MUST WATCH Before Visiting JUNGLIA Okinawa Japan! Mistakes to Avoid, Tips & Hacks
Junglia is a brand new adventure theme park that just opened in Okinawa, Japan on July 25th, 2025. It’s located deep in the Yambaru rainforest with adventurous attractions that will have you jumping out of the sky or fleeing from dinosaurs. In this video, I’m going to share all the need to know information to plan an exhilarating visit to Junglia. We’ll cover buying tickets using the Junglia app plus mistakes to avoid so you can make the most out of your day. These tips and hacks are based upon visiting Junglia twice so far. Once with my husband while previewing Junglia before its grand opening and then we visited once as a whole family with three young kids. There are three types of admission tickets. You can purchase a one-day ticket which provides admission into the Junglia adventure theme park and the opportunity to experience at least some of the attractions. You can purchase a spa ticket in order to enjoy Spa Junglia which includes a hot spring bath and an outdoor infinity bath or if you plan to experience both you can purchase a park plus spa one-day ticket. Please keep in mind that Spa Junglia is divided into a section for men and a section for women. Swimwear is not allowed to be worn into the baths. Everything you need for your visit is provided such as towels, lockers, shampoo, and other toiletries, hair dryers, and more. If you’re not familiar with the concept of a public bath you can read more about Spa Junglia on the website. While there are ticket counters located at the park I highly recommend purchasing tickets online in advance. You wouldn’t want to show up only to find out the tickets are completely sold out for the day. There are specially discounted tickets for residents of Japan. For us foreign visitors a one-day ticket costs 8,800 yen including tax per adult or 5,940 yen per child ages 4 to 11 years old. Three and under are free. A spa ticket costs 3,080 yen per adult or 1,870 yen per child. As foreign visitors there are four options for purchasing Junglia tickets online. Our personal favorite booking platform is Klook which we’ve been using for years to purchase attraction tickets throughout Asia. Klook is easy to use and accepts multiple forms of payment. Always be sure to check the cancellation policy before making your purchase. A Junglia one-day park ticket is valid only on the selected date and no cancellations, refunds, or changes can be made. In addition to the one-day admission ticket there are premium passes for the various attractions within the Junglia adventure theme park. Prices of the premium passes vary and they cost up to 2,640 yen for the most adventurous attractions. Originally I was going to call these premium passes optional but after a second visit to the park I realized that premium passes really are necessary if you want to fully experience Junglia. Alternatively there is a possibility that you might get a free attraction number ticket through the Junglia app to experience one of the attractions within the jungle extremes area. However there is no guarantee that you will actually get an attraction number ticket so if there’s something that you really want to do at Junglia it is best to purchase a premium pass. I recommend getting premium passes for your top two or three attractions. Certain attractions require that you have either an attraction number ticket, which there’s no guarantee you’ll get, or a premium pass. This includes the horizon balloon, all attractions within the jungle extremes area, and treasure fight which is going to open in mid-august. Although the horizon balloon is the centerpiece of the park so far it’s been suspended I suspect due to weather. The jungle extremes attractions include sky phoenix, which I highly recommend doing, bungee glider, human arrow, titan swing, treetop trekking, and sky end trekking. The premium passes sell out quickly so I would purchase them at the same time as purchasing your admission ticket and these particular premium passes do need to be purchased at least the day before your visit. There are also premium passes for the attractions which offer a standby option and these premium passes would help you to experience the attraction sooner rather than waiting in a long standby line. These types of premium passes and also ones for the shows might be available for purchase on the day but they’re subject to availability. When purchasing a premium pass be sure to select the same date as your one day ticket for visiting the park. You also get to select a specific time slot. Having premium passes will help you schedule your day at Junglia. Make sure that you allow enough time to complete one attraction and get to the next one on time. I personally recommend spacing them by at least an hour and a half or two hours. Some of the attractions take a while to experience since you first need to get harnessed into the safety gear. In summary I recommend purchasing a one day ticket as well as two or three premium passes depending upon how many adventurous activities you want to experience. Install the Junglia app on your smartphone in advance of your visit. You can link your one day ticket to the Junglia app up to seven days before your visit. I highly recommend setting this up ahead of time to make the day of your visit less stressful. I purchased our family’s Junglia tickets on Klook and displayed the voucher with all the QR codes on my laptop. I then opened the Junglia app on my phone, went to the ticket section, and clicked on the button that says scan the 2D code on your ticket. Then