The ship is being built at Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Shimonoseki Shipyard, stretching 199 meters in length and weighing approximately 14,300 gross tons. It can carry about 150 trucks and 30 passenger cars. The passenger capacity is 286.

The ship’s design, inspired by Kyoto and history, is refined and elegant with a warm atmosphere, featuring a three-story atrium entrance, a see-through elevator, and the first introduction of a screen room ‘Ryugu’ utilizing projection mapping. The bow of the ship features a two-story forward salon, and the top deck includes an open-air bath and multipurpose room.

The grill restaurant ‘Oeyama’ offers course meals, while the two-story forward salon ‘Hakuryu’ and the tablet order restaurant ‘Shuten’ incorporate names and designs linked to Kyoto and Tango throughout.

‘Ferry Wi-Fi’ utilizing Starlink is provided in all rooms, with high-speed satellite communication capability of up to 220 Mbps. The service is free for users of special plans with au and au Starlink Direct and costs 1,500 yen for 24 hours for others. The service is provided by KDDI and Wire and Wireless.

Cabins include a suite room with an ocean view bath, deluxe rooms with private terraces, state-class Western rooms with showers and toilets, state-class Japanese-Western rooms ideal for family trips, and ‘With Pet’ rooms that accommodate pets.

Featuring cutting-edge energy-saving hull forms, including the country’s first adoption of a ducktail in a ferry, and an energy-saving anti-rolling system combining anti-rolling tanks and fin stabilizers, the new ship achieves energy savings compared to traditional ships.
