5 Things To Do in Sendai – Japan’s Most Underrated City

Here are five reasons why you should make Sai your next adventure. [Music] Welcome to Sai. The first stop we got to make is a cultural one here at Zooi Hoden, the resting spot of Date Masamune, the legendary Sai samurai. The shrine is gorgeous and surrounded by these towering cedar trees. And be prepared. There was a lot of steps to get up here. So, wear comfortable shoes and expect a bit of a climb to get up to these shrines. It’s a peaceful place and a great way to start your adventure out here in Sai. Next, let’s head to the Sai Castle ruins for a little dose of history and a killer view. Built by Dante Masamune, this mountaintop site gives you panoramic shots of the whole city. The castle might be gone, but the energy and that iconic statue of Masamune still makes this spot a mustsee. Now for something sweet and unique. This is the Zunda shake made out of sweet edamame. You can get edeetami sweets all over Sai, but this one in particular is very popular. I know it sounds strange, but if you love edamame, something creamy and sweet, this is an absolute must. This one you can get in Sai Station. There is a bit of a line, but it moves very quick. Definitely pick this up when you arrive in Sai if you’re looking for something sweet. The next thing you absolutely have to do in Sai is eaton. Literally means beef tongue in Japanese. And while that might sound a bit unusual, it’s a beloved local specialty here in Sundai. Grilled over charcoal, guton has the rich, meaty flavor and a slightly chewy texture that’s seriously addictive. It’s usually served as a part of a set meal with barley rice, oxtail soup, and pickled vegetables. I like it so much the promoters of my show took me out for a proper guton dinner along with Jimmy Clash, who was DJing at another club that same night. Oh yeah, the spot we went to even served to grated yam mixed with soy sauce and a raw egg which you pour over your barley rice. It pairs perfectly with the guton. Definitely try it when you’re in Sai. And finally, reason number five why you should come to Sai is of course the night life. Most of the night life is happening out here in Koku Buno where you’ll find tons of girls bars, host clubs, normal bars, whiskey bars, and some nightclubs. And there are two nightclubs that I can highly recommend. The first nightclub is 101. 101 is a popular nightclub where the DJs play a mixture of hip-hop, EDM, and all kinds of different sounds. This nightclub also has a pretty amazing sound system as well. So, definitely check out this club if you want to party. And the second nightclub is called Art. And that is actually the club I am DJing at tonight. I’m about to start DJing in a few minutes. Let’s go to the club. [Music] Wow, Art Nightclub. That was absolutely crazy. That club was packed. And I’ve been trying to tell people for a long time, do not sleep on Synindai’s nightlife. It goes off. The clubs may not be too big, but the clubs go hard. And there you go. That is five reasons why you should come to Sai. If this video was helpful to you, be sure to like it. If you got any questions, put it down in the comments.
