We went CAMPING in Hokkaido, Japan! (Part 1)
[Music] We don’t know what we want. We don’t know what we need. I’m just really hungry and sad. Nothing is working out. [Applause] [Music] We are here to get our camping equipment. It’s our very first time camping, so we don’t really know whether we want to invest in expensive firstand one. So, we decided to come to a secondhand store, which is this one, to get the stuff good. [Music] Okay, guys. First process. We don’t know what we want. We don’t know what we need. We don’t know what to buy. Okay, so there are more stuff here. All these are snow peak tents, I think. And all of them look the same, but they’re actually different. More tens. Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh. This is really hard. Okay, I realized there’s one easy way to kind of decide on a 10. After I’ve overcame my anxiety and shock and started reading the labels properly, I realized that they actually do tell you about the condition and they give pretty helpful recommendations. For example, over here, this says haven’t been used before. This is like in really good condition and this is secondhand. They also talk about like they have missing pack. There’s supposed to be 17, but there’s only 16. The guy rope is also missing. So, I would not get this cuz I would need to buy more things to supplement the tent. So, the plan right now is just to find a tent big enough for two people and they have very good condition. [Music] at our store. We finally found something that is in very good condition. It’s good for two people and it says beginners can use this comfortably. So, we’ll just get this one. This is the sleeping mat area so that we don’t have to sleep on the hard ground. And after looking at all these, they’ve decided to get this one simply because it says they have confirmed that it’s working. You’re getting this All these are chairs. How much is it? It’s 800 yen. To be honest, I don’t know if it’s cheap cuz I don’t know what the market price is. So, we found obvious one. I don’t know what this brand is. It’s like light and comfy. How’s it [Music] Okay, he found something interesting. So, this flat thing becomes a table. And then there’s the seat cover. Wow, this really cool. We are now looking for a stove, a burner, whatever to help us cook. And the things are all so expensive. Okay. It’s like $50 for a burner. It’s like $40 for this. I don’t know. Am I cheaper? What’s the original price for all these things? Oh, this this big ring is $40. [Music] But I want to get this. It’s so huge. 58. [Music] There’s even a coffee grinder there. Getting the gas canister. We’re going to get that. Yay. Finally done getting all the stuff. The total was 290 and there was also taxfree at this shop. So, it was good. So, we are at Daiso to get all the stuff that were too expensive to get from a proper camping shop. And there are so many things. They even sell fire starting liquids, bamboo, charcoal stove, charcoal, lots of very environmentally unfriendly single use stuff. We need a table. How much is it? We were getting it. We got charcoal and so many charcoal tongs as well. Now we are trying to find the food tongs. Okay, now let’s get it. Chopping board aluminum foil sponges as well. Headlight. Okay, let’s go. Our [Music] final stop, the supermarket to get some food. Wow. Mushrooms, eggplants, sample. I’ve never tried that. Shall we try mini tomato pork? There’s also this weird beef and pork thing. I’m so curious. My friend, [Music] we are going to our campsite. This is the first campsite we are visiting and it’s super quiet here. There’s barely anyone. [Music] Oh my gosh, this so aesthetic. We are here. This is our campsite. So, we got one that comes with a cabin because we are noobs. This is where we’re supposed to pitch our tent. And then if it rains or we just don’t feel like it, we can always sleep in here. The cabin. Yeah, it’s pretty small, but good enough for just hiding from the rain. [Music] Okay, we are finally done transporting all the stuff to the cabin. We’re going to set up the chairs, test out the stuff we bought, and see whether they actually work. We still need to cook, bathe, and everything. And we didn’t get much sleep on the flight, so [Music] Guys, we are now going to try pitch the tent. Our goal is to finish it within 30 minutes. And if we can’t finish it within 30 minutes, we will give up and do it tomorrow. It’s already 6:00, so it’s only like 1 hour till the sun sets. [Music] It’s been 40 minutes since we started. How are you feeling? We got the inner tent set up. Now we are just left with the outer tent and I’m very optimistic. We almost there. Anyway, the condition of this tent is really, really good. See, it looks so new. Everything looks so new. It’s so clean. No dirt at all. I don’t think I want to sell this back to the shop. [Music] Guys, this is very unfortunate, but we have given up on completing the tent today. We only managed to figure out how to set up the inner layer. So, we are just going to pack down the tent, make sure it doesn’t fly off at night, and then continue with this tomorrow morning. [Music] Hi guys. Now, we’re trying to cook dinner. Hopefully, dinner goes well. [Music] Today we have rice balls, some meat, mushrooms, eggplants. This is our first meal since what? 4:00 a.m. I don’t know if the fire just died or what. Honestly, it looks like it died. [Music] We are not sure if it’s because of the Daiso brick charcoal that we bought. So yeah, he went to get normal charcoal from the reception. I’m just really hungry now. I’m hungry and sad. Nothing is working out. He can’t even eat food. And the food is so simple. It’s just frozen oni. But we can’t even heat it up. [Music] [Applause] Oh, [Music] yes. The meat seems to be cooking well. Review of the meat, please. It tastes really good. It’s dripping out, but it makes it more the more satisfying. [Music] M. It’s good. It’s good. Oh goodness. Oh. Oh. You know what? No more barbecue for us next time. We are now going to bathe. This is the shower room. One good thing about the campsite is that they have all these shower rooms. You put 100 yen coin inside. Then you press this button to start the water. Water comes from here. You can also adjust the temperature as well. It’s 11:00 p.m. now. These two headlights are the samples of light. It’s the end of day one. The day did not go as planned. We couldn’t figure out the tent. We couldn’t figure out the barbecue. Thankfully, we booked the special tent site that comes with a cabin. We’re very glad we have this as a backup because we couldn’t figure out how to build the tent. Camping is not easy. We are so mean.
