WINTER IN HOKKAIDO ep. 01 | sapporo snow festival 2025, sapporo beer museum, shiroi koibito park

We are back in Japan. I feel like it’s only been 3 months since our honeymoon in Japan, but this time we’re doing winter in Hokkaido. We’re currently in Saporro for the snow festival. It happens once a year around this time in February. It’s our first time, so we’re really excited to explore the area. We’re staying at a boutique hotel called Bespoke. So far, it’s in a really good location. The snow festival officially starts tomorrow. So, today we’re going to kick off the day by eating crab for lunch. Then later, we’re going to walk around and we’re going to head to the famous chocolate factory in Saporro. [Music] I’m going to try this one. Actually, [Applause] [Music] it’s super warm. Nice and warm. These are nice because they’re shots. Basically, you just down it. Toss it right here. Keep going on about butt. [Music] It’s very light. Pretty good. [Music] I didn’t try my first piece of crap. [Music] repeat. [Music] We have to put our spikes on right now because there is so much snow here. We just finished eating at lunch and now we’re walking towards the chocolate factory. I’m really excited to visit during this time because there’s going to be lots of snow around and they’re going to have the illumination show later tonight. [Music] Just made it to the chocolate factory. [Music] here. [Music] We’re at the Chocolattopia factory right now. [Music] Wow. [Music] This one’s dark chocolate, obviously. And then we have white chocolate. They’re the bigger cookies of what we just ate. Looks really good. [Music] We both got a set each. Mine has like a chocolate ice cream, some sponge type cake, and I picked up an ice latte. [Music] It’s very milky. Good. Good. [Music] [Music] What’s the [Music] chills. [Music] [Applause] [Music] Let’s do it. [Music] We made it back to Saporro area. Luckily, we took the underground and we’re right next to our hotel. But once we exited the underground, look at what we saw. Snow. I’m not sure if you can see it here, but it’s snowing a lot. Uh, this underground system is so useful cuz we only have to c like walk one block and we’re back to our hotel. It’s good. It’s the spot. [Music] [Music] [Music] tax free. [Music] Good morning. Today is the first day of the Saporro Snow Festival 2025. I’m all bundled up because it’s actually snowing pretty hard outside. There are three sites that we’re going to visit today. The first one is going to be Sudome. It’s a little further outside of the city. It’s about 40 minutes away. So, we’re going to take the train there. Then, we’re going to head back to Odori Park and then finish the night off at Suzukino, which is where we’re staying at. I’m so excited. Apparently 2 million people visit the snow festival every year. There’s going to be a lot of food vendors and ice sculptures. So, it’s going to be really fun. We just got to the train station on our way to the first site which is Sud. It looks like we’re going to have to take like a shuttle bus there, but this place you get to actually play in the snow and there’s going to be like snow sport activities. We’re excited for this one. [Music] Hey, it’s [Music] So, we just finished on the snow slide and we’re going to enjoy some ramen. [Music] Okay. Did you [Music] put [Music] It’s okay. [Music] other [Music] [Applause] easy. [Music] This tastes like a French fry. Just a very long French fry. We made it to Odori Park, which is the second site of the Saporro Snow Festival. We just got some snacks to eat and now we’re walking around to see the different ice sculptures. How big is this park? There’s like 11 blocks. 11 blocks. Highly recommend getting these. These are ice spikes. You could get them from Don Kiote. We got it for 1,500 yen. You just wrap it around your shoe. [Music] [Music] What is this thing? That’s not Psyduck. [Music] Oh my god. [Music] All right, we made it to The final site of the day. This is going to be the Susukino Ice Festival. [Music] Another [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] We finally made it to Sua Gay Plus for dinner. We went the other day, but they actually closed the line pretty early. I think we tried to go around 7:30 or 8. We came back earlier today after a day trip to Otaru. It’s a ticket system. You get a numbered ticket and then you just come back when you’re called. Suge is a pretty popular soup curry place. So far, we’ve been pretty impressed by soup curry in general. We’re excited to try it. Cheers. Ice tea. Our soup curry is here. So, this is mine. I got the brazed pork. I added to two pieces of fried chicken, boiled egg, eggplant. Looks really good. This is the Hokkaido special chicken. I added corn, broccoli, and I got the shrimp base broth. I have my chicken