I’ve been looking at 5th gen civics for a while and found this. Already did a test drive, it ran great and I loved it. Not sure about the miles as it had an Acura engine swap. The 2 biggest problems though is the fact that there is no ac or power steering. I would like to add those sooner rather than later. Other than that some cosmetic work is needed, mostly inside. I know I’m not going to find this car in perfect condition, so I wanted something I could work on and learn. Not sure if this would be too much though. The price is 2.7k

Today’s market, that’s a good deal. Make sure you’ve got extra cash tho

Daily driving a car right now with no AC I will tell you it’s not fun

  3. AC can be very difficult to setup on motor swaps, even if it’s a motor from the same family, company, or even car in another trim. Ask the owner why they don’t have ac working. If they say “oh it’s easy you just have to connect the fittings and it’ll work” then it’s not easy and it is way more complicated then that. If it was easy to get the AC working they would have done it. A shop won’t get the ac working unless it’s a speciality shop. So you are fully on your own. Same also goes for power steering honestly. How do you suppose you’ll get the power steering working? They wouldn’t go through the trouble of polishing the valve cover and getting some fancy timing pulleys only to not fix the ac and ps if it was doable.

I support getting a fun project car, but I’m a firm believer in rule 1 which is never buy someone else’s project car. Buying someone else’s project to use as a daily is pretty crazy ngl. If you encounter some weird wiring issue you won’t have any resources for help, nothing about the swap will be documented. The exception to never buying someone else’s project car is if you 110% know what you are doing.
