He started as the fifth batter and catcher. With the score at 3-1 in the top of the sixth inning, he stepped up to bat with one out and no runner on base. He swung powerfully at the first pitch thrown by pitcher Soichiro Yamazaki, a high fastball. The sharp hit flew into the left-field stands for his sixth solo home run. It was his first home run in about a month, since July 5th.

Gunji sacrifice fly in his first at-bat and hit that led to an additional run in his second at-bat. He has maintained his batting form, recording a batting average of .345 in 17 games in July.
