Okinawa
@film by rucoladiary Day 3 Morning of day 3… urgently need some energy. Heard this is a must-buy from Japanese pharmacies—had to try it. Quick and easy breakfast from the convenience store! Saw this on ChooSungHoon’s YouTube—I had to try it too 😆 🫐🍓 Berry yogurt flavor! 🍓🫐 You can’t skip tamago sandwiches at Japanese convenience stores 🥪 Water drips a little, then it blends up excitedly haha I heard you can get these in Korean convenience stores now too? It just tastes like a real berry smoothie. Not a super unique flavor, but in this crazy heat, it hits the spot. Finished a light breakfast, now off to Naha! Okinawa is sunny again today ☀️🔥 We stopped by Ashibinaa Outlet… honestly, not really worth a visit. Not a lot of stuff… just kinda meh… 📍Tamaya Toyosaki Here to try Okinawa soba~! When everything’s in Japanese, go with the “Best Menu” choice! We picked the soba topped with pork ribs and pork belly! And this rice called “jushi” served with the soba was SO good!! My husband got the large size. Everyone else was ordering the rice too, so we followed suit. Glad we did—tastes like soy sauce steamed rice, totally delicious. Now for the Okinawa soba! I’d heard the noodles are thick and taste very wheaty— And yep, that’s exactly right!! 😂 Very floury taste but honestly not bad! Should’ve ordered extra meat… The pork rib topping was the best part! The portion’s pretty big—small size is probably enough! Today we’re heading to a self-snorkeling spot my husband found! Driving through really rural roads, and more roads… Arrived! 📍Odo Beach These days, because of health issues for people over 65, a lot of snorkeling tours don’t accept them anymore,,!! That’s why there are spots like this where families can self-snorkel! Just look at how clear the water is;;;;; It’s just a shame the camera can’t capture it all..🥲
Shall we start having some real fun? In Okinawa, the seabed is mostly coral, so aqua shoes are a must ‼️ Even in shallow water, there were so many fish 🐠 🐟 🐡 And cute blue tropical fish were visible too. The fish just swim in schools. It’s such a shame the image quality is so bad 🥹 Odo Beach had so few people, it felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. We swam hard for quite a while. And had a blast watching the fish 😝 On the way back, we met a curious creature… Does anyone know what it was…? Oh, I was so flustered I couldn’t get a good picture, but for your information, you can use the shower at Odo Beach for 300 yen! (There’s no changing room though!) Back in Naha, we arrived at our accommodation! 📍La’gent Hotel Okinawa Naha A full city view and a distant glimpse of the ocean. Washed up and heading out for food. After swimming, I’m so hungry I could die. 📍THE TACORICE HOUSE They say you *have* to try taco rice when you come to Okinawa, right? I’m eating dinner again later, so I only ordered a medium taco rice and two tacos. I should’ve ordered a large,,,, lol The tacos were seriously delicious… The tortilla was pink, so I was a bit put off at first (?), but It was still amazingly delicious 😭 Finished in 30 seconds… The taco rice was also delicious… It’s literally like eating taco ingredients with rice, and it’s just so good. It was so delicious, I didn’t even realize my armpit was showing 😂 Little did I know then… that something terrible was waiting for us…^^ 300 meters before returning the rental car… A car from behind slammed into ours with incredible force… The rear window shattered, and glass flew everywhere… I rode in an ambulance for the first time in my life… The elderly driver behind us apparently mistook the accelerator for the brake… The breathalyzer test was negative, so they weren’t drunk. 300 meters before returning the rental car… 9 minutes before returning… Is this for real? My first car accident ever, and of all places, in Okinawa, haha. The rental car staff drove us to the nearest train station. I still can’t believe if this is a dream or reality… I booked the rental car through Klook, so I’ll share the insurance claim process shortly! The sky is so beautiful, but my heart isn’t there…😥 I decided to go back to the hotel to calm down a bit. 📍Maruchan Let’s calm these shaken nerves with a cold draft beer… Master, please hurry…🥹 Time to eat! I thought I ordered a lot, but it’s surprisingly little~ The chicken skin was crispy and so delicious. Even though the accident kept flashing in my mind, It was so delicious, I found myself dancing while eating… People were ordering “magui” a lot, so I ordered it too. What is this taste…? It was super crunchy… After eating yakitori and replaying the accident a thousand times in my head, I went back to the hotel and crashed. Day 4 It feels like someone beat me up all night, but let’s try to have fun today too! The weather is good, but I’m still feeling down(?) Woke up with my whole body aching… and bruises started appearing. All you folks in carts, be careful driving too… 📍Mazemen Mahoroba We came to a mazemen restaurant popular with Koreans. Waited about 10-15 minutes? I thought I was going to melt from the heat. My husband ordered cheese soba. Mine was spicy Taiwanese soba, I think? With Orion non-alcoholic beer 🍺 Personally, I liked the non-alcoholic Orion better than the regular one, haha. Gotta enjoy the rest of the time by eating delicious food!!! It was just a *little* bit salty for me. Honestly, I don’t really love mazemen to begin with, you know? It’s always too oily, so I can never finish it. But maybe because this one was spicy? I ate it so deliciously… Koreans really know good food, after all…👍 Right next to the soba place, there was a sweet potato shop (?). Couldn’t just pass by sweet potatoes~ They’re a gift from God. Had sweet potato ice cream for dessert 🍠🍠 Came to Ryubo Department Store to buy souvenirs! As rumored, there were lots of Polo and Vivienne Westwood items!! Seriously wanted to buy all colors of the dishcloths at home, lol. Also bought Snoopy dishcloths (?) for my teammates. And for myself, I bought Vivienne Westwood stockings, socks, etc. Shopping done! But if you’re