First time in OKINAWA! JAPAN’S Tropical Paradise!🇯🇵
Aloha from Okinawa. This is totally different than mainland Japan. I really feel like I’m in Hawaii. And you guys are wondering why we’re always in Japan. This is why this street just comes alive. It feels more like Hawaii than it does Japan. Who made this? Who made this? It’s delicious. [Music] All right, guys. Welcome to a new video. So, we’re back in Japan, but we’re not in mainland Japan. We’re in the beautiful tropical island of Okinawa. And apparently, this is the Hawaii of Japan. So, we’re excited to be here. Let’s go explore. Let’s go. [Music] All right, guys. A beautiful day here in Okinawa. We’re going to get some coffee first cuz we need some caffeine. Maybe some iced coffee cuz it’s so hot. [Music] Ooh. [Music] So cute. [Music] All right. So, we’re here in Naha, which is the capital city of Okinawa, Japan. And we’re currently here at the famous Kokosai Dori Street. So, this area is the entertainment district of Naha. And this place reminds me so much of Waiki. Yeah, it’s like a little wa kiki almost. It feels more like Hawaii than it does Japan. This is totally different than mainland Japan. Yeah, especially for the summer. We wanted somewhere more tropical, but also like we had the urge to come back to Japan. So, we were like, let’s go somewhere different. We’re so glad that we did because this place just reminds us so much of the two places that we love so much, Hawaii and Japan. Yeah. [Music] We’re currently here in July, which is summer in Okinawa, and scorching. Yes, as you can see. I have an umbrella and a It’s currently 35° C right now, and it is hot. Yeah, we’ve actually been here for about a week now. We just wanted to take it slow our first few days, and it’s been so hot. We bought an umbrella mainly for the rain, but we’ve been bringing it on the sunny days because it’s just so hot. Like the sun, it hits different here. But that’s what we wanted. Yeah. No complaint. Yeah. Cuz a lot of Asian countries are rainy season right now. [Music] Right now, we’re actually going to go get some ice cream. And there’s a popular spot here called Blue Seal. I know. We need to cool off. Yeah, we need to cool off. And apparently Blue Seal is pretty good. So, let’s go give it a go. I’ve seen it everywhere. Every block, I think. Yeah. So, let’s go get some ice cream. All right. Let’s see what the hype’s all about. [Music] Yes. What the heck? This is like the prettiest ice cream cone I’ve ever seen. I got the chocolate fudge and Jan went a little bit crazy. He got the benny emo and then the vanilla with the red bean paste. And apparently here in Okinawa, um, benny emo, which is sweet potato, is really, really popular here. There’s so many stores that we passed by that had a lot of sweet potato treats. So, we definitely have to try that. This actually looks crazy. Yeah, you should probably eat it now before it melts. Red bean, my favorite. Oh my god. Who made this? Who made this? It’s delicious. Holy crap. The combination is insane. The flavor of the red bean with the vanilla. It just goes so well together. What do you think of Blue Seal? I have a feeling that we’re going to have Blue Seal every day that we’re here. It’s so good. Especially with the weather. It’s so hot. It’s so good. Oh, look. There’s like go-karts, too. Are we in Tokyo? Look at that. It’s so hot. [Music] All right. Ann found some orchids. Look at this. That’s so gorgeous. Like so perfect. Look at that one over there. Yeah, that one’s huge. [Music] I really feel like I’m in Hawaii. You’ll find these everywhere. And they even have lays. I’ve seen like the flower necklaces that they have in Hawaii. Apparently, this is the Hawaii of Japan. And I can definitely see why now. Aren’t you scared of the dark? This nightlight. It says made in the Philippines. Look how cute. It’s a seashell nightlight. That’s cute. Look how cute. Oh, it’d be so cute in the bathroom or something. Oh, damn. That’s cool. Gentle monster. What’s this? We should We should check it out. I’ve never heard. You know damn well what that is. Donkey hot day. [Music] Look at this. That’s nice. Look at that. Oh, damn. That’s sick. Aloha from Okinawa. So, Orion, this is made in Okinawa. Made by Okinawans. They’re so proud. There’s so many people here like wearing the shirts and like representing. So, yeah. Really cool. Also, what are these? Yeah. What are these? Someone tell us what this represents cuz we see this everywhere other than it’s cute. Okay. Kind of like this. I’ll get that for you. You get me this. They love spam here. Okay. This is the Benny emo treats that we were talking about. This is a staple here in Okinawa. It’s like a tart. Yeah. It’s like this. Yeah. [Music] So, it’s currently lunchtime and since Okinawa is very well known for their soba noodles, we’re heading to Aun right now, which is a very popular soba noodle restaurant in this area. We just found out it’s cash only. We’re heading to uh ATM right now. So, if you want to eat here, bring cash. All right. All right, we