Morning in Kyoto BIRTHDAY stream!
Oh, goas everyone. Welcome to Kyoto on my birthday. Um, I woke up nice and early. I love to seize the day on my birthday and um I thought why not um do a little stream. So, I’m actually sort of near Nishiki Market area at the moment. I hope you can hear me. I have the microphone on and I hope everything is running smoothly as it should. But um gonna walk to Gillon. Hey birthday boy. Thank you to Chiban. Um I’m gonna walk to Gillon. My aim today is actually to go to Arashyama um area. That’s actually my aim for the day. But um I’m doing a super detour because I thought that uh stream in um Guan area is probably going to be much prettier than these streets. So we’re going to get there at some point. in the next half an hour, I’m guessing. Um, so let’s turn things around. It’s currently like 6:30 in the morning here in Hey, happy birthday, Nathan. Thank you, Daniel. You can hear the cicas. Cicadas. Ticadas. Wait a minute. Have I got lost already? [Music] We’ll see. So, it’s going to be a little bit of a a cool, tranquil, true, nice stream for the morning in Kyoto. And I already feel like I’m going the wrong way. We did Lego last last time. Let me see. Thank you. I’m just going to check the map a little bit. Okay. I just I don’t want to be walking the wrong direction. Okay. I am walking in the right direction. It’s all good. Hey, thank you so much. Thank you so much. Happy birthday to me. Happy birthday to me. Happy birthday, Nia. Happy birthday, dear ninja. Happy birthday to me. I’m um not used to singing happy birthday to myself, but I appreciate your support. Thank you so much. Let’s turn things around. Connection’s great here right now. Beautiful. Actually, I’m really digging this area. It’s about 8 minutes walk from um from the closest station like subway station. The bus service is pretty good. And at the moment, I haven’t encountered any like mass tourism, but I haven’t been to any major tourist sites yet. Actually, they went to um the Yaka shrine and that was kind of rather busy, but it wasn’t overly busy either. I guess that um that’s might be a cheat code to come to Kyoto is come in the summer when people don’t want to be out in the sun. Thank you there. Thank you, Alder. Thank you so much. Wow, Teramashi is really cool, huh? This um Chen guy. So, I’m as you can see, I’m literally 3 minutes away from from Terramati, which is very convenient. Thank you, G. I’m just going to check my Well, let’s let’s let me show you what a sleepy like teramachi looks like. First of all, nothing going on. Nothing open right now. I guess uh like the the trash rubbish people are getting here ready. If it freezes, it’s only because I’m checking the maps. [Music] Check out this dude over here. Kind of uh interesting little sculpture there. Oh, look. Gigo. Geigo. How do you say Gigo or Geigo or Jigo? some more. Hey, Cookie, thank you so much. Happy birthday to Everybody donate, I’ll sing happy birthday to myself. Happy birthday to me. Oh, and also Jim. So, I voted twice. Happy birthday, dear Ninja Su. Happy birthday to me. Happy birthday to me. Happy birthday to me. [Music] But happy birthday to me. Thank you, Jim. Let’s see. Let’s read what it says here. Happy birthday, co. Thank you. And Jim says, they say it’s your birthday as Japan declared um a national holiday for the packing guy, especially since the ninja monkey guy is lost somewhere in Nepon. So, the least I could do is in a little bit to have a wee damn beer. I’m going to be meeting a little al also later on. So, um that’s going to be fun. I’m looking forward. By the way, check it out. Little public um toilet. I love how some of these random little, you know, public toilets. They’re kind of cute. Can a toilet be cute? But you know what I mean. I like this little street actually. Wow. Windy street. A lovely street here on my grave. Thank you so much, dude. Happy birthday, Nathan. Enjoy some nice fresh coffee. 100%. You know what I’m like with coffee. Did I sh Did I not shave properly this morning? A toast, a donut, or whatever you fancy on your birthday. Happy birthday to me. Happy birthday to me. Happy birthday, Ninja Su. Yay. Happy birthday to me. I’ll I’ll probably be streaming maybe later with Happy Gin um with Little cuz Little is a fun guy to be to stream with. So, I’m not going to lie, Little is a really fun person to be with. So, I am looking forward. Actually, today, unfortunately, I was supposed to be meeting another crater, but they’ve hurt their back and I won’t be able to meet them during the day. So, I’m staying with my plans. Um, and it doesn’t matter. Bowling amusement space. Ooh, I like these I like these streets. I’m not going to lie. I know they’re empty right now, but I do like these streets. And I’m just going to check the map. So, it’s going to go a little bit quiet for a minute. Just be aware. Keep going. Let’s see what we discover. I think in about 5 or 10 minutes time, I will be getting myself a coffee from a vending machine cuz Yes. But I just realized that I’ve left my sack. Sack. It’s not even a bag. And it’s a sack of coins in the room because last night I met up with some friends from Gibralta in Kyoto and I changed bags and I haven’t I forgot. Hey, thank you Japan Japan Japan for sharing. Just want to make sure that I’m not pointing at anybody. Oh, look at this. Do you think this is somebody’s home? Isn’t that pretty? Bloody hell. That’s like a proper anime. Like proper anime entrance, right? Don’t you think? Super. I love Kyoto, guys. Kyoto. Uh, you know, I think there’s more to keep you entertained in Tokyo, but Kyoto is awesome for like you feel like you’re in an anime some you turn turn the corner and you find things like that. Hey John, thank you so much for your support. Happy