Tour the gardens in the sky at Fujimi Highland!

Hello, I’m Ichiro 😊 Today we will be touring the gardens at Fujimi Highland Resort in Nagano, Japan. July 29, 2025. This is the entrance to the romance area of Fujimi Highland, at an altitude of 1250 m. 1.First, we look at the flowers blooming on the ski slopes of the Romance Area, 2. take a cart up to the top of the mountain and see the rock garden, 3. Finally, a walk in the birch area at the foot of the mountain. Fujimi Highland Resort is a ski resort, but only during the summer it becomes a flower village. I have used the resort as a ski resort decades ago, but have been visiting during this time in the summer for several years now. It’s a great place to cool off and take a stroll through the flowers. I am a sweaty person, but I hardly sweat here. Summer is the time to go to the plateau✌️ This is the “center slope” of the intermediate and advanced slopes. This is the “Romance Slope,” a beginner’s slope. Marigolds bloom all over the Romance Slope, but since they are not in full bloom yet, this area is currently free. Southern Alps. After this, we’ll climb to the top of the mountain to see Mt. Fuji✌️ Marigolds are currently blooming a bit at the top of the romance slopes. In a little while, the whole area will be covered in yellow marigolds. This is a mirror garden. Hemerocallis. I came here today for the Best time to see Hemerocallis. This 110-meter garden is called the Mirror Garden because it is symmetrical like a mirror. 160 varieties of perennials are planted. Looks like mowing is about to start 🤔 The holes in the hosta leaves are because of a hailstorm about a month ago. Hemerocallis is a one-day flower, meaning that the flower that blooms wilts the next day. In the evening, they pluck the blooming flowers. This evening, all flowers now in bloom will be plucked. Hemerocallis is the scientific name for daylily, Greek for “beauty of one day.” Hemerocallis reminds me of the writer, Osamu Dazai, for some reason😅 Run, Meros! I see, “Run, Melos” is a story from ancient Greece. A gardener is Deadheading. Mirror garden. Border Garden. The Border Garden is an English-style garden with perennials planted in a border. These perennials will survive the winter, under the snow. This is a gentle beginner slope. There was a wasp 😱 I have never been stung by a wasp, but of course I don’t want to be stung for the rest of my life😅 Now then, let’s get in the cart and head for the summit. Cart station. From the cart station’s elevation of 1220 meters to the summit’s elevation of 1420 meters, a 25-minute climb. The cart is automatic. I really wanted to take the lift that takes 7 minutes to the summit, but the lift was not running that day, so I had no choice but to take the cart 😅 Temperature is 27C but feels much cooler. Before getting into the cart, the staff explains the precautions to be taken. After pressing the button, we start off. There is a steering wheel, but no operation is required. Speed is slow and constant. The speed limit is set by law😅 On the right, the final destination of the day, the Shirakaba area, comes into view. Annabelles are blooming in the front of the birch area, but as you walk deeper into the area, you will see many white birches and hemerocallis. To the summit, 25 min.50 minutes round trip😱 When the lift is running, definitely take the lift. We have arrived at the summit “Forest of Creation” ✌️ The walking path in the Forest of Creation takes about 20 minutes to walk around. Stop at the three observation decks and, finally, at the rock garden. If you are lucky, you can see Mt. Fuji from the observatory. Will we be able to see Mt. Fuji? Mt. Fuji! But then the sound of bells😅 Southern Alps. Mt. Fuji😃 In the foreground, you can see the next lookout 😊 They say there are 50 sculptures in the “Forest of Creation.” 370m to the next observatory. The walking trail is flat. This is the lookout we saw earlier. Today, I left my house at 7:00 a.m. at the foot of Mt. Fuji. The walking path in the “Forest of Creation” takes about 20 minutes to walk around. The “Forest of Creation” is located at the southern tip of the Yatsugatake Mountains. The third observatory. Summit rock garden. The Yatsugatake Mountains. in the background, the rock garden looks like a garden on a plateau😃 This place is 1420m above sea level. the temperature is probably around 25℃.Cool 👍 Now, leaving the “Forest of Creation,” we will finally head for the birch area. After all, the downhill also took 25 minutes😅 Cart station. Entrance to birch area. We have seen the ski slope garden and the rock garden at the top of the mountain. Those are highland gardens that you don’t see much else, in my opinion, and this birch area also has a view that you can’t see anywhere else👍 It’s cool, the view is spectacular, and coming here every year is one of my favorite things to do in the summer ✌️ Annabelle can be seen near the entrance to the birch area. Best time to see them is now, although they are already over on the plains. Hemerocallis can be seen 😊 There are all kinds of hostas, but they all got hit by hail (leopard). More birches 😃. Nice to see the white birches through the trees😊 It’s cool and a great walk ✌️ Birds chirping😃 Blue sky and white clouds👍 Red leaves?🤔 Hemerocallis. The flowers that are blooming now will be plucked this evening. Thanks to this, we can see hemerocallis in a beautiful state. I think it must be very difficult to pick so many flowers, but to my surprise, only one person is doing the work. Hemerocallis is the scientific name.It means “beauty of the day” in Greek. Enjoy the “beauty of the day” 😊 Birch and hemerocallis😃 There are many colors: ✌️ This is Hemerocallis in the birch area👍 Thank you again for watching the video to the end.
