Japan Motorcycle Tour: Mt Aso Volcano Ride & Fukuoka Street Food | Soul 2 Soul Ep 2
[Music] I’ve called Japan home now for 26 years.
It’s not just where I live. It’s woven into who I am. Riding my motorcycle across
these roads, I break through barriers. It connects me with the heart and the soul of
this incredible country, this land I call home. So, yesterday was like literally
one of the greatest days of my life, riding through Kyushu. So, of course, 5:00
in the morning, 6:00, whatever it was, I wake up like a little kid on Christmas
cuz I get to do it all over again. Morning guys. Yeah, we’re going to go ride over a
volcano. So, that’s the other half of Okinawa Americana. Say hi. Hi. Every day I’m going to say the same thing. This jacket’s freaking awesome. I’m going to get my jacket
today. I know. You’re going to love it. So, I think we got to go. Yeah, we’re going to
go down that way. All right. Okay, let’s go. All right, on the road. So, how you feeling on day two, Dave? Man, this is uh I mean, you wake up and then you just ride into this scene. Right? It’s kind of It’s kind
of surreal sometimes, right? It’s just It’s like you’re rolling into the the set of The Last
Samurai or something where they filmed it. If we do see a uh a petrol station at one time,
I got to pull in. But I’m still good for like another 100ks. So that’s a gas station.
You got about 60 miles left. Is that what you This is how we’re meant to be riding. Yeah. Look
at that. Both sides. Not a building to be seen. We rode on. The road peeling out before
us with beautiful views on either side. For a day that was forecast sunny,
the weather sure was looking rough. We spotted a viewpoint up ahead and
decided to stop and check out the volcano. That looks like it’s raining up there. As we pulled up, we could see a crazy
looking squall tearing towards us from the volcano. That didn’t look good. So,
we decided to uh duck into the tunnel and take shelter. The storm looked like it was
going to pass in about 30 minutes or so. It’s coming down now. I’m going back in. Yeah, it’s nothing like just chilling out in the
tunnel. All right, so this is this thing you do in Australia. If you get lost in the wilderness,
you want to call out to your friends, you want to find each other. I’m going to do it right
now cuz this tunnel’s dope for it. Here we go. Dave, it would seem like the storm has passed. It looks like it. Look how Look at that. All right, let’s go. That’s the volcano. Dude. You’re like at an F1 pit stop. Yeah, this is awesome. Thank you very much. We can roll. Dude. Yeah, this is just riders nirvana through here. This GB is hanging in, man. Yeah, man. She’s a good bike. Wow. Crazy. Beautiful, huh. Oh my goodness. It’s like you’re going to ride off into the clouds. Yeah, it’s wild, isn’t it? What a place. Look at the scars on that mountain
up there though to your left. Yeah. Oh, that’s so cool. Man, that’s scarred up big. Yeah, it’s beautiful, right? Whoa. Whoa. Whoa! [ __ ] idiot, dude. Jesus Christ, man! Hey, that’ll get the heart going. Yeah, Dude. That was pretty close. Yeah, that was! Are you right? Oh, yeah, yeah. What I was saying was before I almost got killed… All right, man. See that big uh brown section
to your right? Yeah. That’s the crater. Yeah, it’s closed. It’s closed. Oh, man. All right, buddy. Well, let’s get some food here cuz there’s a little uh little restaurant in there, I think. All right. This is the Aso volcano curry. See, I got a volcano. And this is… You didn’t say [ __ ] right? you said Aso. Yeah, I said I said it. Well, I can say [ __ ] if you want me to. But it it fails in comparison to the
just the awesome size of your Naan. Yeah, it’s all about the size. No matter what anybody tells you. What you think? Is it good? Not bad? Not good? It’s definitely not the best curry I’ve ever had.
It’s a bit It’s a bit uh bit watery. Although the volcano was closed, the view from the restaurant
wasn’t half bad. Unlike the curry. You know, there’s one thing that I don’t have. What’s that? A motorcycle jean jacket. Oh, dude. Well, this shop we go to
has all that kind of stuff I think. I’m getting nostalgic. I got
to get my John Cougar Mellencamp on. Look at this view, buddy. Look at this volcano. Man… that’s crazy! I’ve toured Japan many times playing
music, but I’ve never seen it like this. The roads from Mt Aso to Fukuoka,
unreal. We cruised through mountains, rolled down valleys, and followed rivers. Small towns slip by. Old shops… kids waving. I soaked in every mile. Then the Fukuoka skyline rose, pulling us to the shop. All right, so we’re here at the shop. This
place is awesome. Takan’s awesome. And I’ve got to pick up my new jacket. Hope it fits. Try this on. Okay, nice, very cool! let’s try it. Size is Good. Nice. Nice size. Just size. Absolutely. Good? Good! It’s full mesh. I can’t make fun of you. Full mesh jacket! Thank you! I want a denim jacket. This is cool! TripMachine Yes or no? It’s pretty cool. That’s all me. Hold on. Oh, yeah dude!. Ask her. How is it? Double shakka! Good! Size is perfect! I like it. It really suits you! And this is the coolest shop ever. Look at
these jackets, man. Look at this. [Music] Thank you so much! I will be back, we had a blast! Hey, how’s it going, guys? So, we’re finally here
at a hotel for the night. That was what, like 12 hours. Dave’s an absolute warrior, man. I don’t know where we are, but this is where we’re going. All right. How is it, buddy? This is 10 out of 10. That’s 10 out of 10 out of 10 Yeah, that is what I call a meal. Dave doesn’t
drink, but I’m I’m drinking. All right, I have enough problems. we’ll see you guys tomorrow, man. We’re going
to eat and then we’re done. That was a hell of a day. Hell of a day. Hell of a day. I’m stoked. All right. Morning, guys. Day three. Look at this. This is the reality of uh the gear you got
to deal with when you’re shooting videos on YouTube from a motorcycle. It’s a beautiful day
out there. Dave and I are going to go check out the city. Check out Fukuoka. And um yeah, we
might take a lay day from the bikes today. And we got a whole bunch of cool stuff to go
check out. So should be fun. What are we doing, Dave? It’s our day off in Fukuoka from this trip.
