Nagano Snow Monkeys
Looking for one of Japan’s most unique wildlife experiences? Meet the snow monkeys of Nagono? Start your journey from Tokyo. Just hop on the Hokuriku Shinkansen bound for Nagono station. It’s a smooth 90minute ride through the countryside. From Nagono station, take a 40minute bus to Kbayashi Anen. Then a short 30 minute scenic walk through a peaceful forest trail to reach Jigokadani Monkey Park. Once there, prepare to be amazed. Dozens of wild Japanese macaks or snow monkeys relax and bathe in steaming natural hot springs surrounded by snowy landscapes. Best time to visit winter when the monkeys are fully embracing spa life.