soup curry. And I actually like this one more because it’s more soup. You should try my broth. I actually got the shrimp broth. It’s an extra 150 yen, but it’s so tasty. The pork belly is really good. It’s really soft and flavorful. After we got back from the Jozank area, we shopped around for a little bit. Then now we’re at the Saporo Beer Museum. [Applause] Hallelujah. [Music] [Applause] [Music] So, we’re at the Saporro Beer Museum before our dinner at the beer garden. We are here more for the tasting. They’re actually pretty light, but they kind of taste the same to me. I can’t really tell what the difference is. Try the black label. I’m not really into beer, but I think it’s still really cool because we are in Saporro to visit the museum and then try out their beer. I think the Black Label is the lightest wine. They give you three beers. We have the flap label. Sephoro’s bestselling product since it release in 1977. A perfect balance of barley flavor and crisp aftertaste. Longl lasting and refreshing drinkability. It’s actually very light. Second one is just the classic. It’s made from 100% malt. Original beer taste. Chemistry is right for ingredients grown in rich nature of Hokkaido. And this is the Kaakushi beer. It’s made from the original recipe. Brewed using only malt, hops, yeast, and pure water. a rich and mild taste. My favorite one’s Black Label. Black Label is some bestselling product and I can see why. It’s very clean. It doesn’t have a strong beer taste to it. Cheese. As for me, I just got some corn tea and we’re going to enjoy some of this with our snacks before dinner. We’re eating Genghaskhan tonight at 6:30 p.m., which is basically grilled lamb. All done. [Music] [Music] We are at the Saporro Beer Garden. We just put our orders in. We have vegetables and then lamb to start. It’s an all you can eat place for 2 hours. We’re just starting off with this type of lamb, but apparently there’s different types of lambs that you can get. For the all you can eat, we’re starting off with the lamb genus. We can also get lamb chuck roll, lamb chop, lamb thigh, lamb loin, lamb spare ribs, marinated lamb, and this like miso sauce, lamb jerky, and then other meats as well, but we’re probably just going to focus on the lamb. So, the marinated one here. And then this is the I think this might be lamb thigh or lamb chuck roll. That’s a lamb jerky. We also got the all you can drink soft drink. So I got long tea and it was only 800 yen. Also got another glass of beer. This is the Sephora five-star. Apparently this is only available in your garden. Here we go. Adding some fat all around. I’m on top of this. Yeah, this was one of the meals that I was most excited to eat. I think the reservations were a must, but we had to call. Let’s try this out. This is the beef rib. So, put these on. So, we got beef ribs. It does come with chicken and pork, too, but they’re not from Hokkaido, so I’m not going to order those. We’re going to focus mostly on lamb. All right, let’s try the frozen lamb digest pond. Mhm. Try out the lamb chumai. [Applause] That’s what it looks like. Pretty good. They even have lamb egg roll. It has a lot of flavor. We’re kind of frozen right now. Good morning. It’s our last day in a Saporro. We’re going to be flying up from Hokkaido to Tokyo tonight. We’re going to head over to see Odori Park where the snow festival is. We’re going to get some breakfast, go shopping, and then maybe get soup curry as our last meal before leaving this area. We are back at Ketta’s Coffee. We actually went last time and we really liked it. So, we are back again. It’s really good comfort food. I’m getting the same thing as last time, which is a Ka blend coffee with toast. I love that they use butter and red bean paste. With butter and red bean paste. It’s like sweet and savory. Get here. Yeah, we are back at Odori Park. It’s our second time here. This is one of the sites for the snow festival. As you can see, all of the different sculptures are here. It’s such a beautiful park. I would love to come back. You can see the Panasonic Tower there. That’s very iconic. We’re just going to walk around for a little bit before heading out to lunch. It’s our last day in Saporro. [Music] [Music] Let’s try it. Let’s try it. I’m going to try some exclusives. [Music] Yes. Exactly what I wanted. [Music] Any of the magnets we’re okay with. We want the magnets, which are these. We want these. And these were pins. Easy. Not the TV tower magnet. We are at Sukuri Gaku. We wanted to try to eat this our first or second night here, but it was closed. So, we’re going on our last day before we head back to Chose airport. Go to Tokyo. It’s so good. It really hits the spot, especially since it’s snowing and cold outside. [Music] Are the bus here? Oh. [Music]
