Unmissable tips for seeing Mount Fuji in Japan!

That is the last night. If the world was ending, I want to be nice to you.

My top tips for spotting Mount Fuji 🗻

1. Be flexible with your schedule and prepared to try and fail many times. This is especially true if you’re travelling during summer because clouds are lower, the air is humid and it’s rarely clear enough outside.
2. Check Mount Fuji index, but don’t rely on it too much, being prepared to try many times is likely more successful than trying to find the perfect time slot.
3. Figure out how you want to do it. A day trip from Tokyo is the easiest if you’re staying there. However, if you pick the right day, you may even be able to see it from observatories in Tokyo. Most places where you’ll be able to see Fuji are, however at least an hour south or west of the city and the spot that’s supposedly best (Fuji five lakes area/Kawaguchiko ) is 2-3 hours and the logistics are complicated unless you have a car.
4. How much time and money are you willing to invest? Do you want Fuji views from your room or are you prepared to travel? If you want to go all in, combine it with an onsen trip but make sure to book more than just one night to increase your chances of seeing Fuji.

These clips are taken near the caves in Enoshima Island, 1,5 hours south of Tokyo. It’s a great day trip destination, but it was too cloudy to spot Fuji during most of the day. In the end, we were very lucky to get Fuji just in time for sunset. Truly one of my best moments in Japan. 🥰🗻