birthday to me. Happy birthday Otanobi. Let’s change it. ninja. Is that how they sing it in Japanese? I don’t know. This one, you can’t see through it, but you can see that it’s pretty epic. Also, thank you, Mark G. I’m feeling the love, guys. I’m not going to lie, I am feeling the love. I appreciate all of your support. So, Angelifer, happy birthday. Thank you so much. Happy birthday to me. Ojo, happy birthday. Dear Jasu, happy birthday to me. Thanks, Jen. How you doing? You know, usually I organize my birthday in Tokyo so I can hang out with more friends. And this time around, I chose Kyoto and I was going to be on my own. However, um, Little happens to be here. So, this evening I’m going to have a few drinks with Little. So, it’s been like a a nice surprise. the street is just lined with tiny little whatever they are houses temples. I learned in Miaima that some of these sort of locations they are where the temple um workers um live in Miaima anyway. Ah shogi temple. Thank you so much Japan Juban. You’re more feel more than welcome to um pin any maps that are like of interest, you know, like to people, any specific spots. I know you like doing that, you geo wizards. Ooh, it’s Kyoto feels so different in the in the morning. I could have gone for the shortening guy actually, but I think this is far more interesting. It would have been cooler. Actually, it’s shady right now. So, I had an idea for a feature for Google Maps, which would be awesome. I was thinking about it like yesterday. Wouldn’t it be cool if there was an option in Google Maps to route you via the shadiest route? That would be so freaking cool cuz Kyoto and well Japan in the summer, you know, like you live from from shade or from shadow to shadow or from shade to shade. And now nowadays with um you know I I’m sure they can figure it out. So a little bit of drinks with Nathan 100%. Oh, this family m looks pretty iconic actually just there at the end of the street. Thank you, Japan Japan. For those of you who are interested where I am, you can get a sense. I’ve been trying to figure out how to get like a little map on the side, but I have no idea. I have not figured it out. These um orange uh machines are so m they’ve really exploded exploded in the last few years here in Japan. This would be a great photo. You’re right. Feel free to take a screenshot. Wow. I’ve put all my gear in my bag for later. Do I have a favorite comini? You know, maybe Family or 7-Eleven are tied. I don’t I mean, my favorite conveni is the one that’s closest to be honest. Shady is true. Shady could be bad area. That would be a really bad mistake. Hey Google, can you take me to the shady like area? Direct me via the shady area. Oh boy. Let me just check the maps very quickly. It’s going to freeze for a second. All right. Uh Takashima is here. I know exactly where we are now. I’m pretty sure anybody who’s been to um Kyoto before has a very good idea where I am right now. We’re walking to um the shrine at the end. There’s a very interesting upper hotel also on the right hand side at the end which um has pretty nice views of of um of the area if you get a nice room and it has a pretty cool beer hole at the top. family feels more Japanese. I maybe Yeah, I guess it depends where you’re from because we don’t have we’ve never had any 7-Elevens in Gibraltar. So you could say that this is uh like the main shopping street in Kyoto leading to Gon which is at the end. Yeah. Not too far from Pontto. Maybe if we if I don’t overshoot it, which I do many times, I’ll go in. I’ll go in. We can explore. But we’re here to explore together. What a great way to start my birthday in Kyoto in a beautiful city with you beautiful people. Oh, the guy on the right looks kind of shady. Shady was a word I was going to use. Somebody added that word to the chat. Now I can’t get it on my head. Yeah, this is store across the street. The food mall was worth it as well. Well, last night, last night I took my friends to to Kosoku for the very first time. They’re from Djibout. Actually, one of them is my work colleague and um so they’ve been, you know, doing all the touristy things all day and they’re staying like on the other side of the station. So, I just said, “Look, let’s meet in the station.” I gave them a tour of the escalators going up. Um you know, they had no idea that was there and they were like, “Wow, my god.” you know, the station is amazing. I also took them to um to Tori Ko, which was just around the corner from the station, and it was a really good way to have like five of us um eat together. It was easy. Doesn’t matter what they call them. Kini are a Japanese and Asian thing. That is true. I mean there is a no such similar thing where I live anyway. Look at the dog. Hey, thank you so much, Frank. It’s already slightly humid. It’s already a little bit warm. Let’s go to the left. Let’s see what the connection is like. We have somebody about to take a picture or running running. [Music] This dude here taking pictures. I don’t want to spoil it. I know what it’s like. [Music] thinking of doing a trip in September, December last year was a little too hot. It’s definitely an interesting time, right? I’m going to keep an eye on my connection here because this um traditionally always gives me problems. Hey, thank you so much for your birthday. Wish you a cigar there. [Music] It’s weird to be here. Pontto Cho kebab. What a weird thing to have here. Um, it’s it’s weird to be here in such a quiet quiet street with no one. I accept the food is definitely better in combini but I don’t combini convenience store corner store super Asian or Japanese. Wow. You know what? It’s really weird. I kind of prefer this location when there’s a few more people around. This guy’s starting