Hello everyone. I’ve recently become obsessed with the ‘JDM’ car scene. It all started with the NA Mazda miata, but as I aged (a few weeks) I realised it was too widespread for my liking. I was wondering if people had any ideas on unique Jdm cars that arent extremely expensive and arent limited to too few to the point where I can’t find them for sale. A few cars I have liked inlude; MR2 mk1 sc, Mitsubishi STARION, the piazza, the na miata. Thanks in advance. For anyone wondering, yes I’m a while off being able to buy one, but hey what’s wrong with hoping? My aim is to buy a cheap but usable car for my first car, and then move on to one for my second car, or third need be. Also, if you wonder why I’m obsessed with unique cars, my dad had owned a Caterham and now owns a tvr Tuscan 6 speed

The days of JDM cars being under 10k are long gone.
Might not be your thing as it’s more of a late 90s than 80s JDM like some of the cars you mentioned, but I really like & don’t see many Toyota Starlet Glanza V around. I’ve seen a few listed in the UK between 6-9k. Might be worth a look.

Here’s mine. They can be found for cheap, the trick is finding one that isn’t rusted out and doesn’t break up under boost.
Hey everyone, just wanted to say that although I listed mainly 80’s cars I am also a fan of those from the 90’s, like the 300zx with its unique style of headlights
Depending on your location, SR5 AE86 Coupe or GTS Coupe if you’re lucky.
Mr2
Mazda Lantis Type R will definitely be under your budget.

These are actual cars in Japan that once purchased get shipped to the states. Look at this site, I’ve had several friends buy here.
I’m US based, not UK but I had a mk3 (a70) Supra for a while and was the only one around at every car met i went to. They’re pretty cheap and the 7mgte is pretty stout. R154 transmission is also tough and parts can still be had.
Gen 4, 5 or 6 Celica’s might take your fancy. Gen 4 and 5 have pop-ups while the gen 6 has a more modern “spider eye” look. The gen 4 is also more square and boxey, a bit like what you seem to be aiming for! If you could somehow find a GT-Four within budget, you’ll get the fun of AWD too.
The main thing to look out for is corrosion, but that applies to any car you look at!
Check out the ford probe. Its basically a Mazda 626
Wait I’m confused, why not a NA miata? That’s one of the best bang for the buck cars out there in your price range. Especially if you’re really into them
