【SHIMANE graphy】Hikimi River Ayu – Crystal Clear Waters of Shimane | 匹見川の鮎

[Music] Deep in the forest where the air is pure and the stream whispers softly. Here flows the Hikimi River, a crystal clearar tributary of the Tekkatu River. Its waters polish the stones below, nurturing moss and life itself. The IU that dwell here glide through shimmering currents, feeding on the moss, growing strong and pure. Their flavor is clean and delicate, a reflection of the river’s pristine heart. Green of the mountains, blue of the water and the silver gleam of Au. Hikimei River is a living painting drawn by nature. [Music] Here nature awaits. Come and see this quiet miracle for yourself. [Music]

【Shimane graphy】
The Takatsu River, a clear stream flowing through Masuda City, Shimane Prefecture.
One of its tributaries, the Hikimi River, is home to ayu fishing known as “tomozuri.”
This traditional Japanese method takes advantage of the ayu’s territorial nature:
an “otori-ayu” (decoy fish) is released into another ayu’s territory, provoking it to attack.
The angler then hooks the defending fish at the moment of impact.
Enjoy the striking contrast between the steep valley’s natural grandeur and the crystal-clear waters of the Hikimi River.
