Pacific League Rakuten 3-1 Nippon-Ham (15th, Rakuten Mobile)
Rakuten defeated Nippon-Ham 3-1 to return to the win column for the first time since June 20. The first run scored in the first inning, but in the bottom half of the inning, with one out and runners on first and second, Fumiya Kurokawa infielder, sitting at fourth for the sixth consecutive game, swung at a 149-kilometer fastball up the middle that would have been a ball ball if he had looked away. The first two runs came in the bottom of the first inning.
Starting pitcher Shoji pitched the longest seven innings of the season, throwing a season-high 105 pitches and not runs from the second inning onwards. Nishiguchi, who pitched as the second reliever in the eighth inning, put the team in a pinch with runners on first and second with no runs, but closer the next three struck out in a row. In the ninth inning, Sho Suzuki allowed one hit.
The team has now won all six home games wearing their summer-only uniforms, which feature vivid pink as the main color. Their next goal is to win the first game since April 29th.