to open. Maybe sushi or getting things ready. Oh, cleaning cleaning cleaning cleaning. This is pretty pretty. Um Jamie, you know what? It’s definitely not jet lag. I think that because I have been um because I have been sort of getting up early every day and my body sort of got into that, you know, got used to it now. You can tell I don’t know is it is the is the um text the right way round or is it the wrong way round? But you can definitely tell that this is more of a touristy area. you start seeing a few more like English um signs. Um sake and soda, Japanese sake, perfect for enjoying casually with s. You see, it’s always more interesting. Let’s have a look at the view over here. Oh my god, the sun is like pounding down and it’s like what’s the time right now? It’s like 700 a.m. Japan time. Sake and soda. Love those blinds. Very Japan, huh? I am in Japan after all, right? What a lovely street. I’m not going to lie. I mean, totally understand why people come here. Thank you there, Pablo. Yeah, that’s exactly it, Lum. Great. One of those. Um, I can’t remember what they’re called. I remember trying to go in there once and losing connection. So, I’m not going to do that this time. Let’s carry on. Let’s check some of the foods that they have here. Japanese beef, pork, yoza. Those yozes look good. Bit on the pricey side for for Japan, you know, but I guess it is what it is. It is what we are. Sacrilege indeed. Sake and soda. Although there are plenty of like um cocktails that are sake based now becoming more and more popular. This usually means that they sell like um alcohol. That’s what usually what it means. Will, I know what you mean cuz when I watch other other videos, I mean, I do exactly the same thing. Check it out. Let’s do a little quick zoom in. Another quickly zoom in and you sort of get the sense of the location. Seed the balls. I can hear movement. I hadn’t realized how long this street was because normally this is packed with people. So, wow, guys. Love it. I’m glad I came out came out nice and early. Jazz and whiskey. Hello Dolly. Hello Dolly. Sounds like a escort club. Oh yeah. A lot of these places you need to go up the stairs, you know, like not everything is at ground level. And obviously there’s lots of um thing, you know, little alleyways and stuff to explore. And now we start getting it’s just coming up to 7:02 in the morning here in Japan time. And um yeah, and you can start seeing some tourists in the background. Well, I don’t want to generalize, but I’m guessing that the tourists cuz what other crazy person would be doing this? I know, right, Josh? So nice to have lots of nooks and crannies. Even my wife couldn’t resist saying that we have been there when she walks by. Cool. We’ve been there. We know that place. And you know what’s even cooler? When you watch a video and it’s inside a restaurant or a hotel and you’re like, “That looks familiar. That looks familiar.” And you know exactly where it is. Oh yeah, there is a the there is a guy that plays a guitar. You’re so right. I forgotten about that. some um very Kyotoesque things. Hey, thank you how. Thank you everyone for your birthday support, your um super chats and just saying happy birthday and hanging out with me at 700 a.m. Japan time here in Kyoto. Come on. Amazing. Thank you. Oo, maybe coffee time. We have the same birthday, but I celebrate. Oh, your birthday’s on 26th, Jeff. It’s true. 21 again. I I got to tell you something. Huh? Um, how old was I? I I totally super appreciate that sentiment. However, I’m not going to lie, but I do not feel 21 in on this trip. Right. Maybe I can get a coffee. I want a lot of school. I hope you had a great one. Well, it’s still 7:00 a.m. So, I have the the day ahead of me. So, I will have a great one. I think uh I’m not sure I am a big fan of any of these coffees. So, I’m just going to carry on walking. There’s going to be some some other um vending machine. Oh, this this is beautiful. Look at that tree there. So freaking pretty. Oh, let’s get move forward to get rid of the yellow now. And then if we do a little bit of a pan this way with the with the lantern. Let’s be all like super like like arty farty. Oh, thank you DJI. Hit smash and like. Yeah, please press like, guys. Oh, this is a nice place to run by. Look at the dog. Wow. First sights of tourists. First sights of tourists, guys. Well, I’m guessing my eyesight’s a bit tired in the morning. Very nice. It’s a typical, you know, like look at each other and do you say something, do you not say something situation? Oh yeah, please share your stream this stream on the socials. How’s Thank you so much. Happy birthday to me. Happy birthday to me. Happy birthday, Ninja Su. Happy birthday, Ninja Su. Thanks. Super beautiful. I mean, right now there is no one. Well, there’s like seven people. Um, and I know a lot of people, you know, say Kyoto is crowded, but wouldn’t you come to this place? Wouldn’t you want to see this beautiful view? Of course, it’s going to get crowded. And I’m just demonstrating to you that just getting up 2 hours earlier, getting out and going for a little stroll is it’s a way to do it in C for for places that are like open open air like this, you know, that don’t require an entrance fee. Maybe 7:00 a.m. is just a tad too early cuz it’s kind of nice to have a few people here. But believe in yourself. Thank you so much. And Eric, thanks so much. Mornings are the best. I I agree with you. Mornings are fantastic. Oh, there’s a double. Oh, this looks a bit dangerous. Like danger, danger, danger, danger. Ooh. Okay, I like this one. Oo, [Music] hold on, guys. My gimbal is out of alignment and I’m going to align it up. Just give me a second. [Music] There we go. [Music] Is it too heavy? Too heavy on that