going to Ryubo Department Store… You absolutely *must* go to Francfranc… There were so many cute things perfect for gifts. …and even more things I wanted for myself 🎀 Too many temptations, so watch your wallet 🫣 I think this was Naha City Hall? The building was beautiful, so I took a picture. The cafe I wanted to go to was closed… So we just went into a random cafe. This copper coffee cup was too cute. I was worried if it was really okay to go back to Korea without any accident certification… so I contacted the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and decided to visit the local police station again. But, unbelievably… we mistakenly went to the Okinawa Prefectural Police Headquarters, haha. Even so, they kindly called the local police station for us. Since it was the weekend, the accident report wasn’t fully processed yet, and they told us we probably wouldn’t be able to get the necessary documents. I was driving extra carefully and focusing hard because it was overseas, Who would’ve thought we’d get rear-ended? Even when I tried not to think about it, the accident scene kept coming back to me, and the stress was just too much. Why did this happen to us…? If we had left the gas station a bit later, maybe the accident wouldn’t have happened… All sorts of “what ifs” kept popping up, and I couldn’t focus on the trip anymore.😵💫 But at the same time, I’m truly grateful that no one was in the back seat. If there had been a baby in a car seat… I would have fainted. Let me briefly explain the insurance claim process. Since I had Klook’s full coverage insurance, I didn’t have to pay anything for the car repairs. As for NOC (Non-Operation Charge), I first paid it to the company, and then submitted the accident documents to Klook, and it’s currently being processed! Just follow the instructions given by the Klook app support team! (I’ll put more details in the video description!) Also, we didn’t go to a hospital while in Japan, but we went after returning to Korea. The hospital fees for that are not directly related to Klook; you need to file a separate claim with AXA Insurance, the insurer Klook uses. Having gone through this, there were many inconveniences, so from now on, I think I’ll book directly with rental car companies instead of third-party apps like Klook. Maybe because we were foreigners, the explanations were vague and unclear. And I had no idea if Japan even has a traffic accident settlement process. In the end, I just wrapped it up thinking, “It’s a relief we weren’t seriously injured. I’ll believe good things will come from this.” I sincerely hope that no one watching this video ever experiences anything like this! And if anyone booked through Klook, I hope this information helps a little! Now, let’s get back to focusing on the trip~!! Stopped by Kaldi and bought various souvenirs. Time to recharge with some meat! This elevated train in Okinawa is called Yui Rail. It was so much fun riding it and seeing the city views! While waiting for a table at the yakiniku place, we briefly strolled along Kokusai Dori. There were so many beautiful Ryukyu glass crafts 💙 📍Buchi Kumoji Branch 2 We came for yakiniku! Looks like it’s definitely going to be delicious, right? I wanted to drink Orion non-alcoholic, but they didn’t have it 🥲 A toast to us, for making it through physically and mentally! I was so hungry I forgot to take a picture of the menu, haha. We ordered short rib, tongue, and large intestine! It just melted in my mouth 🤤 Applause 👏👏👏 The beef tongue was also super delicious. It was written as “gopchang” (small intestine), but it was actually large intestine, haha. For some reason, I always get an upset stomach when I eat large intestine, so I only had one piece and gave the rest to my husband, but the seasoning was really good! I think this was their most popular menu item, so it might be worth trying! We walked around Kokusai Dori for a bit to digest before heading back to the hotel! There were too many people; it was a bit overwhelming for me… Finally got the creme brulee ice cream I’d been so curious about! Does it really taste like real creme brulee?! You have to hit it harder than real creme brulee, though, haha. This was seriously… so, so delicious… It tasted completely different from regular convenience store desserts. Honestly, with this trauma, I don’t think I’ll be going to Japan for a while, but If I do go… I’ll eat two of these a day. Day 5 The last day of our trip has dawned. We’re going to eat breakfast before heading to the airport. 📍Mikasa Matsuyama Branch We came here to try Japanese home cooking! Even though it was early, the place was packed. It felt like mostly locals. I ordered Goya Champuru, an Okinawan specialty with bitter melon. I was also curious about jimami tofu, so I ordered that too. It felt more like pudding than tofu. This was truly a completely new taste and texture experience for me!!! This is tofu…? The texture was unique, not like tofu, but more like a peanut-flavored pudding with soy sauce. But I actually liked it! Hmm… yeah, the visual was a bit intimidating, haha. Honestly, it was more salty than bitter, I’d say. The bitter melon was very bitter, but it probably wasn’t the chef’s fault… It was probably just a naturally bitter bitter melon. The texture was similar to thickly sliced zucchini. If the bitter melon hadn’t been so bitter, it would have been a decent side dish! Last convenience store visit. It was a bit disappointing that I didn’t get to visit many nice cafes on this trip. But every trip has its little regrets, right? Now, off to the airport on the Yui Rail. It was so convenient because you can get to the airport from downtown Naha in less than 20 minutes by Yui Rail! Finishing off our Okinawa trip with a Blue Seal ice cream! Goodbye, Okinawa…! With the trauma, I’m not sure if I’ll be back for a while ^^ My travel vlogs always end with spicy tteokbokki…❤️ Gotta have a welcome home party, right? I hope this video helps anyone planning a trip to Okinawa. Thank you so much for watching my Okinawa travel vlog!
