Hi all. I recently posted about my upcoming trip to Japan with my wife asking for recommendations of car activities, some of y'all mentioned the FUN2DRIVE Hakone driving experience and it really caught my eye. They have such a sick inventory in their website to choose from, and out of the ones that are currently available, these are the ones that I'm leaning towards to. If you had to pick one, which one would you choose and why?
Consider the following prices for each:
GTR R34 Nismo –
||
||
|Regular Price: Peak Price**:|¥85,980 ¥94,980|
RX-7 FD –
||
||
|Regular Price: Peak Price**:|¥65,980 ¥72,980|
Supra JZA80 –
||
||
|Regular Price: Peak Price**:|¥63,980 ¥70,980|
NS-X –
||
||
|Regular Price: Peak Price**:|¥76,980 ¥84,980|
P.D. I was also considering the 964 911 turbo since it's one of my favorite cars of all time, but I feel like driving a real JDM is mandatory for this experience.
I appreciate your feedback!

Also, do y’all think it’s really worth the price? I just found out that you can rent an R34 GTR for cheaper and have it for a full day. I appreciate your feedback!
I have nothing to compare it against but if you are charging almost $1000 for three hours thats kinda fucked.
I always rent cars from Omoshiro in Chiba. Taking the Supra for example, you’ve said you can have it for 3 hours at ¥64,980. From Omoshiro you can have a Supra with that money for 2 full days and have nearly ¥10,000 in change
I’ve done this experience. It’s very much a tourist thing. You don’t get to open the cars up much at all but you get taken through the Hakone mountains and famous drifting and windy mountain routes which is cool. I took the red NSX.
They make you secure with a huge amount of money. I think the bond is like 4k.
If you are tall you might have difficulty in the RX7 and NSX. I’ve driven both and was a hard fit, so I’d probably try the R34 next out of those options but personally I like the look of their Datsun Z restomod.
Are you renting for the drive or for the car? If it’s for the experience of driving the car, just choose the one you connect to most, and if it’s the 964 Turbo, go for it. I’ve got a few cars I’d love to drive in Japan, including an R34 and an aircooled 911, and personally I’d take the 911, it’s the most unique experience.
If you’re going for the drive, just rent a GR86 (or no joke, a current Prius, it’s really fun to drive at a fraction of the cost of an 86) and hit up all your favorite roads without worrying about schedules, following people, etc. I’ve been to Japan 8 or so times, and always rent something fun for a few days. It lets you explore at your own pace.
I’d go NSX, no, wait the Skyline.
No, no. It has to be the NSX!
NA-1 my beloved😍