side. All right, let’s see. That’s better. Just um over overdoing it. Um I’m going to have a craft boss. Although maybe this one I’m going to have in a can cuz it’s just going to be uh or maybe in a in a What do you think? Bottle or can, guys? Bottles or can? I felt drunk for a minute. The gimbal was drunk. It’s surprisingly hot and it was totally unbalanced. So, it was overworking. So, Ah, come on. Wait a minute. It is too heavy. I need to push it this way. I totally Ah, hold on a second, guys. Let me Let me just push it a little bit more this way cuz I am not the balance king. And I appreciate your your patience. Well, guys, it’s Wait a minute. How do I do it? It’s too heavy. I’m trying to do maths here, guys. I’m trying to do maths. I’m trying to figure out like which way do we do do I put the the thing if I need more? It’s going to be heavier. To the right, to the left. Let’s see. Okay, maybe that will do it. Um, so what was it? Cans or was it bottle or can bottle? Gimbal says no. Nathan keeps steeping in the No, no, no. Ah. They’re too heavy. I don’t I had it right the other day. Let’s see. I’ve changed it. Um, the Boss ones aren’t too bad, but they don’t taste like coffee. They taste like like a version of coffee that is just weird. But I don’t mind. I’m going to get a can and I’m going to drink it here before we carry on. All right, let’s do this. Cafe O can cold. And wait a minute. How do I pay for this? Okay. Touch the thing. Press the thing. It doesn’t want to work. Let’s carry on. I’m not going to waste time. I’ll get another. People are not going to have a lot of patience. Happy birthday, Ninja. Thank you, school of alchemy. Thank you so much. Ah, my phone is not having a lot of patience today. Come on. I’ve been streaming in much hotter conditions like the last couple of days. It’s like 8 a.m. It’s not that hot. But maybe because I What on earth is going on? Denied. It doesn’t want to. It’s out of balance that way. Ah, [Applause] well, just when I was thinking what a great stream I’m having. Well, just when I was thinking, what a great stream. This is Ponto in Kyoto. Perhaps all I need to do is um give the gimbal. Oh, there’s a cat there. I don’t want to point. But she’s playing with a cat. I will point cuz you can’t really see the person. Can you see the person playing with the cat? Cute. Can’t really see the face of the person. So, we got to the end here. Quo. going to walk along the river um back to towards um Gon. Um I think Tokyo, oh better better said Japan made me a fan of um of ice latte, ice coffee. I was not a fan of iced coffee before. Let’s walk via I think it is going to be prettier. Walk via the little river here back onto the main road. And you can start seeing slowly more and more people start to appear. It’s only been like half an hour, 40 minutes or so. And um you can definitely feel the city is more awake. It’s kind of weird how in half an hour like the city is far more awake. Still sleepy but more awake. I believe this area might be like the club area. I’ve always seen like um a lot of young people coming out of places at this time. Well, at least the signal’s been steady the whole stream, even through Poto, which normally, if you’ve ever tried to see one of my streams in Poor Cho, you’ll know that that I always fail. So, Tommy Tran, thank you so much, Tommy. Happy birthday to me Otanjo Oi. Happy birthday ninjasaru. Happy birthday ninjas. Thanks for your support dude. Much appreciated. I mean last case scenario I just um go to a convenini. I’m not in a super rush for a coffee. Might make me want to go to the toilet and that would spoil the stream. [Music] Does anybody here have any like favorite Oh, look. Too. Um, does anybody here have any favorite Japanese coffee chains? like you can say Starbucks also they’re sort of different to the west. Um any favorite Japanese coffee chains that you drop into? My favorite one has become Doto. Oh, actually I’m saying it wrong. It’s doto do. I was corrected the other day. It’s doto. Hey, snap. Yay. I like do too. I’ve been calling it doto forever. And then Oriental Pearl says to me, “Eh, that’s not called doto. It’s called doto.” I’m like, “Okay, you don’t drink coffee.” Well, but maybe some of those chains have great like other specialty stuff, not just coffee. teas and they have like special lemonades and stuff like that. These love their iced it disappeared for a minute. Love their iced long black on a hot day. Oo, I like local place. Yeah. Yeah, local places are great. I like any coffee shop open early. Yes. I become a little bit obsessed and I’m trying to like only have like one or two a week at this point cuz it’s just But I’ve become obsessed with the Doto um Mont Blanc. They’re so yummy. So so yummy. It’s a like a cake made of chestnut. By the way, I’m queen, not a coffee. And around here, if I remember right, there’s a very nice Hamburg um store that I’ve been to before, which I totally recommend. [Music] Yeah, you can matcha also. In fact, um I’ve been having a lot more matcha this trip. Every time I come to Japan, I’m I’m um you know, sometimes I’ve overied myself, if that’s such a thing, and I then move on to matcha. I want to cross over just so that we can have a look at some of these establishments here. Um that sick. Yay. Birthday monkey indeed. There’s a coffee place that I went to yesterday called 2050 Coffee. I don’t know if you’ve heard of it before. He encoura 2050 coffee. And um I interviewed two of the workers, one in one Japanese worker and a um that black bird freaking scared the hell out of me, man. One Japanese person and one um person from Ukraine that works there. One of the things I’ve been trying to do on this trip is if I if I encounter an interesting person, um, I try to, you