長野・信濃路で話題の道の駅!そびえ立つ天守閣はまさに「そばの城」そば打ち体験・そば食べ放題・名物そば「蕎麦づくしのテーマパーク」 Japan Soba Castle Restaurant Nagano

This time, we will be introducing the much talked about roadside station in Shimojo Village, Nagano Prefecture. Shimojo Village is famous for its many tourists, including the entertainer Ryuta Mine. The roadside station, Shinanoji Shimojo, is called “Shinanoji Shimojo Soba Castle.” Soba Castle has the appearance of a Japanese castle and is a very large facility. This roadside station is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year since it opened. It also houses a factory that produces local specialties and souvenirs, as well as popular souvenir soba noodles. There is also a restaurant and you can try making soba noodles. This is a true day in the life of a soba theme park. The first floor of the facility is where you can purchase local specialties and souvenirs. A day at Soba Castle begins with the factory that produces the popular fresh soba noodles. Soba noodles are made using stone-ground buckwheat flour. Preparations for opening also begin at the restaurant on the second floor. Soba tea is boiled and served to customers. It is said that koshihikari rice produced in Nagano Prefecture is used. On this day, seasoned rice will be prepared for guests coming on a bus tour group, and plain rice will be prepared for general customers . The grated daikon radish used in the tororo soba is popular. The grated yam used in the tororo soba is prepared during the morning meeting before opening. The first floor opens at 9:00 and sells a wide variety of products, including pickles and souvenirs. Nagano is known for its gohei mochi and oyaki, and each gohei mochi is handmade. Two types of gohei mochi are sold: the Ninomaru gohei mochi and the skewered gohei mochi. Freshly baked croissants are also sold . The golden brown gohei mochi is dipped in a homemade sauce and baked to perfection. The soba factory is open from the morning and freshly made soba is available for purchase on the first floor. Soba made in the factory is sold every day. The restaurant on the second floor opens on weekdays at 10:00. :30-15:30, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays 10:00-16:00We are busy with preparations before opening and getting ready for opening, with both the floors for general customers and for group customersThis is a very rare piece of cooking equipment used to boil soba noodles, and it is the first time I have seen itWe are preparing wankosoba noodles for tasting, which are sold as souvenirs , and for customers who come on bus tours, we prepare wankosoba noodles for the number of customers according to the time of their arrivalWe adjust the time so that customers can sample freshly boiled soba noodles according to the time of the bus’s arrival, and we are ready to start tasting them as soon as the bus arrivesNext is the meal of customers dining on a bus tourI have done various interviews, but this is the first time I have photographed so many pots lined up at onceWe have many customers who come on bus tours, so we have many reservations not only on weekends but also on weekdaysWe have also opened a restaurant where general customers can dineWe serve our popular Ochida spicy radish Shisoba , katsu curry , and almost all the dishes served at Soba no Shiro come with soba noodles. Their dashi stock is prepared in the same way as drip coffee, which is a distinctive feature. The beef bowl, of course, also comes with soba noodles, making it a beef bowl set meal. The “Daimyo Soba” set includes a triple assortment of shrimp tempura and vegetable tempura. Freshly boiled soba noodles are prepared and served upon the arrival of the bus passengers. At lunchtime, the number of local customers increases, in addition to tourists. This is the popular salaryman set meal, available only on weekdays (until 2:00 PM). The “Daimyo Soba” includes a triple assortment of tempura, while the “Ten Zaru Soba” set includes shrimp tempura and five types of vegetable tempura. The soba is designed to boil large quantities of soba noodles simultaneously on both sides, allowing for the soba noodles to be prepared for both group and general customers. The “Salaryman Set Meal” includes a set of stewed pork cutlet and soba noodles. At this point, an order was placed for Soba no Shiro’s specialty menu. The “Soba no Shiro” set, featuring a castle-like bowl, is a specialty menu item. During peak lunch hours, Soba Castle receives large orders for the salaryman set meal. Soba Castle’s popular “All-You-Can-Eat Zaru Soba” and sauce cutlet bowl also come with soba noodles. Soba Castle’s “Tonosama” comes with seasoned rice. Two specialty menu items are offered: “Soba Castle Tonosama” and “Soba Castle Himesama,” which is a soba noodle dish served in a wariko soba bowl. Here, we greeted the customers ordering the all-you-can-eat soba and took photos of the soba. Preparation also begins for the second group of tour customers. Group customers who have made reservations can enjoy dishes such as hoto hotpot, teppanyaki, and soba. Soba Castle is visited by bus tour customers from various regions, including Kanto, Nagoya, Kansai, and Hokuriku. Soba Castle is also popular for its soba-making experience, which can be used by customers who make reservations in advance. The spacious Soba Dojo can accommodate up to 250 customers, and preparations are made in advance so that even first-time customers can experience soba-making with confidence. You can make soba noodles using the soba dough you’ve prepared, and you can take the finished soba home after the soba-making experience is over. Since the visit was on a weekday, it wasn’t particularly busy, but on weekends during the tourist season, it gets very busy. After the restaurant closed, we tried Soba Castle’s specialty menu. This popular menu allows you to enjoy freshly made soba noodles with a variety of condiments, and it also comes with a set of seasoned rice . The soba noodles are stacked three-tiered in a castle-themed dish, and you can choose to add spicy Oyata daikon radish, tororo, green onions, and wasabi to your liking. The fragrant , freshly made soba noodles are slightly flattened. “Shinano Road Shimojo Soba Castle” is a roadside station bustling with visitors every day. This roadside station in Nagano Prefecture is popular for driving and motorcycle touring, and is a great place to buy local specialties and enjoy some carefully made soba noodles. Shimojo Village, located in the southern part of Nagano Prefecture, is easily accessible, so if you’re interested, why not stop by Soba Castle?
