KYOTO VLOG | Café Moments, Sweet Koji Recipe, Last Weeks of Pregnancy
[Music] [Music] Hello, welcome back to my channel. If you are new around here, my name is Sho. So today I’m going to film about my day in Kyoto. I’m currently 39 weeks of pregnant and I kind of hesitate to go out because it’s very hard. Um, and it’s just hard to carry my big belly and also I’m afraid of labor might happen when I’m out. So, it’s kind of hard to decide what to do today. But, um, I went to see doctor yesterday and he said the baby’s not coming yet. and he even encouraged me to go out more. So I decided to go out and enjoy the day uh and eat whatever I want. So today I’m going to Okasakia which is one of my favorite spot and I hope you like it. So let’s go. So this is Okasaki. It was 38° so I was almost melting. So this is how Okazaki looks like. It’s mix of art, culture, and nature. This is a shrine, museum, [Music] lots of cafes, and there are lots of shops are selling Japanese dishwear. [Music] I wish I could stop by, but I didn’t because I wanted to come here. This is my favorite crepe shop. One time I had three crepes in one visit. I ordered um banana, chocolate, and ice cream. I’m so obsessed with this crepe. [Music] and I visited the kimono exhibition. I couldn’t film inside. So, this is from a museum shop. So, they displayed um old kimonos. Um, some of them are from 100 years ago, but the design was stunning and I just stood there and staring. [Music] And this is today’s lunch spot. I ordered Dolia. Actually, this cafe is part of a koji shop. So, all the menu is made with fermented ingredients. [Music] Koshi is a traditional Japanese ingredient made by adding a special kind of mold to steamed rice. If you know miso, you’ve already met koji. It’s a key part of how it’s made. Coji is great for your digestion. And last spot is chocolate shop. [Music] This chocolate shake saved my life. It’s so refreshing. And I’m back home. I picked up some coy today. Um, so I’m going to show you how I make amakoji. It’s made mostly from rice, but it’s naturally sweet and so tasty. I always keep some in my fridge and use it as a sugar substitute when I cook. Adding ki rice and water. Mix it and keep it warm with 60° for 6 hours. [Music] Mix it when you know this. And that’s it. [Music] This is my current favorite drink. Adding amakoi and sparkling water. A little bit of lemon. And that’s it. [Music] This is the drink I made. Cheers. [Music] M. So, I found this recipe in a cafe and I thought it’s kind of weird to have a rice in a drink, but honestly, it tastes amazing and it’s good for your health, so it’s perfect. I love it. [Music] This might be the first time I really enjoyed going out since entering my final months of pregnancy. I’m glad I did it. I wish I could go out more often. I’m not sure how many days left, but once I deliver a baby, I have to stay at home at least 4 months. So, yeah, maybe I should go more. I’m curious, how do you stay in the final months of pregnancy? Do you go out often or do you stay at home? So, thank you very much for watching my video. Um, I hope you enjoy it and I will see you in the next one. Bye-bye. [Music]
Hi friends ☁️
I’m currently in my final weeks of pregnancy, so everything has felt a little more tender and intentional lately. I finally had the energy to go out again—visited one of my favorite areas in Kyoto: Okazaki. Cozy cafés, strolled through quiet streets, and made my go-to sweet koji drink at home. I hope you enjoy it 💛

I really enjoy your vlogs as it gives. a local's perspective and thanks for sharing the local spots one does not see in tourist books. Yes, walking during last weeks is a great idea and can help induce birth especially if you are overdue. Good luck with motherhood and thanks for video – it cannot be easy filming and editing during your last weeks of pregnancy!