know, like ask them a question and maybe do a little short or whatever. Thank you, Mr. Yeah. a Ukrainian barista working in um working in as a barrista basically in Kyoto. This is so pretty. Wow. So freaking pretty. [Music] So early. [Music] Some places are early. Open early. [Music] It is very hot. Yeah, pretty much in that area. Bangal, it’s what’s the time now? 20 7 a.m. And it feels bloody hot. Is it just south? Bloody ho. Actually, in the shade it’s bearable. Actually, in the shade it’s okay. In the shade it’s okay. Um, Kyoto is a it’s a prefixure and within Kyoto there’s Kyoto city which is where I am right now. That’s a good question. And it’s important to also like sort of like um specify cuz Kyoto prefecture is huge. Northern Kyoto is beautiful. The prefecture, you know. Thank you, Mark. Thank you. Oh, what an adventure this stream has been. I’m loving it. Like, it’s it’s been an early stream, but we’ve already covered a lot of ground. [Music] Hi there, Bojo. Back in the house. You can see the shrine in the very very very background. If you just squint a little bit. [Music] Oh, it’s so bright here. Right now, this is where we started. Ponto street. We’ve done a full loop. It’s so bright right now that I can’t actually read any of the um chat. So, just bear with me a minute. I’ll get to the shade in a second. And I’ll probably put my hat on at some point in the next few minutes. I’m not a big fan of wearing a hat, but I’m also not a big fan of getting heat stroke. So, I like like different hats, not baseball hats. [Music] I’m going to cross and then cross that way. [Music] Yeah, I did Pontto Cho. Um, it was super quiet. It was lovely actually. It was eerily weird to be in Pontto Cho with no one, but it was nice. Very nice. Oh, this way. I need to go under. I didn’t want to go under. Okay, I made a mistake. I’m going to go back. Mistakes happen, dudes. Mistakes happen, guys. This makes me feel old. Went to the uni there in 93. Very little has changed. Well, I guess that’s good. Very little has changed. It’s good. It’s a good thing. Sometimes um in the evenings they’ll have like little market stalls here also selling like little like touristy things or like um artisan people that create their own things. I’ve got a feeling now that it’s like 7:30 we’ll start seeing a few more tourists appear which isn’t a bad thing. I think that um sometimes places without people just feel weird. Oh, you’re I’m 50 m away from the rooftop bar. Really? Is it that one there? [Music] Cuz there’s a rooftop bar at the top of the Upper Hotel, which is pretty good. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That um that’s partly where I’m going to go. Just like a shrine eventually. I was there yesterday. Oh, it’s the other side. So, that one there. Oh. Oh, the other side. Okay. Oh, overlooks a theater. Oh, on that side [Music] and the sun. [Music] [Music] just up ahead, right? [Music] I think it’s too bright to even light point up, but [Music] Oh, hi everybody. [Music] Yeah, I know. I know how to get to the shrine straight on. It’s pretty cool. Maybe we’ll go there first and then we’ll we’ll head to the right. So basically it’s down here and it’s um somewhere around ah up there right. I’m guessing I’m guessing it’s up there. Nagasaki is lovely. No. Well, I’m going to carry on walking straight up. Pin it. Pin it. Pin it in the chat, you know. Ah, the right. Ah, on the right. I understand. Thank you, Nico. Thank you. Just um pin it and send me a message with a pin also at some point. to finally reach 30. But let me just say I don’t feel 30. I feel older. [Music] Wow. The space looks brand new here. So, um I’m just going to talking about rooftop bars. This is a really interesting one because up there and I know where I’m pointing at. Can you see there the the rooftop bar there in the corn in the top? That rooftop part um is actually a beer garden which belongs to the upper hotel which I’ve stayed in in the past. Um the upper hotel is a bit dated but the rooftop is pretty epic. I’m not going to lie. Hey, thank you so much. Happy birthday to me. Happy birthday ninja monkey. Happy birthday in Kyoto. Happy birthday. Happy birthday. Thank you. What did Jim say? I missed something. Was that Retro Japan in in the boarding? I don’t think I got it. Even I agree with Jim. I didn’t get it. Sorry. I think sometimes there’s just a little bit of enough lag in the chat to miss things. Just sometimes, you know, it’s um it is hot. I’m not going to lie. It’s hot and um it’s hot, but in the shade, walking in the shade is absolutely fine. Absolutely fine. I don’t even know what the temperature is. Maybe somebody could look up the temperature in Kyodo right now or tell me. Thank you so much. Birthday beer Kashm. I’m singing happy birthday every single time something donate. So happy birthday to me. It’s really weird to sing to myself, but hey, happy birthday to me. Happy birthday, Nia. Dear ninja monkey guy, happy birthday to me. Thank you so much. And we’ll walk this way later after the shrine. We’ll come down to the street. Shrine first, street second. Tally’s coffee isn’t open yet. Opens at 8:30. What are you doing today for your birthday? Are you going to eat somewhere? Actually, um I was supposed to meet another content creator this morning at 9:00, but they they’ve unfortunately hurt their back and um they cancelled. Well, I think they’ve canceled on me. They said, “I’ll let you know, but they haven’t let me know.” So, I’m assuming that it’s not going on going ahead. It was supposed to be at 9:00 at 7:30. So, I’ll wait till till 8 or 8:30 or something before um I know for sure. But then, um, I’m going to go to Arashyama. I’m filming a little bit of a video in in Arashyama. Um, that was my original plan to go there