JAPAN VLOG | our favourite ramen in sapporo, otaru seafood market, ice cream bingo, and lots of food

Today we are exploring foods around Sapporo! Starting off with ramen! We got here at around 11, and there is already such a long line Did you know that miso ramen originated in Sapporo? Adding butter and corn is a Hokkaido specialty This would’ve easily been $50+ back home :’) We finally made it inside after an hour wait! This looks so good This has medium-thick noodles, scrambled eggs, wild garlic, and a slice of fatty charsiu The broth is rich with a deep miso flavour Time to mix in the butter 🙂 This made it even richer! It’s so good but so bad lol The noodles were perfectly cooked. They’re bouncy with a nice chew This is probably the best ramen we’ve ever had. 100% recommend Time to walk off the ramen Let’s check out an art museum! The collection features ukiyo-e paintings, a popular Japanese art form from the 17th to 19th century The second floor features an interactive exhibit for kids 🙂 Time for an ice cream break! This dessert spot is known for its parfaits, but they’re sold out already 🙁 Our first coffee of the day! Coffee in Japan is a lot less sweet compared to Korea Still wish it was a parfait but this will do It has a refreshing pineapple flavour and the texture of the ice is really soft The pineapple is so sweet! Once you get into the center, there’s panacotta with apple jelly. This was a nice surprise 🙂 Now let’s check out a temple nearby! It started raining once we got to the temple Most shrines will have fortunes for you to draw And we’re back to Bisse Sweets 🙂 Jason’s next milk test lol It has the strong cow flavour he likes 🙂 Got myself a lil dessert Mild and creamy – just how I like it 🙂 A solid snack too! We love milk-flavoured stuff Found a fried chicken place in the department store of Stellar Place They sell karage, chicken wings and half chickens A fresh batch came out right after I got my order :'( And to finish off our meal is some konbini food 🙂 The karage has such a good flavour and is so juicy! Today we are going to Otaru! Otaru is a port city known for its canals, fresh seafood and windchimes The train ride is so scenic And we’re here! Only took about an hour from Sapporo First stop is Senkaku Market, it’s filled with fresh seafood and restaurants Kaisen dons are really popular in this market There’s over an hour wait at the restaurant we want to try, so let’s explore first! First ice cream of the day! We just found out there’s an ice cream bingo event throughout Hokkaido, but we’re leaving soon :'( It has a delicate sweet potato flavour and a nice creamy texture. Highly recommend it if you’re here! Time for some lunch! This is one of the most popular kaisen don spots in the market Definitely on the pricier end of the foods we had in Japan, but still a steal compared to back home They gave us some dried crab as a quick appetizer So excited! The shrimp is so sweet! You can really taste how fresh it is He just got a big bite of wasabi lol And back to eating lol The crab is also really sweet with a nice saltiness at the end The tuna melts in your mouth! I think the salmon back in Canada is better though The scallop might’ve been the best bite First time trying uni! It has a mild ocean taste and a super creamy texture Time to explore! Picked up a cute lil souvenir 🙂 And onto the second ice cream stop! This one had an icier texture which I prefer Time for Jason’s milk test Has that strong cow flavour he’s looking for lol Otaru has multiple canals running through the city More things I wished I bought :'( You can hear the wind chimes while walking through the town So cute! And now the final ice cream stop? We heard Le Tao is a must-visit dessert spot here The cheese flavour is really light, which is nice! I do prefer plain milk ice cream though The cake has alternating layers of Japanese and New York cheesecake. If you like cheesecake, this is definitely for you The brulee flavour is a bit too burnt which takes away from the tart 🙁 The alleys of Otaru are so beautiful Otaru is such a charming city and is worth visiting if you’re nearby Today is our last day in Sapporo! Getting a coffee to start the day 🙂 and some ice cream lol This one is really rich with a nice espresso flavour If you like coffee flavoured ice cream, you should try it out! Sapporo is known for having some really nice thrift stores! There is a Sapporo summer festival happening right now! This festival is one of the largest beer gardens in all of Japan! We don’t drink though so we got pizza instead lol Honestly, it’s pretty good pizza for a festival The skewers are really tasty! There is a nice char and smoky flavour The thrift stores here are really nice One of our favourite types of stores 🙂 hehe and another one! This is the one he wanted There are so many of them! We held off from getting more this time lol Guess what we found? Cremia!!! This is hands down my favourite ice cream In my happy place 🙂 Exploring Mitsukoshi before dinner! The quality of food they have at a mall sometimes is unbelievable :’) One must try food in Sapporo is Ghengis Khan, a lamb bbq dish We arrived when the restaurant just opened, and they luckily let us in without reservations Making our dipping sauce They give you some instructions on how to grill the lamb *grill asmr* The shape of the grill allows the fat to drip into the veggies. It did make it a bit harder to grill though There is a great lamb flavour with no gaminess. Definitely recommend if you like lamb! And to end the night – checking out the iconic Nikka sign! We are now on the way to Osaka! This is our first time seeing a self-baggage area during our trip Flying is a lot cheaper than taking the shinkansen There are no lounges in this terminal so konbini food will do 🙂 Konbini chicken is so good See you soon Osaka!

  1. We will be going in August. Looks like lots of ice cream. I need to crash diet before we go 😅. How many days is enough for Sapporo and otaru?
