Seoul, July 28 (Jiji Press)–New South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Hyun is expected to visit Japan on Tuesday and meet with his Japanese counterpart, Takeshi Iwaya, government officials from both countries said Monday.
It will be Cho’s first overseas trip since he took office on July 21.
His visit apparently shows South Korea’s eagerness to prioritize the Japan-South Korea partnership and the three-way cooperation also including the United States under President Lee Jae-myung’s administration, which was inaugurated last month.
After staying in Japan until Wednesday, Cho is scheduled to visit the United States to meet with Secretary of State Marco Rubio for bilateral tariff talks with the administration of President Donald Trump.