with this person. And I’m just going to carry on with my plans by myself. And then this evening, I’m actually going to meet up with Little. A little bit of of um of Japan is his channel. Check it out. A little bit of life. A little bit of life. That’s it. A little bit of life. um and or oh or or a little bit of Japan or whatever. And um I’m going to meet up with him. He is working. He’s working here. He finishes at 8:00. I’ll be having dinner and he’ll have be having dinner separate. We’ll be having dinner separately because he finishes a little bit late. But we’ll be having some drinks and we will have it be having some um some snacks also, you know, just not a full on dinner. What stream will I be what time will I be streaming later? It’s 1:34 a.m. So, I probably should sleep. I’m not very sure. I think the stream this evening will be more spontaneous. And I’m guessing it will be around 9:30 time, maybe 10:00 p.m. time. 9:30 time, 9:00 p.m. time, Japan time. That’s from that time. I’ve said the word time too many times. That was weird. Yeah, back pain isn’t fun. I get it. It’s okay. So, yeah, this is the upper hotel. It’s a Kyoto Gillion. Um, excellent hotel. I’m not going to lie, the rooms are very dated, or they were very dated last time I stayed, I think last year or the year before. Um, however, the rooftop terrace has views into the shrine, has views into the street below, depending what side you go to. And um, it’s a beer garden. They do nomi nomi hoai and everything. Nomi like or you could drink and to get to it you just grab the the elevator the lifts. Hello Lonnie. How you doing? Doing good here. Just approaching the shrine. Approaching the shrine. I need this. I don’t understand this works. Uh you need to download the freaking app for it to work. Me stupid. No, I ain’t. That’s why it wasn’t working before. It isn’t a speaker thing. It’s a an app thing. Nearly stayed there. I mean, location wise, it’s okay. There’s a a train station not too far, you know, maybe 7 minutes walk. You got Guillion, you got the shrine. Also, this sort of tells you the type of tourists that come here. We have welcome, we have Korean, and we have Spanish. So, I think I’ve seen a few Spanish signs here and there, I guess. Um, maybe in terms of tourism, Spanish speakers are more prominent in this part of Japan. Hiroshima was full of French French. Miaima was full of French people, I swear. Will I make the green man? Oh, I won’t make it and I’m not going to run. [Music] Where’s Kyoto Sizuya? Tempting. Check out this little entrance here. Go find a palm reader. That’s one thing that I don’t do. I like to leave the the future in the hands of uncertainty. Weird, huh? Uncertainty is a beautiful thing sometimes, but I appreciate the the tip. Let’s go to the shades. So going to cross here. By the way, if anybody is interested in like um matcha tea ceremony sort of thing on the left over there in that sort of general area, there’s quite a few that you’ll um find. We’re going to go up to the shrine, which is very pretty, very beautiful. Then we’re going to head down um and we’re going to walk through the the area back there. Thank you, Lanni. Thank you. There are vending machines in the shrine. Also might be a if I find a shady place in the shady place in the shrine, I might stop for a minute and sit down. Yeah, you could direct me to all the different little places you think I should go up here in the shrine. [Music] This is shady now. Vending machine. Vending machine. Mini machine. Actually, the view from through the gate is much nicer. It feels hot. It’s okay in the shade, though. I mean right now this place is empty [Music] [Music] shrines and temples like this are open for 24 Um, not temple shrines. Shrines are mostly open 24 hours. Mostly temples close, but they’re both usually most of the time free to enjoy. Um, in the summer and during some special occasions, there’ll be some um food stores here. It is at night is very beautiful. Actually, yesterday there were some food stalls lining the road. So, I’m guessing that they set up during the day or maybe the event has ended. I’m not very sure. Right. Just one second, guys. I’m going to actually put my hat on cuz I see that there’s a lot of sun and not a lot of shade. All right. Do you mind if I share my photo with you? Of course you share whatever you need, dude. Yeah, whatever you need. Hat time. Interesting fact I have a tiny head. My head is small. Tiny head. Okay, I feel a little bit more protected now. Chapter Right. Beautiful. I’m hoping that the audio has been pretty good with a microphone on. I am not going to lie, I’m loving this little microphone. It’s really easy to set up. The only issue is obviously the trying to um trying to balance my gimbal, which I’m if you’ve been watching, I’m still sort of getting to grips with never gets old. Sound has been great. And also I think apart from the little drunken moment, the connection’s been pretty good. Oh, check it out, guys. Getting the shrine ready. Sets the mood. Super beautiful. Very nice indeed. The vending machines are calling me. Let’s do a quick circle around before. What’s that? Smoke, incense, water, rain. Oh, it’s steam. It’s um mist. I could use some mist. Maybe my camera won’t appreciate it. It doesn’t make much of a difference, guys. Hey, I’m always answering Japan questions. Always. It really is beautiful. I’d have to get a link for mine, but at night with the lanterns reflecting of the wet stones. Loved it. Agree. Oh, one of your favorite random places is here. Cool. Hey, Misha, thank you so much for your birthday wishes. Oh, must have been wonderful. Japan, Japan, Japan. It sounds truly amazing. Oh, look. There’s a guide. A guide at 7 a.m. already guiding over there. A little