I scanned each family member’s ticket starting with my adult ticket. I scanned all five of our tickets onto my phone to make sure it’d be easy to coordinate as a family. Instead of scanning the QR codes from a separate device such as my laptop, you can alternatively scan them from the images saved on your phone. Click the green button, scan the 2D code from image, then allow access to your photo library. Once you’ve scanned a ticket, the ticket on the app will say general information has not been entered. Click on the general information button, then the edit button. For general information you will need to enter your name, your birth date, and your address. Once your date of birth has been entered you cannot change it, so make sure that it’s correct. Once you’ve filled in your information, click on the register button, then click the X to close. The one-day ticket will now have a name associated with it. Make sure to register each person in your party. You can put up to 10 people into one app. You can also scan any premium passes that you purchased online into the Junglia app. If you’ve linked your one-day ticket to the app, you can display your QR code ticket within the app and use it to enter the ticket gate at the park. Click on the QR code itself to display it larger. Since I had multiple family members tickets on my phone, I scanned their QR codes one at a time, allowing them to each enter the park before me. Then I scanned my ticket last to enter the gate. My husband also installed the Junglia app on his phone and I was able to share our family’s tickets with him, so that way if we went to different attractions at the same time, we both had access to our tickets to show. Attraction number tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis once you’ve entered the park. One smartphone can be used to obtain tickets for one group of up to 10 people. Once you have scanned your one-day ticket at the gate and entered Junglia, you can use the Junglia app on your phone to try to obtain an attraction number ticket. They are very limited and they get snatched up quickly, so there’s no guarantee that you’ll be able to get one. On the tickets tab where it says attraction number ticket, push the button that says get. Scroll through the list of attractions and select the attraction that you want. Any attractions that are currently suspended won’t appear here. I selected Titan Swing for two guests and clicked on the get a numbered ticket button. A pop-up said number ticket obtained and the tickets appeared in the app. Attractions that require either an attraction number ticket or a premium pass include Horizon Balloon, Sky Phoenix, Titan Swing, Treetop Trekking, Sky End Trekking, Human Arrow, Gravity Drop, Bungee Glider, and Treasure Fight. If you don’t purchase a premium pass in advance and you’re unable to obtain a numbered ticket on the day of your visit, you will not be able to experience these thrilling adventures. When we visited as a whole family after Junglia officially opened, we were not able to obtain numbered tickets at all. We entered the park around 9 45 a.m and within the app on my phone all the numbered ticket attractions were saying currently suspended. I was disheartened but I figured I’d keep checking the app to see if they would switch to currently operating so that I could try to get numbered tickets. Instead they remained saying currently suspended. Around 10 10 a.m we tried clicking on one of the suspended rides and it said numbered ticketing closed so we never even got a chance to attempt to get the tickets. I’m not sure if it was that I was having an issue with the app not refreshing on my phone fast enough or if they had waited to release the numbered tickets exactly at 10 a.m which was opening time for that day and then they got taken up really quickly. It was disappointing that we weren’t able to do anything in the Jungle Extremes area. Many of the experiences at Junglia require you to submit an experience. Agreement or Participation Waiver in Advance. This includes Human Arrow, Sky Phoenix, Titan Swing, Sky End Trekking, Tree Top Trekking, Bungee Glider, Gravity Drop, Buggy Voltage, and Horizon Balloon. You can read the terms of the agreement for each of these on the Junglia website. If you plan to participate in any of these attractions, you can go ahead and submit the waiver in advance through the Junglia app. Go to the map and then Attractions. Scroll down to the particular attraction and click on it. Then click on Agree to Terms. Select the names of the participants. The app will pull the general information that you registered with your park ticket, such as your name, birth date, and address. Agree to each of the terms by tapping I Agree. The terms do vary based upon the attraction. For participants who are under 18 years old, parental consent is also required. The parent or legal guardian will need to provide their name and phone number before the minor agrees to the terms. You’ll be asked to show that you completed the agreement before you participate in the attraction. I recommend completing these waivers in the week leading up to your visit. I went ahead and filled them out for a family for any of the adventurous attractions we thought we might participate in. You can also use the Junglia app to view the park map and sort by attractions, shows, food and merchandise, or service guide to locate facilities such as restrooms. Make sure you have internet connection on your phone so you can use the Junglia app on the day of your visit. You can watch our separate videos on choosing a pocket Wi-Fi or eSIM for