Okinawa Vlog | exploring neighborhood, local eats, pottery street, Don Quijote ๐ฅข๐ฃ๐ฎ
Heat. Heat. Day three. We are going for a ramen near our hotel. Just a 3minut walk. Should be, I think, uh, next block. So, we got to the ramen place and there’s a bit of a line. So, we are next outfit of the day. Looks like a dress, but it’s actually a swimsuit. Ta. There’s actually not too many sittings, but it’s a cute bar. See the kitchen? This is where you order. Um, you have to put in a,000 yen bills to order. can help English, Korean, and Chinese women. Just got a ramen. Got these very cool bowls. They made it themselves. Okinawa has a lot of pottery. Okay, this is mine. I got the miso ramen and Brandon got the black ramen. Oh my god, it looks so good. very rich handmade bowls that have this cuz apparently if you get rice you’re supposed to like um pour the broth to the rice using this part here. Pretty smart. I’m so full right now. Like literally the ramen was so good but I think it was so filling. Um I’m honestly ready to pass out. But Brandon wants his salt ice cream. Definitely glooier today. Finally getting his soft ice cream. I think these are different salts. What is that one? Hibiscus. Hibiscus. You need to try this matcha salt. It It must be really popular. They’re almost done with this. Put a lot of matcha salt. Is it good? Oh, yeah. Nice. Not too too much. Oh. Good. So, there’s two types of salts. You can actually buy them here. They have the taco rice salt, citrus depressive salt, hibiscus, matcha, and this is the granulated type salt. It’s the most expensive one. Yeah. The granulated type is more larger particles, and then this one is more fine. Mhm. So, I noticed when we were like putting on our ice cream, it like goes everywhere. Yeah. But this one is more like table salt. We just entered the fashion street, we were walking on Koko Dori and then we turned right and I feel like there are a lot of uh edit shops like penip shops here. It kind of reminds me of like a smaller scale. Yeah, smaller obviously. Yeah. See, I saw this place. Remember when we were walking to the monale? There was the apple pie store and I was like, “Wow, like that was good.” Very interesting vibes in this neighborhood. You know what? This kind of feels like there are a lot of old buildings and they’ve converted these like buildings into stores. They have, you know, like bars and restaurants and cafes. They also have actual shops. I don’t want to walk down this neighborhoods just have a lot of a lot of character. It’s like a vibe. very very very lots of different foods probably fermented food and there’s you know restaurants here and there um that have probably been there for a while crazy it actually smells like Korean markets very busy Reminds us of a lot of Korean style markets like this. You know, a lot of people actually borrow like rent cars so they can hit all the touristy spots, but this one’s more like a tuby trip. But I like it. It’s very interesting. This is how I always travel. Juggy, go with the flow. Honey, next time we’ll come and rent the car. We just have to get better at driving. I don’t know. You okay? I think we’re going into Pottery Street now. Let’s follow building here. There’s a pottery center. I think this is a map of all the different pottery studios or stores. Very cool. We are at the pottery street. Stopped at a little local plaza and they do uh resin art. We thought it was pottery at first, but actually do like resin artwork. Wow. So, when you’re in Japan, obviously you have to go to Donote. Are we going to get overwhelmed? Yes, we absolutely are. Oh my goodness. Look at how many floors there are. Are you ready for this? Whoa. Okay, where do we even start? Should we check the first floor first? We’re grabbing some snacks. It’s crazy how many different Kit Kats. They have like apple matcha. They have uh what is this? Cheesecake. And I think this is even sake flavored. We already bought some snacks. Just a couple. Cute place. They also have the photos menu for reference, but they also have set menus like this. So cute. Yum. One pushi. One of my favoriting. Okay. Put it in. Okay, scallops. Save me for the last thing. Feel the like in my head. Oh, yeah. Touch. literally had the best time dining here. It was so cheap. We’re so full, but it was only like $28, which was so crazy. So, in the Makishi Market, I think it’s Makishi. this place, Benke Sushi. It’s very hard to see because there’s so many little shops, but it was delicious. And got a bunch of sushi, udong, miso soup, grilled scallops. It’s delicious. Cash only though, so bring cash. So bring cash for sure. All of the stuff from Don. Amazing. Back to the main street. Oh, it’s busy. also stop donkey donkey. Let’s go. Very popular pastry here. Looks like a taro. Is it taro? Taro. I think it is taro or ube. Same thing. Maybe. I was thinking if we don’t want to buy the big one, we can get this. Okay. Let’s test if this uh ube pie kind of thing is good cuz I see that everyone is getting boxes of these. So, the verdict is try it, but probably not worth Yeah, probably not worth buying a whole box. We actually came back to the restaurant that we tried to go yesterday, but we couldn’t go because it was full. So, we uh shifted down the bar because they allow for smoking. But check this out. Our first yaki tori on this trip. This is pork with asparagus and chicken pie. This is Park about the Oregon life. And for round two, first one coming up is the Au pork belly. Next course we got chicken meatball. Very popular type of skewer with the egg yolk. Like break the yolk basically like make a spot a sauce. Yeah. And then this is very interesting. It’s natto wrapped in fried tofu. So I know it doesn’t maybe look super appetizing, but I love natto. So we’ll get a get a clip of me eating it. See the natto inside. Natto is like a fermented soybean. Very popular in Korea and Japan. As many of you know, I am health maxing. It break it. Break it. Break it. Break it. Break it. Break it. Dip it. Dip it. Dip it. It’s so juicy. They have so many different types of keyrings and they look so real. Like this is the yam. This is the gourd tempura. This is probably pork. The gourd and spam. It’s kind of like chbar that we had on the first night. And this is like the salad. Look at that. Okay, we’re here for lunch before we head over to the airport. This place seems like a pretty popular spot for locals, but Furin Kazan has a lot of like homecooked style meal. And I love that they have chas, which is broth rice soup. So you put you pour the broth over rice. Um, and the price is really good. They have some alak cart stuff that you can order. miso soup and rice, tuna bowl. I think in general like the prices are really good. And they have a bunch of grilled fish with miso soup and rice options. We got the uh fish of the day, which is red seam. Jay got the Which one did you get? The spicy. This is actually spicy pork. Then this is a broth. So, you uh you eat like half the rice and then you put the broth in to mix it up. It’s very delicious. We’re still a little bit hungry and it’s our last meal in Okinawa. So, we ordered some of the piso a pork. They’re really famous for their au pork here. Mhm. Like almost every restaurant had a a pork. It’s interesting. Which one? Banana. Strawberry. We just made it through security this first.