group. Clever. Well done. You know exactly what you’re doing. Thank you, Will. My last day in Japan is on Christmas Day. Do you have any tips on where to spend my last day? staying on the main island. But where where exactly? The main island is huge. Um, if it’s Christmas Day and you want to do a Christmas thing, then your best bet is to actually arrange with a like an international hotel that will probably have like a Christmas menu or some kind of Christmas meal sort of um setup. That’s if you want to to do like a Christmas menu, you know. Or you could go to KFC. How about that? Do it Japanese style and then when you arrive home, do it, you know, western style. Okay, I’m going to see if I have any coins. I have I have a I should have a 1,000 yen note. And actually, I’m not a fan of black coffee in a can or in a bottle from a vending machine, but I am a fan of latte. And I do like black coffee like from a cafe. Iced cafe. I’m going to do this one, I think. Cafe. Um, cafe latte. Maybe this one. 180 yen. Right. Let’s see. Let me try and get myself sorted. Let me just turn things around. Thank you so much for your birthday breath. Follow the sun. I’m going to turn things around. And I’m going to just balance this here. I’m going to get my Is it balance here? You can hear me. I can’t read the the chat, but you should be able to hear me. Hello everyone. I’m just going into my bag to see if I do indeed have my sack of money, which I do not. You see, I do have my wallet. I do have a thousand yen, which means that I’m just going to end up with even more freaking coins. Boy, oh boy. Sometimes my bag weighs more because of coins and because of my equipment this way. Let’s go for the ice cuz it will lay over here. Something in the money [Music] float floating like this. To be honest, it’s a little bit of a interesting little pan. So, can’t hear you well when you aren’t near your phone. The mic must be on. We’ll check it now. Let me see. Ramples. Rample, right? I’m going to find out somehow somewhere where I can have this coffee. Let me just put this in my bag. I’ll open it elsewhere. [Music] I will come back to throw to throw the trash. I’ve got to be mindful of where I sit though in a tempo, you know. Ultimately, you got to remember that this is a, you know, a temple or a shrine and therefore use your common sense when you eat and when you drink. If I exit here, there’s a little park. There’s some benches. It’s kind of grand also. Maybe there’s a little ledge here. Oh, there is a ledge here. Perfect. Like I feel more comfortable um you know here than in the shrine. Let me see. Ooh. Hello everyone. Let me just clean the lens. It looks a little bit Let me show you what I got myself. And just going to have a tad little bit of a break here before heading into the Gon area. What a beautiful background. There is a seating area in the park, but and I’ve just found this area here. So, it’s a Georgia coffee. Sorry, there’s this this really weird bug. Okay, so there’s a Georgia coffee cafe Olay from the vending machine. 13 yen I think it was. Um, let’s see if you can hear me now. Jim Ross, thank you so much for your support by the way. I have to take off. I have tickets for Broadway across Canada. Awesome. The Lion King is so cool. The person who was supposed to go in me car broke down. Oh no. Well, enjoy it anyway. I’m having a great birthday so far. 7:30 in the morning, 8 in the morning. Enjoying every single second already as it is. Um, I’ve readjusted the microphone and hopefully you can hear me away from the phone. Let me know if you can. In retrospect, thinking back, I think the bottle is better. And much better. Okay. Okay, cool. I think the bottle is better because then I can close it and put it in my bag. This now is a commitment. Yeah, I want to buy a cake at some point today. I’m going to fall. This is just what I needed. Just what I needed. By the way, I just wanted to remind everyone who’s watching who’s planning to come to Japan that I am using Sakura mobile. The connection has been perfect. Um, if you want to support the channel, then you can use Sakura mobile affiliate link um to get your own like internet connection. Ah, you don’t have to. You can go with whoever you want. Just saying. Once I drink this, what time is it? Where are you watching from? When are you coming to Japan? And when’s your birthday? Actually, Georgia cafe. My bad. My bad. How much? How How big is it? You see? I can’t seem to see the size. fitness journey in Japan. Why do you want to call an ambulance? I’ll say it again. I had a mobile Wi-Fi from Sakuda and it works. Great. Great support. Great. Thank you, Sydney. Oh my goodness. Follow the sign is true. 31st of December. Wow. Chicago 6:00 p.m. Just got back. Planning to go May, June birthday, August the 5th. So close. So close. So close together. Thanks there for the link. Almost 6:00 p.m. Going to Japan late November. Nice one after midnight. Lani, thanks for watching. UK midnight. Not too bad. Not too bad. 7:00 p.m. Pittsburgh. Awesome. 8:57 a.m. So, some of you are having breakfast maybe with your own like non canned coffee or tea. You’ll be here in 3 days. Logan, cool. Birthday early June. I know. Germany 1:00 a.m. will be in Kyoto in October. Awesome. Wow. So many of you coming to Japan. It’s pretty cool. 400 p.m. in Arizona. 