Come along with us on an unforgettable journey to Japan. My wife and I traveled back to her family’s hometown in Mikkabicho Fukunaga, Hamana Ward, Hamamatsu. We started our adventure with a peaceful visit to Izoko Shrine near the family house — a quiet hidden spot surrounded by nature and tradition.
From there, we hiked up into the mountains above the mist to reach the Mikkabi Takayama Fureai Observatory. The view was worth every step — misty peaks, fresh air, and that calm feeling you only get in rural Japan.
We spent the rest of our trip exploring Hamamatsu, eating devious food, and soaking up every moment together. From local specialties to cozy places only the locals know, every bite was its own adventure.
Join us for the scenery, the shrines, the hidden trails, and all the incredible food — and see why this corner of Japan means so much to us.
