LONDON – Japan winger Junya Ito has rejoined his former club Genk from relegated French Ligue 2 outfit Reims on a three-year deal, both clubs announced Saturday.
Ito left Kashiwa Reysol for Genk in January 2019, winning both the Belgian league and cup once before moving to Reims in the summer of 2022.
The 32-year-old was a key player for Reims but could not help his team avoid relegation last term as they finished 16th in the Ligue 1 before going down via a playoff.
“This feels like coming home,” Ito, who will wear the No. 10 shirt at Genk, said on their website. “I’m eager to give my all again.”
