北海道五天四夜|DAY 2午後行程|函館女子修道院|紅磚倉庫群|函館港灣散策

On the second day of our Hokkaido trip, after visiting Noboribetsu Marine Park in the morning, our first stop in the afternoon was to explore the Women’s Convent on the outskirts of Nagoya. This is Japan’s first women’s convent, founded in 1898 by eight nuns sent from France. Dozens of nuns still live in seclusion within this century-old convent , observing strict disciplines . The museum is open to visitors, but photography is prohibited inside. Only the courtyard is open for viewing and photography. The museum displays the nuns’ daily routines, including work and prayer schedules. Visitors can view the nuns’ handmade crafts and experience the beautiful blend of faith and art. The convent’s architecture blends the style of a southern French castle, imbued with a blend of medieval Romanesque and Gothic European influences. The red brick buildings , spires, stone walls, and arches create a tranquil and solemn atmosphere. The courtyard is lush with flowers and trees, and the various flowers sway in the breeze, making it feel like being transported to a European countryside. A must-try is the soft serve ice cream from Citizens’ Forest. The peach soft serve ice cream is incredibly delicious, and the chairman instructed everyone in the group to try it. Members received a complimentary soft-serve ice cream, which everyone thoroughly enjoyed. The afternoon sun in Hakodate capped off a European-inspired journey, immersing us in the courtyard atmosphere of faith and floral fragrance. Next, we journeyed through history to the Hakodate Red Brick Warehouses, where the scenery was breathtaking and a herd of healing dairy cows was visible. We arrived at the Kanemori Red Brick Warehouses , one of Hakodate’s most iconic historical sites. Originally a commercial warehouse for port trade, it was first built in 1887 and witnessed the prosperity of Hakodate’s international trade port. It has now been transformed into a cultural and creative shopping mall. The interior of the warehouse retains its original structure while incorporating modern design. The shopping area sells Hokkaido specialty goods , handicrafts , desserts, and souvenirs. Here, you can sample popular cheesecake or find a unique souvenir in this retro atmosphere. The canal behind the warehouses is truly stunning , and the harbor scenery beside the warehouses is even more breathtaking. This is one of Japan’s earliest international ports, with canals and tourist boat piers along the harbor, where you can take the Kanemori Bay. Enjoy the breathtaking views of Mount Hakodate during a 15-minute cruise . This is not only a great spot for photos and check-in, but also a perfect place to experience the culture of Hakodate’s port city. Watching seagulls fly is such a soothing and romantic sight. This afternoon journey is a feast for both the eyes and the soul, from the solemn and tranquil atmosphere of European style to the red brick warehouse pier . The afternoon scenery of Hokkaido is a truly tranquil experience . Perhaps the meaning of travel lies in moments like these, quietly experiencing the stories told by each beautiful scene. This concludes our afternoon exploration of Hokkaido on Day 2. What was your favorite spot? Please leave a message and don’t forget to subscribe, like, and share. Thank you for watching. See you on our next trip.

📍 女子修道院(法國歐風城堡庭園)
午後的第一站,我們來到位於函館市郊的女子修道院。這是日本第一座女子修道院,創建於1898年,由法國派遣的八位修女所建立。

📍 金森紅磚倉庫群(Kanemori Red Brick Warehouse)

(Hakodate Port)
