Garda, Italia – WALKING TOUR | 🌅🍹🌼 Así es el PARAÍSO de vacaciones que estabas BUSCANDO!

Hello everyone, dear friends! 🤗 Look around, this great body of water we see is Lake Garda, with 370 square kilometers. And today, we will visit Garda, the charming town that gave its name to the majestic Lake Garda! 🤩 The name of the town, Garda, comes from “warda”, a Germanic word meaning watchtower, in reference to the many that were here, given that this was a strategic passage. 👋😉 Today we are lucky to be greeted by a huge market, full of food and traditional products from this area of the Italian Veneto. Friends, you could say that today’s walk will have 2 major themes, first we will see the market and then we will discover the old town. 😚 I guarantee you that both things are worth it, don’t miss them, it’s very entertaining! 👀🎁 This market is held on Friday mornings, usually from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., along the lakefront. 💦 This is a space steeped in local tradition and part of the Veronese lifestyle, where locals gather, bargain, and discuss the week’s news. Right now, this town exudes a peaceful atmosphere, but for centuries, this area was a frontier: first between Romans and Barbarians, and then between Venetians, Lombards, and Austrians. 😨 This blend of influences can still be seen in the architecture, the language, and even the local cuisine. One of the town’s historical driving forces was fishing, and although it remains alive today, tourism has far surpassed it. We’re already subscribed! 🦆🦆 And you? 👀 Many of these people will be eating fish from the lake. 🐟🍴 Many locals still value and preserve the consumption of fresh, local fish in their restaurants. The most characteristic fish is the “lavarello,” a white fish with soft flesh that is only found in very clear waters. The water looks very clean, but I’ve never tried freshwater fish. Can you tell me if it tastes different? 🤔😮🐟 But it’s not just fish! Garda is surrounded by olive groves that produce some of the finest oil in northern Italy. 😎 Thanks to the lake’s microclimate, citrus fruits also grow here, something quite rare so close to the Alps. 🍋✨ Look at all the fish! The whole family can eat at that size! 😂 What harmony between people from different cultures! 🌺🙌🌞🍦💖 We’re slowly getting closer to the old town… but be careful, friends: Don’t put your wallets away yet, the market isn’t over yet! 👛 If you like this tour, a like is the best souvenir you can leave us 🥰💖🎁👍 As for history, Garda was part of the Roman Empire, and then passed through Lombard, Frankish and Venetian hands. During Venetian rule, it consolidated itself as a key location for trade and transport. Venetian ships patrolled the lake to keep the area safe.⛵ After the fall of Venice (1797), it passed through Napoleonic and Austrian hands, where Garda entered a stage of militarization that left its mark on the region. The Italian coffee maker!💚🤍💖 Later, in the 19th century, Garda became a sought-after destination for the European aristocracy, who came here to relax away from the southern heat.🌞 And although its history is interesting, you will have already noticed that today, Garda also attracts tourists looking for tranquility, good food, and beautiful landscapes.🦆✨🌺 We were surprised by the magnitude of this market. What caught your attention the most? 😮🎁 Here, many houses are still family-owned, passed down from generation to generation, with roots going back centuries. Elegant residences built by Austrian and German nobles have also been preserved, with sloping roofs and formal gardens, reflecting the Central European style of the time. Garda, like other lakeside towns, became a refuge for artists, writers, and even exiled politicians. Some came for health: the lake air was believed to have healing properties. Others for inspiration. Life here follows a particular rhythm: in summer it starts early, with the light, and lasts until late at night. 🌜 In winter everything is tidied up: the rhythms slow down and the silence is part of the charm. ❄ It’s not unusual to see the same faces year after year. Many merchants have been here all their lives! ✨ Dear friends, we’re leaving the market behind and getting to know the old town of Garda! 😚👍 📍We start by getting to know the Church of Santa Maria Assunta. What a wonderful silence, what peace! 😑 The ceiling depicts the Assumption of Mary. The name Santa Maria Assunta refers to a central moment in the Catholic faith: the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. In this context, it refers to the belief that the Virgin Mary was taken to heaven, body and soul, at the end of her earthly life. The church has an interior courtyard, similar to a small cloister, a quiet place where locals and religious leaders would gather. It’s very beautiful and has preserved its historic atmosphere! 🧡 The architecture here has something peculiar: a mix of Italian country houses and Venetian details like arches and Gothic windows. That’s because, as we already mentioned, Garda belonged to the Republic of Venice for almost 400 years, until the end of the 18th century. During that time, fortresses, warehouses, and residences were built with materials brought as far away as Verona and the Adriatic. The local stone, Verona marble, is still used today for floors, fountain surrounds, and staircases. It’s part of the built landscape. If you look closely, many houses have dates carved into their walls, some from the 16th or 17th century. Now we’ll learn about the Torrente Gusa, a stream that rises in the nearby hills and flows into Lake Garda. 💦 Traditionally, the Gusa served as a source of water for mills, orchards, and domestic activities. Limoncello! Limoncello is a traditional Italian liqueur made from lemons. 🍋 Although in recent years, many variations have been created using other fruits: orange, strawberry, melon, blueberry, lemon with chocolate and cream. We bought a melon one! 🍈😋 In addition to Garda, there are other towns around the lake that are worth visiting. For example, Bardolino and Lazise, which we decided to cycle to from Garda. 🚴‍♀️🚴‍♂️ If you have the opportunity, I recommend moving between the villages by bike, because there is a bike path along the lake, which is spectacular. ✨ The light of the lake changes the atmosphere of the place, making every moment of the day have a unique charm. 😍 Friends, we are about to complete the walk through the village of Garda! We will complete the mission soon! 💪 Do you really think Italian pasta is better? 🤔🍝 Perhaps what really sets traditional and quality Italian pasta apart is how it is made and the care taken in every step, not just the manufacturing itself. Artisanal pasta is slowly dried at low temperatures, which better preserves its flavor and nutrients, and the human touch ensures attention to detail and respect for the raw material. Just like this channel, my husband or I are behind every phrase to accompany each walk with dedication and love. 🤗💖 So if you like artisan work and human warmth, subscribe for more quality content! 🔔✨ And share it with that friend who always says: let’s go, and never organizes anything! 😂🎒 Congratulations on completing today’s walk! Thank you for joining us on our routes! 🙌🌺🌞✨💖😍 See you on the next walk! 😚🍝🍈🚴‍♂️🚴‍♀️🌜🦆⛵👛🐟🍴💐
