Rising Star Doualla Skips Tokyo

The Italian athlete, a star of the summer, will not participate in the Tokyo World Championships. After her great performances, the idea was to see her compete in the 4×100, but Doualla decided to forgo this opportunity. The performances – For the fifteen-year-old, this summer was a dream. In July, she participated in the European Youth Olympic Festival in Skopje, the under-18 European Championship, where she won gold in both the hundred meters and the relay. A few days ago, she achieved the same result but in the higher category, the under-20 in Finland. The youngest to win the 100 meters. These performances led to the possibility of seeing Doualla also at the Tokyo World Championships in the 4×100 relay. Doualla’s words – After the victory, the Italian, when asked about the World Championships during an interview, replied: ‘It would be a dream come true and makes me realize that I have reached a point where athletics can become very important in my life. Obviously, I do not decide, so I leave the choice to my coach and the staff.’ The withdrawal – Doualla’s absence from the World Championships is communicated by her coach, Walter Monti, in agreement with the family but also with the staff and the federal president Stefano Mei. The Italian will not participate in the World Championships scheduled from September 13 to 21 in Japan.