your Japan trip. I’ll also link to our top recommendations below. Some of the attractions have a standby option. For these attractions, if you don’t have a premium pass, you can get in the standby line. You do not need to obtain an attraction number ticket through the app. Attractions that can be accessed by either standby or premium pass include Dinosaur Safari, Finding Dinosaurs, Yambaru Friends, Buggy Voltage Fun Adventure Course for either single rider or pair, Buggy Voltage Adrenaline Challenge Course. Please note that for Buggy Voltage Fun Adventure Course for the two-seater buggy or for Adrenaline Challenge Course, which is also a two-seater buggy, the driver must have an international driving permit or a Japanese driver’s license. Only the Fun Adventure Course with a one-seater buggy vehicle can be experienced without an international driving permit or Japanese driver’s license. Even kids can drive the one-seater buggy if they’re at least 10 years old and they meet the height and weight requirements. For both Buggy Voltage and Dinosaur Safari, after getting in the standby line, we were issued a standby return pass with a specific time slot to return to the ride. For both Finding Dinosaurs and Yambaru Friends, we just had to wait in the standby line for as long as it took to get our turn. Anyone who had purchased a premium pass was able to cut in front of us. I’m not sure why they treat the standby attractions differently, however I much preferred the ones that offered a standby return pass with a specific time slot to come back to the ride. That was better than having our kids wait and wait in line for over an hour. Many of the adventurous attractions do not allow you to bring items onto the attraction with you. This includes within the Jungle Extreme area as well as Buggy Voltage. In these instances, once you’ve waited and got to the front of the line, there are free lockers where you can store your bag, parasol, sun hat, sunglasses, phone, camera, and contents of your pockets. Dinosaur Safari does allow you to bring a small bag with you onto the vehicle. If you have the opportunity to ride the Horizon Balloon and you want to bring your mobile phone with you, you must use a strap or a rental case to prevent it from falling. Please note that most of the adventurous attractions do not allow filming or taking photos while experiencing the attraction, so sorry we couldn’t share that viewpoint with you. Here are a couple of examples to give you an idea of how much you can do in a full day at Junglia Adventure Park. This is based upon being at the park from around 10 a.m. to almost 7 p.m. When my husband and I visited together, we rode Sky Phoenix with premium passes, then we got drenched at the Splash Fest show, ate a snack, rode Buggy Voltage with standby return passes, rode Dinosaur Safari with premium passes, grabbed some popcorn, ate lunch at Wild Banquet, then we did Finding Dinosaurs by getting in the standby line, and we rode the Tam Tam Tram to circle back to the entrance. We did a little bit of shopping at the gift shop before we headed out. I feel like that’s about the maximum that you could do in one day within the adventure park. If you also have a spa ticket, you could head to Spa Junglia afterwards as it stays open until 9 30 p.m. When we visited as a family with our three young kids, we didn’t have any premium passes. Once I realized the importance of premium passes, they were completely sold out for the date of our visit. Our 11 year old was hoping to ride Sky Phoenix with his dad, and our 7 year old was hoping to do a treetop trekking with me, but we weren’t successful at getting any attraction time tickets through the app, so we weren’t able to do either of those. Instead, we ended up doing things that our whole family, including our four-year-old, could do. We started with Finding Dinosaurs by waiting in the standby line, then we did the Splash Fest show, which was one of our kids’ favorites. We ate a snack while we waited in the long standby line for Yambaru and friends, then we ate lunch at Wild Banquet, we did some quick shopping at the gift shop, and we rode Dinosaur Safari with standby return passes. We grabbed some more snacks and rode the tram to circle back to the entrance. Our kids really enjoyed making music on the tram. That was a full day at the park and everyone was tired. If the Horizon Balloon had been running, that’s also something that you can do with young kids, but you would need to have either a premium pass or a numbered ticket. Please check the requirements for how to get a numbered ticket specifically for Horizon Balloon. Now for some mistakes to avoid, as making one of these mistakes could ruin your visit to Junglia. Mistake one, losing your attraction timed ticket. The first time that we visited Junglia, I managed to get attraction numbered tickets for Titan Swing. However, later in the day, I realized that they had disappeared from within the app. I think the mistake that I made was that I failed to complete the general information for our one-day tickets, where you register your name, birthday, and address. I had probably been given a certain amount of time that I needed to finish registering those tickets or else lose our numbered tickets. However, I wasn’t aware of that and we were frantically running around the park trying to get ready for our first attraction, so by the time I checked back again later, those attraction numbered tickets had just disappeared. This is why I recommend doing as much as you can to set up the app before your visit. Scan in your tickets, fill in your general