So we’re going to do what most people would do after riding 12 hours. About to take a train to a
motorcycle shop. We got problems. We got big problems but, shhh Everybody’s really quiet. All right, this is where we are. It’s like a big ass motorcycle shop. Dude they got…Look at the paint job on that Yamaha! That’s what you wanted, yeah? Yeah! Kenny Roberts Oh it’s been sold! Now we’re talking. The Africa Twin I think this looks
way better than I thought it did. I’m not sure if you have seen something like this,
but this is a chicken vending machine. We have two motorcycles just sitting there in front
of the hotel. We’re like, “Let’s get on train.” Dave… Is it possible we go into a
guitar store? I mean, maybe right. These are really good. Those
are hard to find. Trying to get which one I want to play. You know what? Can I play that one? Dude, that thing’s loud. Oh, I’m
sorry. It’s about what was that? $16,000, $18,000, something like that.
Oh, but it’s on sale. So, I’m saving… I’m I’m losing money
by not buying this right now. See, he’s got it already! Man, he’s already got it! Dave, what are we doing right now? I don’t know. We just got on a bus. Hopefully, it’s the right bus. We’re trying to get to the baseball game. It’s the first time for me. First time watching a major league baseball game in Japan. Yeah, same
for me. Yeah, same. I’ve seen soccer. I’ve seen a couple other sports, but never baseball And
we’re going to watch it in there. It’s going to be nuts. That’s the Mizuho PayPay dome. Let’s do it. So good. You had to pay twice. This is crazy. So, we just got on the wrong bus and luckily
The bus driver told us the right bus and we got off that bus. Now we’re waiting for
another bus which will take us to this place where we can get some food. Uh it’s
pretty famous around in here in Fukuoka. It’s like food stalls by the canals. And I’m
just going to show you what Dave’s doing right now. That’s Dave. He’s just doing that. Are you hungry? I am hungry. Look first menu in English. Oh, okay. Let’s do here? Yakkitori! That’s good! Goes good with beer. This guy’s got the coolest guitar. How cool is this place, man? Look place to
stroll around. This feels a lot like, you know, like when you’re in Europe, like this kind of
feeling everywhere you go…Check it out, she’s got a… What’s that? Oh man!! Is that a Shamisen? Put it in my hole. Okay. So, I have to do this? Monday. Oh, I’m going to get a song. Do you speak English? A little bit. Yeah. Yes. Answer my questions.
Okay. Okay. Are you ready? Tuesday. No. No. No. No. No. I don’t know what just happened back there. That
was awesome. That was so damn cool. That’s the thing I love about the, you know, when you’re
going on trips and doing this sort of stuff is like, you know, you just come across these
cool people you would never meet unless you’re out traveling around on a motorcycle and just
like walking around checking out the world, man. It’s so cool. Oh, man. But how are you going to explain that? If you didn’t have that on film? I don’t even know what happened. My my wife Man Fukuoka rocks, dude. All right, man, well, it’s time to head back to the hotel, get some sleep with these two old men, and then
uh we’ll get up uh and hit the road tomorrow on the bikes and go uh go check out some more of
the countryside. Who knows what we’re gonna find next! Yeah right! I’m looking forward to it. Let’s do it. In next week’s episode, we get absolutely cooked riding through the city in 37° temperatures. We
stop in an awesome real Japanese motorcycle cafe. Then we hit the road through the mountains
to visit one of the world’s largest private motorcycle collections. All that and then we’re going to ride home in the rain. It’s going to be a good one. Thanks
for watching. Please subscribe and ring the notification bell so you don’t miss a thing.
And as always, happy riding, folks.

David in that yellow t-shirt reminds me to the 'more experienced' version of Jay from the Jay and Silent Bob. Nice ride, stay safe! May the roads be wide and trees made of rubber! (Rough translation of the Hungarian biker greetings)
Just a heads up, can't really hear you guys at all when the music is going. Example at 5:44 no idea what was said.

Thank you
Dave is so cool! I wish I'd have been hanging with you on the trip!
Cool! Regarding your today's plan last point: I'm missing kind of a Roman spirit (the longing for a beautiful death)? 😹😹
Hello from a biker from Spain ✌🏼
I can only say thanks for these amazing videos. Riding bikes truly is a difficult experience to explain, however with these videos i can really feel the joy of your trips. Not only the more "physical" part of riding a bike (sound, vibrations, the wind on your face, the speed…) but also the people you meet, the places you discover and the food hahaha. This videos really express how it really is to ride a motorcycle, thank you 🙂↕️
Que incrível ❤
