Hamamatsu Flower Park is a botanical garden on the shores of Lake Hamana. The park covers approximately 30,000 square meters and boasts 3,000 different species of plants. Here, you can enjoy seasonal flowers and foliage year-round.
The red, white, and pink plum blossoms bloom in mid-February and are most popular through mid-March. Around February, the park’s plants begin to bud, and by early April, all the tulips bloom in vibrant colors. Spring in Japan is also famous for its cherry blossoms, and if you look up, you can see Yoshino and double cherry trees blooming throughout the park. Beneath the park’s cherry trees is a popular spot for cherry blossom viewing parties in Hamamatsu City. The cherry blossoms blooming against a bright blue sky are beautiful, but they also have a certain elegance at night, under illuminated lighting. The early-flowering Kanzanji Sakura and Hina Sakura, produced by the park’s first master, bloom from mid-February to early March and cannot be seen anywhere else in Japan.