400 p.m. That’s like full on in the middle of the day, but in the past, right? This cafe instant with vanilla syrup in the middle. Nice. That sounds nice. Right, we’re going to head down to like the streets and I’m going to throw away back next year. Lanni says throw away the can. This is This has been a good pickme up for sure. What’s up, buddy? The humidity is starting to hit slightly. But today I want to slow down on my coffee because yesterday I just had too much coffee and my body was like, “No, no more coffee, dude. Right. When you know there’s a bin, just throw it where you know there’s a bin. Don’t a trash can. Don’t um like think, “Oh, there’ll be another one soon.” soon enough. [Applause] All right, Sydney 9:00 a.m. for an a bit week trip in October. Nice. Go one down under. Thank you. Sounds cool. Right, let’s go. I think the next bit of the trip will be in the next bit of the stream will be nice also. If I don’t um read the comments, it’s probably because it’s the glare is too bright, you know. It’s currently 8:01 in the morning, Japan time. I’m currently in Kyoto. Sama Kyoto Candy Kada, welcome to the chat. Yeah, it’s um definitely something summer in Japan in Kyoto. I found Hiroshima to be far worse to be honest. uh 2 days ago. But um I think that when it comes to summer in in Kyoto or in Japan, you need to actually plan your days properly, be strategic, walk in the shade, and listen to your body and make sure that you have plenty of little breaks. the amount of times that I have um you know felt oh my god my body’s overheating and I just gone into a shop just to do a little bit of window shopping you know like like browsing for like 5 minutes cools you down and it’s amazing how quickly you feel like a different person but you are right you need to have a strategy it is doable it’s better than thing. Yeah, there’s plenty of air conditioning in um many locations. So, every now and then just go into a store or sit down, have a hydration break. Very important. Get yourself a drink from somewhere. And um and your body really does totally you know, thank you. And you feel like a completely different person once the the red light turn things around. When I was um a few um days ago in a temple, it was so hot. However, I just um went into like the tea room, got myself a a drink and sat down for 10 minutes and it was lovely and I felt seriously I felt like a completely different person after. Felt really really nice. Yeah, umbrella’s pretty good. The only reason that I don’t have an umbrella is because I um can’t carry an umbrella and a camera and all that kind of thing. So like Spain and Australia, so you can stay out of the hottest part of the day. Yeah. Unfortunately, I feel like the hottest part of the day is all day when it comes to Japan, you know. Tokyo Kyoto in September. Oh my goodness. the the it’s the 26th of July and it’s crazy to think how quick the the year is, you know, it’s passing by. It’s way too quick. Yeah. In and out of air con. Tokyo in August was still 20 30° at night. Yes. All right, let’s turn things around and let’s cross over. I don’t quite understand the crossing of the cars. Right. I have the same birthday as your mom. Nice. Great birthday. Yeah. Happy birthday for the son’s mom. Mommy Sunny um these sort of like um like roofs ceiling sort of things in the streets um really make a huge difference in the summer. You know, I don’t think anybody would actually be out and doing any shopping shopping or walking about if it wasn’t for the for that for the covered walkways on the sides of the streets on the pavement. Apa Hotel, like I mentioned, stayed here before. Very dated, but actually great view of um the Guom Matsuri from the lobby. Starbucks coffee just here. very convenient for anybody staying in the hotel and you can start seeing people actually waking up. A lot more people now in the street. Starting to feel a little bit more normal now. I mean, it is now past 8 in the morning in Japan. So, Yeah, there are loads of um underground passages, especially around the Kyoto station. You’re so right. Let’s turn here, left here. Explore a little bit of this area. Um, very different in the morning with the cars and the trucks and the loading and the unloading that happens in preparation for the little restaurant and you know and all that stuff. Check it out. Some of these streets are definitely no photography on private roads. Going to keep up with the private roads. Just go straight. So empty. Just don’t go into the private um roads, you know, for anything. famous Kon Street. It’s very pretty. It’s very quiet right now, but it’s very pretty. Um they the ones that have the p the signs normally are the private roads where the signs are are usually the private roads. Right there it says private road. Do not enter. So you don’t go in there. Okay. Some of these museums are pretty cool, by the way. I’ve seen um a pretty cool few different exhibitions here in the past. Anyway, guys, I am going to end the stream here just because it’s been a fantastic stream and I’m going to sit down somewhere, not have a coffee, but I’m going to sit down in air conditioning for the next um 20 minutes or so and figure out how to get to my next location um and what I’m doing and all that. But I just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who has um supported me um with super chats and with a lot of love. I feel very very much loved and supported during today’s birthday stream. I super appreciate it guys. It’s been so much fun walking and getting lost in Kyoto together. Um and I think I’m just listening to my body. You know, one and a half hours is good. And um hopefully later I can do a little bit of a of another stream um maybe on Happy Gaun. So make sure that you’re subscribed and um check out all the notifications. Thanks everyone from this very beautiful Kyoto Gon. Here I am on my birthday. I’m going to really enjoy the rest of the day. Take care everyone. Stay positive. Be happy and see you soon. You can keep an eye on my updates maybe on Instagram. I’m trying to be a little bit more proactive on there, too. Bye.
there’s no better way to celebrate your birthday, then in Japan, especially in Kyoto!
