1 FAMOUS FISH MARKET and 2 BEST KEPT SECRET NOODLE HOUSES

Hey everybody, welcome to Okinawa, Japan’s tropical paradise. There’s so much to explore here. It’s filled with wonder, beauty, rich culture, and ancient mysteries. I’m thrilled to share my three favorite places to eat. The soul food of Okinawa. [Music] Let’s explore together. Our first stop, Makishi Public Market in Naha. This place is the heart of Okinawa food culture. It’s a bustling maze of stalls filled with live seafood and the freshest daily catch. You can walk through and it’s like sensory overload. vendors calling out the smell of grilled fish in the air. What’s unique about this place is that you can pick your fresh catch downstairs. Then they prepare it upstairs however you want. [Music] [Applause] [Music] Look how fresh the lobster is. It’s still kicking. We got lobster sashimi, shrimps, and sea snails with a little bit of wasabi and soy sauce. It’s delicious. Next stop, Kadoya in Seookoko Island. It took us 45minute drive from Naha to reach this island. While exploring, we noticed the cat signs with Kadoya that guided us directly to the restaurant. [Music] [Music] As soon as we arrived, a black cat welcomed us in. [Music] The decor is simple, homey, and cultural. [Music] We wanted to try the local favorites. [Music] You can’t go wrong here. Everything tasted flavorful and delicious. [Music] [Music] Last stop, Marinte in Yagachi Island. It’s not too far from Seoko Island. We found this place purely by accident. Wasn’t even sure if it was a restaurant or resident. [Music] A lovely old lady welcomed us in. [Music] [Applause] [Music] Come to find out, she is the original owner. [Music] [Applause] This poster beautifully tells a nostalgic story of her daily life. [Music] Her menu is simple. Three noodle dishes with local ingredients. [Music] It doesn’t get any more authentic than this. Okinawa noodles. So savory and delicious. A comfort food for the locals. There you have it. Three places to check out when you’re in Okinawa. Thanks for watching. [Applause] [Music]
