The Hidden Gem of Hokkaido! Japan’s Most Mysterious Railway Museum

Thank you for riding with Choo-Choo Travel. This time we bring you the Railway Museum of Hokkaido. Many trains pass by. I am heading that way now. You are so lucky to be able to enter the train yard. I wonder if there is a lot of passing through because the station is next to Sapporo. These are all pieces of rail! It’s a station where you can’t let your mind wander. I can’t seem to leave the station. Let’s head out. It takes about 10 minutes from the station. Hokkaido has a nice climate. Let’s go in with a receptionist. There are so many off-limits. Series 281 is displayed in a cool way. Glad to see them up close and personal like this. about to start running I would love to have one in the family. Old trains are also on display. I wish I could see something like that. Here is D5 11! Steam locomotives are always nice to see! It’s a little hard to see. Also here. This one looks like a gasoline-powered locomotive. It appears to have been manufactured in 1929. This one debuted in 2012, so that’s a difference of 83 years. They say there are times when it is not possible to pass through. It’s fun to be able to go into places like this that you normally can’t go into. Come on, let’s go deeper. You can’t usually see the vehicle factory…. Did you enjoy it even at 2x speed? Now, let’s take a look inside the Railway Technology Museum. You will enjoy many valuable exhibits. What immediately caught my eye was… Alpha Continental Express. You have lights on and so on. It appears to have been converted from what was originally a Kiha 56 series train. Let’s enter the driver’s cab. Operate the mass control. Very springy. Many switches are still mounted. I pulled the emergency brake. Doors do not open. The front seat would have had a nice view. I wish I could have traveled with it. D51-1/5 model. I wonder if this model was a working model? Traces of former trains can be seen. Former vehicle plate. A little sad. If you look closely, you can see that it is well made. This Russell car is especially elaborate. I’m sure the headmark would fetch a high price if it were put up for auction. I still think Cassiopeia is expensive. What is this? It says school trip. Let’s get into the driver’s seat. Maybe it was for practice. Lights seem to be interlocked. I don’t see the buzzer interlocking. I wonder who made it? The pantograph works. Very pleasant. Let’s operate the destination indicator. This too is a dream come true. Let me fast-forward a bit. Did you enjoy it? I didn’t know there was such a door. Surprise! Shall I run the fan for you, too? The engine seems to work. I guess I didn’t understand it a bit. There’s a driver’s cab here, too. The indicator lights also have detailed descriptions. The brakes also seem to be linked. Yeah, I’m not sure. I wonder if I have to go to railroad school. Max 120 kg over at once. ? I’m not sure. I think Hokkaido has a lot of rail exhibits. The bogie is also on display. Brick wall. Let’s go upstairs. The second floor was an even deeper world. This is a beautiful display of locomotive parts. The Japanese are solid in this area. Three hours would be very little time if I were to take my time looking at this. It shows respect for the locomotive. It is believed to be quite old. Hokkaido was a very train-loving country. Such a big driver. Taiwan and many other countries are on display. There are also exhibits of the Seikan Liaison Ship and buses. This is a tablet occlusion device. You put that metal in the round hole here. Looking down…. The big layout! I went downstairs! H O gauge layout. Sapporo Station, but you also have Goryokaku. Looks like there is an on-board camera. Can I drive this? Let me get in line too. I guess I’m a little out of shape…? Maybe it’s getting dusty. It’s going to be a happy time for the kids. You fly like crazy. What would be the station stops? That’s pretty good. Can I do it well? Let’s just do one lap because the next person will be there. I put out 120 kilometers. I wonder if this is real? What will happen to station stops? Is it about time for the station? I guess I was a little freaked out. Yeah, I guess. I guess so-so. There are many other layouts. The roads are wide, just like in Hokkaido. This is N gauge. N-gauge has a more densely packed feel to it. I think I saw this at the station. As I expected, many people gathered here. It’s a waste that this place is only open 6 hours a month. Maybe they are randomly placed like this at the train yard. I’d love to be in one of these. It is still very popular. Let’s go in. After all, the driver’s seat is exceptional. I still have a hard time remembering all these instruments. Let’s give it to the next person as soon as possible. Thanks for the good time. What is this? This is a destination indicator, isn’t it! I wish I could show you where everything goes. I love watching this, how about you guys? Sorry for the fast forward…let me know if you guys have a favorite display. All I see is pure white… Trial run, I’m so excited about the group… Taste the privileges that only a driver can enjoy. I get excited when I see them at the station. Thank you for your time. It’s easy to see why everyone loves Hokkaido’s railroads. I’m sorry to leave, but I have to go outside too. I wish they would let it all go. Let’s go over there. It says “Naebo Plant. The station sign is also made of rails. I wonder if this is a bus that can also run on rails? This kind of thing is popular in Nagoya, too. A train is stopped right next to it. I feel differently when I see it at the factory. Usually we are not allowed in here. This SL is nicely preserved. The inside of the cab can be seen. It says Ohaf. It indicates that there is a conductor’s compartment in a standard car. I hope the valuable vehicles will be preserved nicely like this. Exposure to snow inevitably leads to vehicle rot. Have you ever visited here? I hope you enjoyed it again. It’s also nice to see the vehicles being serviced. I hope Hokkaido’s railroads will continue to do even better in the future. I am sorry to leave but I have to go home. Thank you again for riding with us to the end. See you in the next video!

Welcome to Sapporo, the capital of Hokkaido! For all of you who are confused and wondering! The HEAT on the Kiha 281 series stands for HOKKAIDO EXPERIMENTAL ADVANCED TRAIN. Also, the red and blue parts of the DML30HSI engine have moved slightly. From the left, the driver's cab of the Kiha 143 series has the forward/reverse switch, notch, shift, center, direct transmission, and brake. The reverser is set to forward, and it seems that it will not work unless the transmission is shifted (if you don't understand, you might want to take a look at this). https://youtu.be/aBDh7Jx0cU8?si=jb2I36ZzA962I_xW The tablet blocker seems to work fine on the one from Mikasa last time. Thank you for coming to the hot Nakanaebo Factory. There is also the Sapporo City Transportation Museum at the Subway Self-Defense Forces Station in Sapporo, but there is a place where you can enter for a limited time, so I recommend it! Why not go and visit it?

  2. i wanted to visit this museum when i visited hokkaido, but it wasnt open at that time 🥲

  3. Arigatougozaimasu for introducing me to another fascinating location. The museum was filled with many interesting exhibits which I could have spent hours enjoying. The train models at 10:00 were amazing. I've never seen such large models before, and the quality of their craftsmanship and the attention to detail was exemplary. I hope you had a very enjoyable visit to Hokkaido, and I look forward to watching your next train adventure! 🚂🚃🚃