information, sign any waivers, do anything you can in advance so there’s less stress on the day of your visit. Mistake two, wearing the wrong outfit or shoes. Plan your Junglia outfit wisely. Imagine doing the prep of buying your ticket, purchasing a premium pass, and then showing up to the attraction to be told that you’re wearing something that’s not allowed on the attraction. If you go ahead and fill out the waiver ahead of time, then you’ll be notified of which clothing items are prohibited. You need to be dressed in a way that you can be strapped into a harness, possibly walk or fly through the air with people looking up at you, or perhaps ride an ATV through the mud. Some of the attractions at Junglia prohibit wearing skirts, thick soled platform shoes, high heels, or sandals. Closed toe shoes that are well secured to your feet are the best option. George’s shoes were slip-on and didn’t have shoestrings, so they actually provided him with some bands to make sure that his shoes would stay on during Sky Phoenix. The best option to wear is long pants, something that’s comfortable in the heat like linen pants. I’m pretty sure the buggy voltage agreement said no shorts allowed, but I did see some people wearing shorts. I also recommend a t-shirt plus a lightweight long-sleeve option for sun protection. Which brings me to mistake three, not being prepared for the heat and sun. I read recently that the UV rays in Okinawa are about twice as strong as on mainland Japan. There is not much shade provided at Junglia even while waiting in the long lines. You’re expected to come prepared with a sun hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, parasol, and as I mentioned I highly recommend a long-sleeve sun protection layer. George’s arms got really badly burnt the first time we visited. Please keep in mind that for some of the extreme attractions you will need to leave your hat and parasol in a locker so there will be some time waiting out in the bright sun. Because of this I try to be really good about reapplying my face sunscreen. Mosquito repellent is also a good idea. Mistake four, not being prepared to get wet. In addition to being prepared for the strong sun, be prepared to get soaking wet. Okinawa is a subtropical region. The park is located in an area prone to sudden rain showers and rapid weather changes. When George and I visited, we got completely drenched from about 10 minutes of pouring rain that was coming at us at an angle. Our feet were soggy with water sloshing around in our shoes. That plus a lot of walking led us to get blisters on the bottom of our feet. When I think of what to wear for a pleasant day at Junglia, I picture the staff’s uniforms that include waterproof jungle boots and a rain poncho. They’re bringing with you an umbrella, light rain jacket, or a poncho. You might also want to pack a small towel, an extra shirt, and a dry pair of socks that you can change into. I was surprised that the attractions which Junglia recommends for rainy day fun include Buggy Voltage and Dinosaur Safari. If it’s raining, expect to get splashed with mud on those attractions. Rainwear is recommended. There is a kiosk near Buggy Voltage that sells plastic rain ponchos. The one indoor attraction for escaping the elements is Yambaru Friends. Please be aware that any of the attractions can be suspended due to poor weather conditions. In addition to preparing for rain, if you plan to attend the Splash Fest show, be prepared to get wet there as well. Luckily, our clothes dried pretty quickly after the show. You might want to bring a waterproof bag as your day bag to prevent any of your items in your bag from getting wet. Mistake 5. Drinking alcohol before an extreme attraction. The more adventurous attractions at Junglia prohibit drinking alcohol before participating. Keep this in mind as there is beer available to purchase at the restaurants and food courts within Junglia, as well as sparkling wine to enjoy at the balloon bar near the Horizon Balloon. Plan your day to drive a Buggy ATV or participate in an extreme activity before enjoying sparkling wine, beer, or a cocktail at the spa. Mistake 6. Showing up at opening time. You can find hours of operation for Junglia Theme Park on the calendar. So far, it’s been between 10am and 7.30pm. Arriving at the park at 10am would be a mistake as you would already have thousands of people in line in front of you, and we’re all vying for a very limited number of attraction time tickets. If you’re not familiar with visiting theme parks in Japan, people get in line early, and because of this, many of the theme parks open their gates before the listed opening time. When we visited, we got in line at 8.50am and we were pretty far back in the line, almost where the stairs are that head up to the bus stop. At 9.10am, they announced that they would allow the JTB early access holders in soon. The line started moving forward at 9.20am, and the gates opened at 9.30am. By 10.05am, all the attraction number tickets had been given out for the day. Unless you have everything you want to do secured through having premium passes with specific time slots, and you’re not even trying to get an attraction number ticket, it’s a good idea to show up to the park at least one hour before opening time. The food options within Junglia Theme Park include two restaurants, plus a variety of food carts scattered around the park. Wild Banquet is the more casual dining option, with counters to order from and outdoor seating. It’s currently open from 11am to 7.30pm. The menu is somewhat limited, with six main options, some snacks, a