Nippon-Ham ‘s ace pitcher, Hiromi Ito, will lead the team as they aim to win the league championship.
In his second start of the second half of the season Orix on the 3rd, he had runner on base in every inning but pitched tenaciously, throwing 114 pitches over 6 innings, hit 7 hits, strike out 4, BB 1, and no runs, earning his 11th win, the most in both leagues.
Hiroki Nomura, who appeared on Nippon Broadcasting System’s Show Up Nighter Special broadcast on July 25th, praised Nippon-Ham ‘s Hiromi Ito, saying, “10 wins in just the first half of the season is amazing. And what’s amazing about him is the number complete game he’s pitched. In an era where complete game are no longer possible, he’s won 10 games and pitched four complete game.”
“Even if they don’t throw, bullpen they may still make it, so considering the number of games as well as the amount of work they bullpen do, they will complete game do it, and if there is a point difference, they can make days when they don’t have to make it. That changes the physical workload, so it creates a virtuous cycle for the pitcher team as a whole,” he said of the effect of this.
So far, Ito has pitched 130 2/3 innings in 18 games, recording 11 wins and 5 losses ERA 2.76, complete game, and one shutout game.
