What a Perfect Solo Day in Okinawa Looks Like
Going on a little adventure today. Should be pretty sick. Heat. Heat. Oh, okay. Oh my god. [Music] Woo! All right. right out here. Just had our uh bento. Then we’re taking turns jumping off the boat. It’s a lot of fun, man. Really glad I came out to do this. Wow. So beautiful. [Music] to do it, dude. Right. You’re okay. You’re okay. Awesome. I got Thank you. Okay. I got like a nice This is a Okinawan glass too. One of that yesterday from my friend. Used to only made here in Okinawa, but other places make it now. But traditional Okinawan class. [Music] days. Wow, this place is so cool. This is my hotel and ice cream shop. Ah, so cool. And they serve beer, too. Really, really nice family who lives here. I was going out last night pretty late. And the owner, she saw me going out. She’s like, “Are you going out?” I’m like, “Yeah.” I knew from the night before that they locked the door. Honestly, I was a little bit worried I’d get locked out. Um, but she just gave me a key to her house and said, “Just put it back over there whenever you get back.” Okay, this place is cool. [Music] So, it’s the same uh traditional Okinawan instrument that I uh got to play last night. Pretty cool. It’s made out of a ten can. Um, they’re playing some local Okinawan songs for kayok last night and a bunch of them featured that instrument. It’s pretty cool. It’s a like similar to a Chinese instrument cuz we’re so close to China. But this version is Okinawan. Pretty cool. It’s a local Okinawan nut. Tastes kind of like a peanut. very tasty like but much more light berry if that makes sense. Almost tastes like a like puffed like almost like a cocoa puff like texture. Really good. It’s spicy which is weird for Japan. Very strange and spicy. This is good though. Really good. All right. Hello again from Okinawa. Um, originally my plan was uh flying from Okinawa today in the evening uh and then going to Osaka and continue my trip uh through Japan. However, I left my cell phone in Tokyo um 4 days ago. It’s been sitting there the entire time at Narita airport and uh so I had to book a flight today to Tokyo to go get my phone because I was trying to get a replacement. It’s like pretty much impossible. And then from Tokyo I have to take the train or a plane to Osaka to continue my trip. So nice short little trip to Narita Airport today. Cool. with some taco rice. Taco rice is like a pretty much the uh the dish of Okinawa. I had some a couple days ago, but I didn’t realize when I ordered it and it was all vegan. This is the real deal. Taco rice got popular in Okinawa um due to the American occupation and the bases here and Americans introduced them to [Music] taco flavored ground beef and salsa. So this is ground beef, cheese, salsa, uh lettuce and rice. No tortillas. And then we also have a nice oran beer. The beer of Okinawa. Again, this is a result of American influence here in Okinawa because uh the GIS uh well, they’re trying to brew a beer that wasn’t selling that well, but then they switched over to an American style logger and all the GI started drinking it. And now Orion is the most popular beer in Okinawan. All right. After a very long travel day, I uh I left my phone in Tokyo before I went to Okinawa. And I had to fly to Tokyo to get my phone. And then my ultimate destination today was Osaka. So, I had to take the train from Tokyo to Asako, which is about a 3 and 1 half hour, 4 hour trip. It’s been a long day. Um, yeah, but at the hotel now, this is what $22 a night gets you in Osaka. All the showers and bathrooms, they’re all public. And, uh, there’s also a public bath, too, which is nice. Like a nonsense, but again, technically can’t be considered one. Oh man, if I sound a little funny, I’m really congested. That sea water kind of messed me up yesterday. My ears are still plugged from the plane. It sucks. I can’t even really tell how I sound right now. But I’m starving. I’m going to go get some um Japanese barbecue. I’ve been dreaming about it ever since I had the last and I want some more. [Music] I think that was the best meal I’ve had in Japan that was incredible. It was so damn good. Holy crap. I couldn’t stop ordering. I’m honestly like so tired. Like I said, I caught a little cold, I think. Well, no, I didn’t. I’m really tired. I need to go to bed. Otherwise, I probably wouldn’t. Oh man, that was good. I was at the war tomorrow.
In this leg of my month long solo trip through Japan, I’m in the waters of Okinawa, snorkeling in the beautiful turquoise. Saw sea snakes, so many fish and coral, the most beautiful snorkeling I have ever done. The cute ice cream shop featured was actually also my guest house during my stay in Onna, Okinawa. They have a little bakery as well, with beautiful ocean views, cannot recommend it enough. If you want to know the locale, or any other details, just drop me a comment and I’ll provide some more details! This video actually continues into a second day, where I take a last minute flight to Tokyo…then a train to Osaka…so 3 cities in one video!
Thanks so much for watching, I would appreciate any love you feel like sending my way!!!
