Name a daimyo with more aura… 🇯🇵 #sendai #matsushima #japanesehistory #japantravel #japanvlog

Once upon a time, there was this warlord called Dante Masamune, the oneeyed dragon, because well, he had one eye. Sick. He was the daimo of Sai during the Sangoku period. Basically, if you’ve seen Shogun, you’d know what I’m on about. Anyway, in 1604, he had plans to rebuild Zuigi Temple, the one we’re walking through now, into a Zen temple to stake his claim as Daimo of Sai through cultural authority. The original site goes way back to 828 AD. It started as a different kind of Buddhist temple and these handcarved caves once held statues, scrolls, and other sacred treasures. Masamune lost his eye to small fox, but he gained a reputation for turning scars into symbols. And though he only had one eye, he definitely saw the big picture. $7 to get in. We were I mean about whether that’s a good investment. I would almost say this might be the reason you come to Masushima.
