Myanmar citizens living in the Hokkaido and Wakayama prefectures in Japan are advised to heed tsunami warnings and avoid coastal areas, announced the Myanmar Embassy in Tokyo, Japan.
The statement said that the Japan Meteorological Agency has issued a tsunami warning for the Japanese coast from Hokkaido Prefecture to Wakayama Prefecture due to an 8.7-magnitude earthquake that struck near the Kamchatka Peninsula in Russia at around 8:25 am on July 30.
Therefore, Myanmar citizens living in the area are advised to heed the warnings, stay in high ground, and avoid coastal areas until the tsunami warning is lifted, it said.
