⁴ᴷ Hokkaido: Takikawa Station (北海道: 滝川駅) – Japan Walking Tour (July, 2025)
To begin my journey around almost the entire island of Hokkaido, I took an 18-hour ferry ride and landed in Tomakomai. From there, my trip around Hokkaido officially began.
With only two days left in this journey, this day marked the final day of filming. The following day would be reserved for traveling back to Tokyo.
On this day, I traveled from Furano to Takikawa. In front of the station, there’s a shopping street with covered sidewalks, but since I arrived later in the evening, it was quiet and almost deserted.
Beyond the shopping street lies a road called “Sanbangai,” lined with restaurants and bars. However, like many suburban-style cities, Takikawa shows signs of decline in its central area, as large roadside stores have moved in and drawn activity away from the downtown district.