back. We got cash now. We can afford to eat. [Music] Thank you. All right, so we got some copyright music in the back, but this is what I got. I got the all meat soba, which has beef, pork belly, and pork ribs. Oh my god. What’d you get? I just got the beef. Justin needs to stop. Guess we’re not getting paid for this vlog. That’s delicious. That is some good broth. Yeah, that’s good. This is hands down one of the best bowl of noodles I’ve ever had. Better than pan. [Music] Thank you. All right, guys. So, we just finished lunch. It was delicious. Highly recommend it. We’re actually heading to the beach right now. But before we head [Music] So, we’ve now made it to our next location, which is Umiikaji Terrace, also known as the Santorini of Okinawa. And the reason why they call it the Santorini of Okinawa is because of the beautiful whitewashed Santorini style architecture. So, this place is also a shopping and dining complex, which is located beside the beach and the airport. So, let’s go check it out. [Music] So, if you guys are wondering how we get around here, we’ve been taking the Uber or/taxi, but the most common way is the train or a bus. But our first mistake was actually not renting a car because that is the best way to see the island is renting a car. Apparently, it’s quite easy to drive here. So, a lot of people actually rent the car and they do a whole road trip around Okinawa. My international driving permit actually expired, unfortunately. So, we couldn’t rent a car. Now, we’ve just been taking the Uber, which is not ideal. It’s actually quite expensive. If you’re on a budget, definitely recommend the bus or the train. [Music] [Music] All right. So, it’s so nice here. Each level has a bunch of cafes and local boutiques. So, we’re definitely gonna grab a drink and enjoy the sunset here. [Music] I love how each restaurant and cafe has its own terrace, so you can like eat and have the view of the ocean and the sunset that’s coming. [Music] these shirts. Sh. All right, just having a quick water break. So, in this vlog, we’re actually just going to stay in the area of Naha, but stay tuned for the next one cuz we’re going to go beach shopping and enjoy the crystal clear water of Okinawa. I’m so excited because apparently the waters here are insane. Like crystal clear turquoise water. Mhm. Yeah. We’re just staying in the city for now, but in the next one, it’s going to be fun. Man, we just ate, but we haven’t had dessert yet. Look at this. I mean, we are in Hawaii. So, yeah, we got to get shaved ice. Got to get some shave ice. Never mind. Never mind. Check this out. Right across from it. Some fluffy pancakes. Which one do we get? Maybe both. Okay, there’s just so much dessert here. Like, we want to try everything. But this one is talking to me. It’s a green tea, ice cream, and citrus. Like our favorite things. It says summer limited special. Okay. Sold. And today’s summer, and I’m special. Let’s go. [Music] All right. So, we got the green tea ice cream pancake. This right here has been a game changer. Get this one. The good one. Yeah. This is a Jes light. This thing is like a tornado. Don’t get the cheap one like everyone else here. I’m just kidding. It’s so funny cuz I saw this one guy literally holding a fake fan. It was like an electric fan. Yeah, he brought it from his house. Check it out. [Music] Dude, it’s so soft. Got some green tea ice cream, too, on top. It’s like so soft, so moist. It’s not dry. It’s so good. The sun’s about to set. We’re going to go to the beach and enjoy the sunset. All right, so we just finished our pancakes and now we want something else. Right next door. I want a strawberry iced lemonade soda. That looks so good. [Music] Dessert. It’s freaking amazing. [Music] Oh my god, look. So, I know earlier I said that we would sit at one of the terraces and watch the sunset, but since we are near a beach, we’re going to take our drink and we’re going to walk to the beach and watch the sunset there. Look at this. [Music] Wow. Look at the vibe right now. Look at the vibe. So many people here now. Aloha from Okinawa. All right. I’ve officially fallen in love with Okinawa. This could be our new Hawaii. It’s closer to us. I know a lot of people go to Tokyo and Osaka like us. Yeah. Yeah. And never really explored other parts of Japan, but I’m so glad we chose to go to Okinawa this time around. Yeah. I think Okinawa is like the perfect summer destination. Yeah. It’s crazy, too, cuz obviously you get the city and then tomorrow we’re going to go to the beach. So, you kind of get a little bit of everything. You know, you get the beach, you get the city, you get the shopping, Doniote. That’s important. Yeah, that’s important. And you get the amazing food of Japan. You got the ramen, you got the soba, you got the sushi. Yeah, basically Tokyo but by the beach. Facts. And way more chill and calm. Yeah. The only downside for me so far is the transportation isn’t the best. Like the public public transportation cuz we’re so used to Tokyo and Osaka, like the train