couple sweets, and drinks. There are a few other options on the menu, such as a chilled vegetable curry, which is vegan, and grilled seafood. I enjoyed our meal more the second time around. However, there isn’t much protection from either sun or rain, and it started to rain by the end of our meal. There are sometimes performances in the courtyard area at Wild Banquet, but the one that we were waiting for must have been cancelled due to the rain. Panorama Dining is the other restaurant within the Junglia Theme Park. There are various seating options, and the outdoor bird’s nest seats require an additional fee. Although the app says it’s open from 11am to 9pm, it actually closes between lunch and dinner. When we visited, lunch was between 11am and 4pm, with the last order at 3pm. Booking for lunch is on a first-come, first-served basis, and it’s not possible to make lunch reservations. Dinner, on the other hand, requires a reservation. Dinner is served in two sessions, starting at either 5pm or 7pm, with each session lasting for 90 minutes. There is a deposit of ¥5,000 for each dinner reservation. Reservations can be made through table check, and although we tried multiple times with various different credit cards, we were not successful at making a dinner reservation. Maybe because we were entering it in English? I don’t know, but each time it gave us an error. There are a variety of food carts located throughout the park, which are the best option for grabbing something quick to eat while waiting in the next line. There’s an appetizing selection offered by the food carts, including some healthy whole foods. We enjoyed all the snack cart goodies we tried, including guava ice cream in a macaroon, shikwasa slushies, jelly sky drinks, and a rib. Just one rib. That was our favorite. The food carts close at various times between 5 and 7pm, so don’t expect everything to be open all the way until closing time. Spa Junglia has its own restaurant called Tropical Oasis, serving tapas, pasta, and cocktails. Tropical Oasis is open from noon until 9.30pm, and is only accessible if you have a spa ticket. Reservations are not accepted. Within Junglia Theme Park, there are gift shops in Village Bazaar Market and Village Bazaar Resort, which are located near the entrance of the park. There’s a selection of food souvenirs, cute dinosaurs, headbands, and clothing and cooling items that could be useful during your visit. Our kids all wore their Junglia t-shirts that I had bought them on my previous visit. The selection from one store to another is a bit repetitive, so it didn’t take us a ton of time to shop. Facilities and services at Junglia Theme Park include coin lockers, stroller and wheelchair rentals, sun umbrellas to borrow, baby care centers, restrooms, mobile battery rental service, beverage vending machines, smoking areas, and cool rooms with air conditioning to prevent heat stroke. Keep in mind that the lines for waiting for attractions are outdoors and are not well protected from either sun or rain. There are water refill stations and trash cans. You can find park benches around the perimeter, as well as at Wild Banquet. There’s also a first aid station. Signage at the park isn’t the best, so to find the locations you can use the app. On the map, select service guide. To get from Junglia Theme Park to Spa Junglia, find the Spa Junglia shuttle bus that’s located near the ticket counters. When you leave the theme park to visit the spa, be sure to let the staff know if you plan to re-enter the theme park later. Where to stay when visiting Junglia. I prefer staying in the Motobu area the night before visiting Junglia so that I can reach the park in about half an hour. You will likely fly into Naha airport when arriving in Okinawa, but it’s still about an hour and a half drive north from Naha to reach Junglia. I personally wouldn’t want to travel that far on the morning of my visit. My top choice of hotel to stay is the Orion Hotel Motobu Resort and Spa. We had a lovely family vacation there. Thank you to the Orion for hosting us for a couple of the nights during our stay. You can find all of our Okinawa hotel recommendations in our Expedia Travel Shop, which I’ll link to below. The main ways to reach Junglia are by bus, taxi, or private car. If you stay at an official partner hotel, you can catch the Junglia Express bus directly from your hotel. It does require an advance reservation and payment to ride the bus. The Junglia Express bus also has pickup points such as Naha Airport and Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium. If you’re staying in the Motobu area, you could also take a taxi to Junglia for about 4,000 yen. If you will drive a rental car and you want to park at Junglia, please make a parking reservation in advance, which costs 2,000 yen. This parking reservation can be paid for online through Klook. The parking lot is located right out front of the entrance. If you’re only visiting Spa Junglia, there is a separate parking lot, which does not require a reservation, but it does require payment. If you don’t want to pay to park right at Junglia, there is affiliated free parking at Eon in Nago, and from there you can take a free shuttle bus the rest of the way to Junglia. This affiliated parking is open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. and does not require a reservation. I hope you’re now ready to plan an exhilarating day at Junglia Adventure Theme Park. Thanks for the hacks!
So, do you need to purchase one premium pass per attraction or is it one pass and you get all attractions?
Is there a ferry to Okinawa?
