Tokyo Game Show 2025: Japan’s Largest Gaming Event

Tokyo Game Show is where games, creators and players from all around the globe gather to experience games across all genres, from popular titles to indie games and even games developed by students. The trade show will also showcase new technology, merchandise, live performances, advance sales, announcements and trailers from developers and sales professionals.

Last year’s event broke records with 985 exhibitors and over 274,000 attendants. This year’s show will take place at Makuhari Messe Halls 1-11, the International Conference Hall and the Event Hall. September 25 and 26 will be dedicated as “business days,” while September 27 and 28 will be open for the general public.

The event will also be streamed across eight platforms and video streaming services such as YouTube, Niconico, Twitch, TikTok and Bilibili.

Exhibitors

Tokyo Game Show 2025 will feature a total of 4,083 exhibitor booths, both domestic and international — making the event the largest in its history. Attendees can expect a diverse range of exhibits, from AR/VR games to mobile, PC and home consoles. Notable exhibitors include Capcom, Bandai Namco Entertainment, Infold Games, Square Enix, Riot Games, Sony Interactive Entertainment and many more.

Event Stage

The event stage will host a variety of keynote speeches, sponsor sessions, the Organizer’s Project and the Japan Game Awards ceremony.

On September 25 from 11:00 to 12:00, Hideaki Nishino, the president and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment will deliver a keynote speech on game distribution innovation and the impact of the PlayStation Store. 

Other stage events will be announced at a future date.

Cosplay Area

Every year, the Tokyo Game Show attracts a large number of cosplayers. The East Area and West Area inside Hall 9 will serve as a dedicated cosplay area for creators to assemble.

Cosplayers must register at the cosplay reception area at the second floor of the International Conference Hall, where they will receive a wristband and instruction notes for participation. Cosplay dressing rooms will also be open on September 27 and 28. Guests who wish to use the dressing rooms must complete registration.

Family Game Park

The Family Game Park provides a family-friendly area for children to enjoy both the educational and play aspects of gaming. The park is reserved for children of junior high school age and under with their accompanying parents or guardians. There will be new games, workshops, stage events, a dedicated kids’ food corner with special character collaboration menus, a stamp rally and other fun activities.

A family-only rest area will be available on the second floor, and a nursing room will be open on the east side of the central entrance on the second floor as well. 

Creator Lounge

The Creator Lounge is a exclusive area for influencers with an Influencer Pass. The lounge will have a relaxing rest area, a gaming test space, an editing and planning work area and a mini-studio for filming and live-streaming. Light refreshments and beverages will also be provided. 

Tickets

There are three available ticket types. The general 1-day admission tickets are for junior high school students and older, available for ¥3000 for each day. Elementary school students and younger may enter the event for free.

Special tickets are ¥1500 and reserved for guests with a disability certificate, war injury certificate, or atomic bomb survivor’s health certificate. Guests must present one of these original certificates on the day of the event. Special tickets are only available through advance sales through Ticket Pia from August 8.

Fast tickets are ¥6000 and include priority entry benefits and exclusive merchandise. Fast ticket holders may enter the venue through Hall 1-8 or Hall 9-11. A special tote bag and sticker featuring the event’s main visual will be distributed at the Hall 1-8 Priority Admission Lane exchange counter. After the priority lane closes, gifts can be picked up from the information desk on the second floor of the central entrance from 11:00. Tote bags and stickers will have a blue design on September 27 and a red design on September 28.