being so good. Mhm. Right. Here, like the train doesn’t really go to a lot of places. It just kind of just goes around Naha. That’s it. Yeah. Yeah, that’s why I just go to Tokyo. [Music] It’s easier to get back up. Beautiful day. [Music] [Music] for Jan. Thank you. [Music] All right, guys. So, we’re currently back here at Koko Sai Dori Street cuz at night, this street just comes alive. Yes. And we haven’t been to Donkeyote yet. Yes. Most importantly, but what I love about this area the most is obviously all the neon lights. We are in Japan. Yes. Yeah. Let’s go check it out. It looks pretty lit right now. [Music] [Music] All right, we’re supposed to eat here at Guyokatsu Matumura, but look at the line. It’s crazy. So, what it is, it’s a beak cutlet meal, and it’s really, really good. We had this in Tokyo, and it’s amazing. Closes in an hour, and the line is pretty long. I don’t know how long it’s going to take. So, I don’t know. We might just get some sushi. Sushi it is. Yeah, we might just get some sushi. Not complaining. Let’s go. So, the vibe during the day is great, but at night it’s even better. So many people now cuz it’s not hot. [Music] So, like I said earlier, benny emo, which is sweet potato, is really, really popular here in Okinawa. So, we’re going to try one and see if we like it. If we like it, we’ll probably get this cuz it’s a staple here. They sell one right here, like a single one for 150 yen. [Music] All right, dinner time. [Music] And you guys are wondering why we’re always in Japan. This is why. This is exactly why. Cheers, guys. Cheers. Cheers. All right, we are so full. But time for dessert. All we did today was eat. I know. We ate a lot today. Smells sweet. I do like sweet potato cuz that’s what it looks like. You guys bite it first. It’s so soft and smooth. [Applause] and dry. Yo, someone get me water. Like, flavor-wise, it’s really good. But texture-wise, it’s so dry. Yeah, it’s giant. I I don’t think I would get it again, though, for me. But I think it would make a good souvenir. I’d get it again if I want to chill on it. [Music] All right, it’s Donkeyote time. If you guys don’t know what Donkeyote is, it’s a department store with a bunch of random things. The guy already bought a luggage. Oh, this is my favorite KitKat, the matcha. [Music] [Applause] This is our wedding song for real. This is the song that’s going to be played when we come out as a married couple. Wait, what’s this? Wasabi flavored KitKat. It’s disgusting. Let’s get it. Wasabi flavor. That’s wild. So, if you guys are looking for the tart that we had, you can also find it here at Donkeyote. Yeah. Donkeyote is honestly the best place to buy souvenirs. Yes. Oh, hell no. Right. Here’s our favorite floor. Our favorite floor. They got smiskies again. We’ll open it up in the hotel. No, that’s exercising. So, we’re getting exercise. Let’s get the exercise one. This is the one. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. 1 hour later. All right. We just got home. But before we end the vlog, you know what time it is. It’s tradition. Which one is this one? The exercising series. Yeah. I want to get the one with him lifting the dumbbell. Let’s open it. Blow on it, guys, for good luck. Let’s show them that first. Which one is it? Which one is it? Which one is it? Tell me. God damn it. Put it in the comments. Put in the comments. We’ll wait. It’s like giving birth. This what the doctor sees. It’s a penis. It’s a penis. You really did give birth. He’s doing the push-ups. Look. That’s so cute. It’s like this. Look. Oh, no. No. Push-ups. Sit-ups. He’s doing the sit-ups. Look at that. Look. He’s doing the sit-ups. Look. That’s a good one. That’s a good one. Now add it to my collection. Look at my collection, guys. Just for this trip and we’ve only been here for a couple of days. I’m going to show you. I can show you. This is my side of the room. And this is this is Jan’s side of the room. Why do you have a whole bottle of soy sauce? Uh, it’s for my uh to-go sushi. He’s like, “Sir, do you want some packets of soy sauce?” I’m like, “Hell no. Give me a bottle.” I’m here for 3 weeks. All right, guys. It’s been a fun day. A hot day. Holy crap. But this is where we end the vlog. It’s now 11:00 p.m. Stay tuned for the next one cuz we still have a few vlogs coming your way. Those vlogs are going to be fun. Thank you all so much for watching. My grandmother is Okinawan, and I lived there for several years as well! This will forever be my home, and I'm glad you all enjoyed your stay. The statues you thought were cute are called Shisa. Think of them like guard dogs or gargoyle. They always come in a pair; the one with the mouth closed is to welcome/keep good spirits in. The one with the mouth open is to scary evil spirits away. It's why you will typically see them outside of homes in Japan, or near the entry way.
We can't wait to travel to Okinawa, it's definitely on the short list! Excellent video!
Very nice! Okinawa sounds like a very liveable place.
i would go here instantly over dirty Hawaii
