Furano Watercolor Postcard: Experience Hokkaido’s Freedom and Romance!
Farm Tomita was established in 1903 by Tomita Yoshikazu, who initially focused on growing barley and other crops. In the 1950s, the farm began cultivating lavender, which would eventually become its signature flower. The beautiful lavender fields became increasingly popular, attracting visitors from all over Japan. By the 1970s, Farm Tomita had expanded its flower cultivation to include various other flowers, including poppies, sunflowers, and cosmos, creating a vibrant and colorful landscape. Today, it is one of Hokkaido’s most famous flower farms, drawing thousands of tourists each year who come to enjoy the breathtaking views of the flower fields against the backdrop of the majestic Tokachi Mountains. The farm is especially renowned for its lavender, which blooms from late June to early August, and hosts various seasonal events and activities, including lavender harvesting and flower workshops. Farm Tomita continues to promote local agriculture while providing a unique experience for visitors to appreciate the natural beauty of Furano.
