Japan: Luxury hotel group Chedi Hospitality has entered the Japanese market with The Chedi Niseko, a boutique alpine hotel set to open in June 2029 in Hirafu, Niseko.

Developed by Ryowha Group and located in one of Japan’s most popular ski and nature regions, the property will offer access to ski slopes, year-round outdoor activities, and local culinary experiences.

Chedi Hospitality plans to introduce seasonal culinary events over the next three winters as part of its pre-opening strategy, blending global cuisine with Japanese hospitality traditions.

CEO Stephan Schupbach said: “Niseko presents a rare convergence of natural beauty, international appeal, and all-season relevance. Our expansion into Japan speaks to our long-term commitment to cultivating meaningful hospitality experiences in destinations that share our values of authenticity, sophistication, and global connectivity.”

The project, which marks the brand’s return to Asia, will join the group’s alpine portfolio which includes The Chedi Andermatt in Switzerland and an upcoming property in Trojena, Saudi Arabia.
