JR Osaka Station （JR大阪駅） is located in the northern part of central (or downtown) Osaka City in the Umeda district.
JR Osaka Station, along with Hankyu Umeda Station are the two stations that are considered the “gateway” to Osaka city. Tourists can come to either of these stations and then visit various spots in the downtown area using the subway lines.
This station is not to be mistaken with JR Shin-Osaka Station, which is located further north and primarily services the Shinkansen (Japanese Bullet Trains). JR Osaka Station does not have Shinkansen service.
