Motogo Hikawa Shrine The founding of Motogo Hikawa Shrine is unknown, but it was moved from the Arakawa River bank to its current location in 1622. The two enshrined deities are Susanoo-no-Mikoto and Ichikishimahime-no-Mikoto. Although it is a small shrine, it is loved by local people as a shrine of happiness. The Kodakara Inu is a symbol of easy childbirth and fertility. The goshuin is handwritten and stamped with a seasonal flower that changes every month. The character for “happiness” is written among the seasonal flowers.
