【KYOTO Summer trip】Hyatt Regency Kyoto/Matcha Afternoon Tea/Breakfast/Sightseeing spots
Hello! This time, we utilise Amex free stay gift, by staying at the Hyatt Regency Kyoto for one night and enjoying Kyoto. It’s an 8-minute drive from JR Kyoto Station, and there’s a free taxi transfer one way. Situated nearby are Sanjusangendo, Kyoto National Museum, Chishaku-in Temple, etc. Impressive lobby with ceilings and walls covered in Japanese-style patterns The interior was designed by a world-famous interior design firm Super Potato Mr Takashi Sugimoto Our room was a “Guest room twin” (28 m2). It was a standard type. It’s on the 4th floor. The bathroom is on the left, and the closet is on the right. And the room. The interior is decorated in soft colors, with kimono fabric decorations from the Edo to Taisho periods, and lighting made from washi paper add a Japanese touch. The view from the window was… a little bit of the garden, but not that great. It would be better to be closer to the lobby. This is what it looked like in the evening. From the window next to the bed, we could see Kyoto National Museum. Back in the room, there was a minibar, refrigerator, tableware, etc. neatly stocked by the desk. These are charged additional. Tea bags from brands like Lupicia were included. A Nespresso coffee maker and a DeLonghi kettle. The desk looks like this. There are plenty of power outlets and a universal adapter. There’s a Blu-ray player under the TV Let’s take a look at the bathroom area There are two bottles of mineral water In the drawer, there’s a Panasonic hair dryer and tissues A full set of amenities. The body lotion and soap are from PHARMACOPIA, a natural brand from Canada. There was no skin care set, but you can request if needed. There are other items you can request or borrow. There are also bathrobes and towels. Open the glass door to enter the bathroom. It is a spacious size. The flooring is granite. Shampoo etc are also Pharmacopia products. Behind the sink is a separate toilet. Opposite the bathroom is closet with large mirror. Inside is a safe. Pajamas and slippers are provided. On the first day, relax with afternoon tea at the restaurant “Touzan” on B1F I’ll have matcha afternoon tea (6,500 yen including tax and service). *Meals are not included in the free stay The garden is right in front rom the seats, and the tables are arranged in a spacious manner. The atmosphere is excellent Start with a welcome drink of matcha (thick tea) “The taste won’t change though,” staff said, but it was a fun presentation. The tea is from Ippodo Teahouse, a long-established tea shop in Kyoto founded in 1717. The main store in Teramachi Nijo has a charming gate,
and is especially beautiful when the hydrangeas bloom. The matcha tea stand is here
I ordered a Seki no Shiro (matcha) latte. Other free-flow teas available are kuki gyokuro (cold), green tea Hosen, and exquisite roasted green tea. Let’s take a look at the buffet corner Enjoying matcha sweets while looking at the garden is great I also enjoyed tea. Green Tea Hosen (hot), Gokujo Houjicha (hot) The cold Kuki gyokuro is delicious! Matcha and monaka were brought out towards the end It was a delicious and satisfying afternoon tea! Next, we strolled around the hotel. After climbing the beautiful spiral staircase on 1F there is an Italian restaurant called “Trattoria Sette” and a pastry boutique. there is a bright atmosphere with a view of greenery. Google 4.1. We didn’t eat here, but it looks good. There is another entrance facing the street. There are spa and gym in Annex. The gym is open 24 hours a day. It’s spacious and has a wide range of machines. The restaurant “Cafe 33” is on the first floor. It is open for breakfast, lunch, teatime, and dinner, and afternoon tea. For the afternoon tea schedules at Higashiyama and Cafe 33, please check their official websites. This was taken at night. Kumiko ceiling has a different color than during the day, creating a different atmosphere. Exterior with bamboo, typical of Kyoto, is lit up and looks nice. Breakfast is served at Cafe 33 on 1F. It is a half-buffet breakfast. When it gets hot, the blinds are lowered, but we can see the garden and greenery from the large windows. Let’s take a look at the buffet corner. Fruit, salad, Pancakes, bread pudding, potatoes, Vegetables, sausages, bacon, boiled eggs Porridge, miso soup, natto, pickles, etc. Cheese, smoked salmon, ham Cereal, Compote Yogurt, Yakult, probably chia seed pudding Croissants, baguettes, etc. Juice and iced coffee Egg dishes and Japanese breakfast set are brought to you when you order. I tried the Croque Madame The best thing about breakfast was the crispy croissant.
The bread pudding was also good. They also had coffee to go.
Thank you for the meal. Let’s go for a stroll Kyoto in summer. First, there is Sanjusangendo Hall right next to the hotel. The main hall, with its more than 1,000 Buddha statues, is a sight to behold In summer It is decorated with wind chimes and windmills. *Please check the official website for the period. Gion Festival is symbol of Kyoto Summer. In July, you can experience the festival atmosphere. This time, we went during the Ato Matsuri for the first time. Tofukuji Temple is crowded during the autumn foliage season, but you can enjoy it quietly in the summer. A famous spot for autumn leaves is also great for green leaves. The sea of green is also worth seeing. Honbo garden “Hasso no Niwa” designed by Mirei Shigemori is also worth seeing. I’d like to introduce some other summer recommendations that are close by, though we didn’t go these this time Kiyomizu-dera is a famous place that represents Kyoto. Of course, green maples are beautiful In the summer, wind chimes are also displayed. *Until July 31, 2025. Please check the official website for the schedule. It’s also good time to see beautiful Yasaka Pagoda with crepe myrtle. Shaved ice in summer! ShimizuIppoen is nearby. The fluffy shaved ice topped with matcha espuma is delicious. There are also plenty of other menu items, such as parfaits and drinks. These sweets have a rich and elegant matcha flavor. Suzaku Garden in Umekoji Park is close to Kyoto Station I don’t think there are many places where so many crape myrtles in bloom. When you want to cool off, go to the aquarium. The jellyfish section is fantastic. In the summer, they also have jellyfish wind chimes.
