Rakuten Fashion Week TOKYO 2026 Spring/Summer, one of Japan’s largest fashion events, will be held from Monday, September 1 to Saturday, September 6, 2025. For six days, 25 brands from Japan and abroad will present their latest collections through physical runway shows, once again infusing the city of Tokyo with the energy of fashion.
This season also marks a significant milestone: the 20th anniversary of Tokyo Fashion Week’s official inception. The annual theme for 2025, “Be the Seam of the World – JFW 20 + 20”, conveys a powerful message—positioning Tokyo as a “seam” that connects global and local perspectives, the past and the future, and diverse values across the fashion landscape.
Launched in 2005 as the “Fashion Strategy Conference,” the Japan Fashion Week Organization (JFWO) has continued to evolve while navigating major social shifts such as natural disasters, a global pandemic, and the rise of social media. Since the inaugural “2006 Spring/Summer” season held in October 2005, a total of 524 brands have participated, with 1,844 presentations, runway shows, and digital showcases held to date. Now, as Tokyo reflects on two decades of progress, it prepares to take its first step into the next 20 years of fashion innovation and cultural expression.
Opening this commemorative season is mukcyen, the winner of the JFW NEXT BRAND AWARD 2026. Designed by Yuka Kimura, the emerging label will stage its first-ever runway show at 1:00 PM on September 1 at Shibuya Hikarie. That same day, nagonstans, led by Mizuki Ueda, will also make its debut on the Tokyo runway.
On September 2, the schedule will feature established names such as HARUNOBUMURATA, known for its architectural elegance, and yoshiokubo, renowned for its conceptual presentations. On September 3, under Rakuten’s next-generation support initiative “by R,” FETICO by Eimi Funayama will take the spotlight. The show is set to deepen its exploration of feminine expression through a special collaboration with Japanese beauty brand THREE.
On September 4, TSUMORI CHISATO will celebrate its 35th anniversary with a commemorative runway show designed by founder Chisato Tsumori. Alongside the show, an exhibition of archival pieces from the past 35 years will be held on the 8th floor of Shibuya Hikarie.
The momentum continues with Chika Kisada and VIVIANO on September 5, leading up to a grand finale on September 6 with ORIMI, a brand noted for its poetic and thought-provoking aesthetics.
In parallel with the fashion week, TRANOÏ TOKYO will return for its third edition at the Yoyogi National Gymnasium on September 3 and 4, featuring approximately 250 brands from 30 countries around the world.
Special projects celebrating the 20th anniversary include the launch of the podcast “RE;MODE_ROOM 20” in collaboration with cultural media platform Artistspoken, as well as a tribute show titled Haute Mode Hirata, honoring the 100th anniversary of legendary hat designer Akio Hirata.
