Japan Issues Massive Coastal Evacuation After 8.8 Quake; Fukushima Workers Evacuated
Welcome back from the break. You’re watching NewsX and I’m Asabi Jinder. Big breaking news coming in at this point of time. Japan’s evacuation warnings now span hundreds of kilometers along a wide stretch of its Pacific coast from Hokkaido in north of Hakayyama in the south. The meteorological agency had warned that tsunami waves could reach up to 3 m high. Tokyo Electric Power Company. The company which operates the Fukushima Daichi nuclear power plant has said that all workers have been evacuated, adding that there were no uh abnormalities reported so far. Remember viewers, the power plant suffered a nuclear meltdown in 2011 following a huge earthquake and tsunami disaster. Meanwhile, Japan’s Prime Minister Ishiba has said that a task force is in plan and in place to assess the situation reiterating warnings for those in the affected areas. My colleague Adita joins us on the broadcast to give us more on this. Adita, now of course a statement being issued by the Japanese prime minister as well. Evacuation alert has been issued across Hokkaido to Wakayyama. What more can you tell us? Evacuation warnings now span hundreds of kilometers along a wide swat of its Pacific coast from Hokkaido in the north to Wakayama perfeure in the south. Uh you and the meteorological agency had warned that tsunami wave would reach up to 3 m high. So you know the the Japanese authorities are taking are taking all steps to ensure the safety of their people at this juncture. these massive evacuation operations are undergoing in Japan and uh you know I mean at at this juncture it has created an unprecedented situation for uh Japan because the earthquake uh hit the uh the in in Russia and you know the tsunami alert is now been sounded for Japan Alaska and Hawaii. So at this juncture uh the Japanese authorities are in full swing to ensure that uh uh that that nothing un toward incident happens and as a precautionary measures uh these evacuation strategies are being taken place so that there is minimal damage to human lives as at this juncture.
