
with Spain you normally get a little free little plate of food. We got some sweets in there for 
some reason with it with our nuts. But yeah,   just saying to me, we come to this place 
a lot. I never knew about the rooftop. So, this is like a new thing for me, a 
new thing for us. And yeah, it’s nice. Cheers. Cheers. Second to 
last night here. So, yeah, we came up to this nice rooftop bar for a 
drink and we’re going to enjoy our second   to last night. Got one more day still. We will 
stop. Another day at the beach hopefully. We are alcoholic now. We had loads of alcohol 
when we get home. No more at least a week or two. Two days or one day. Probably one day. 
Yeah. But yeah, lovely lovely view up here. The rooftops the terrace is quite nice and the 
blue to see and the clouds beautiful colors. This is the lift, guys. Enjoy it. Um, 
yeah. So, it’s Sevillano Volks bar level three. Get a lift up here. Really 
good. Would recommend. I think this way. We are Having another drink now. Another drink. 
But yeah, we couldn’t get into the tapas bars or the bars the baron bars along the street that 
we normally go to. Been really busy this week.   So quite lucky to get a table. We’ve been quite 
lucky in the past, but this week not so lucky. But there’s lots of other options if you don’t get 
a table there. This one, Pacomari, for example, we had the meal in the restaurant park just down. 
No, that way. It’s a courtyard area. We went for a meal. This is actually looks more like the 
tapas and small plates and drinks bar area. So, but nice little street seat on the table like 
we have done before. So, take in the atmosphere,   take in the crowds and have a have a 
nice beer. So, we’re happy here. Cheers. So, as the saying goes, is all good things 
must come to an end and this is the end of our trip to Nerja and Frigiliana for this year. 
We’ve had a brilliant week in the sunshine. It’s been beautiful all the way through. We’ve had a 
nice time on the beach. We’ve had some great food   and drink and we’ve been relaxed and we’ve 
seen some lovely places. Some we know well, some we know not so well. And it’s been 
a really enjoyable week. We’ve absolutely   loved it. It’s a great place to come. Both city 
both places the town of Nerja for the beaches and lovely atmosphere in the night and the day 
for Frigiliana for a bit more of a relaxed   feel some lovely bars there as well but a bit 
more laidback vibe so if you can come to both or either I definitely say do it and from me 
and Mel this is goodbye and we’ll see you soon Heat. Heat.
