Tomasz Wiktorowski has already been in a coaching box watching Naomi Osaka before.
Osaka has recently split from Patrick Mouratoglou, with the pair working with each other for less than a year.
This announcement from the former world number one came after the Washington Open, where Osaka was left confused following her defeat to Emma Raducanu.
There has been a lot of speculation about who will coach Osaka next, with it being announced that Wiktorowski will be joining her at the Canadian Open for a trial.
While Wiktorowski has never coached Osaka before, he did make comments about her match against Iga Swiatek at Roland Garros in 2024.

Wiktorowski coached Swiatek until October last year, after enjoying three years of great success together.
One of those great successes came at Roland Garros in 2024, but that was nearly not the case after Swiatek suffered a big scare.
In the second round of Roland Garros that year, Swiatek saved a match point to beat Osaka in a thrilling match on Court Philippe-Chatrier.
Swiatek did not drop a single set after that match, with Osaka providing the biggest threat to her at the Paris major in 2024.
After helping her win Roland Garros once again, Wiktorowski told Eurosport at the time that he thinks the match against Osaka gave Swiatek some perspective.
“It’s been an incredible journey for us,” Wiktorowski said in May 2024. “Three two-week tournaments in seven weeks plus Stuttgart, I was like, ‘Wow, we’ve been given a crazy plan,’ but we knew somebody did it before us, so we knew that it was possible. I’m super proud of all my team and Iga especially.
“I’m not sure if [the Osaka match] helped, but it gave some perspective that it was not going to be easy. She passed through the match, defended the match point, and she made it.
“It gave some confidence and some perspective to us that we need to do something a bit more because that was the second round and that was a super tight and tough match. Maybe it helped, maybe not. I’m just happy that we’re here today. That was a big match, that’s for sure.”

Wiktorowski has a proven track record as a coach, highlighted by his four Grand Slam title victories with Swiatek in just three years.
This success enabled Wiktorowski to win the WTA Coach of the Year Award in 2023.
He spent even longer with another Polish player in Agnieszka Radwanska, seven years in total, helping her win the WTA Finals and reach the Wimbledon final during his tenure.
In total, Wiktorowski has won a combined 35 titles as a coach on the WTA Tour.

Osaka will not be his first experience coaching a non-Polish player, as he also had a brief period with Serbian player Olga Danilovic between 2019 and 2020.
They are beginning their trial together at the Canadian Open in Montreal, where Osaka won her first round match against Ariana Arsenault.
This is a complete swap for Osaka and Swiatek, who is now coached by Wim Fissette.
