we found the BEST photo spot at 📍Nachi Falls (surprise at the end) #japan #travelphotographer

We are at the tallest waterfall in Japan. But there is one specific spot we were on the hunt for and about 1,000 steps before we get there. Wish us luck. [Music] Oh, you thought we were there? Not yet. More stairs. [Music] Don’t stop here. [Music]

do you want to know the most embarrassing part about it? I’m a little afraid to admit this…

After picking up our car in Wakayama and taking the scenic (avoid tolls) route to get here we didn’t arrive until AFTER the shrines had closed.

What most people don’t realise is that Nachi Falls in general remains open 24/7 so luckily we were able to drive around to the main Seiganto-ji Temple for free after hours

Set on finding this ONE iconic spot we ran around snapping photos but couldn’t quite spot it.
It was driving me crazy but the rain was coming in and since we were staying at a nearby hotel for the night with plans to return for the morning, we left
I spent the night stalking instagram for extra clues to where this mystery spot was and i thought i found it…

only to walk a million stairs from the very bottom of the falls to the highest shrines to discover it still wasn’t the right spot.

and that’s not even the embarrassing part

it’s the fact that i stumbled across it by accident on the way back down and around to a spot that was ONLY A COUPLE OF STEPS AWAY FROM WHERE WE WERE YESTERDAY.

you know, the spot we got a park right next to…
but hey it’s all about the journey, not the destination right?!? or something like that haha

  1. the wandering donut is, in fact, wandering. thank you algorithm for this factual recommendation

  2. Those last pictures are AMAZING.
May I know what camera you've used to take them?:)

  3. I love stairs and hiking on a vacation, but that humidity would make it a different story.
